Hi poetjo, glad you found us, do post some of your work, there is an area here for finnished poems, and workshop if you want some feedback. I find reading others work often stimulates ideas, nature too gives me inspiration, or a visit somewhere new. You could try the cinquain train, last two words to start your new poem off.

Hello to all fellow poets!

I just discovered the website a couple of days ago and was thrilled to see a poets workshop! I used to write all the time, in every spare moment but now, it's a rare moment that I devote to writing. I am stuck and look forward to a bit of a kick in the butt to get me going again.
I look forward to diving into poetry once again...thanks for the opportunity.

Hi Everyone, I decided to join this group after getting a great invite.
My problem is this...my muse WAS a wonderful temptress. She inspired, enticed, and forced out my inner voice through my arm and onto paper. However, she escaped me and fled to FL and took up residence as an old bluehair bald guy named Marty who sits around in his chest-high plaid shorts pinching the local ladies on the butt trying to get some Viagra-laden action. He ritually attends Shuffleboard daily at 2pm and follows it up with an hour of Judge Judy.
Regardless, my muse has morphed into something untenable for any writer. It is true she fled when I was in Night school while working 60hrs/wk and preparing to go to Pharmacy school. Now that I'm actually in my program my semesters are grueling enough to stop most of my creative pursuits, save photography. So now that I'm on Summer Break I figured I'd see what Gaia has to offer. So once I figure out how to post a poem and do so, I'll try to be active in helping others with there work as well.
My creative writing mentor in grad school, Tim Seibels, left me with these words when I left the English Dept..."The Soul is a House...Let it Burn!" In need to get back in touch with this passion.

Wow! Look at all these poets. I am really amazed at how many poets, both amateur (like myself) and professional there are at Gaia.com. Can it be that poetry is part of the new paradigm of humanity? I'd love to come in, please, and find out what's happening. I'd love to share and get feedback, I'd love to learn more about the craft of telling truth in poetry.

I don't know how this slipped under my radar but I have wanted to be in such a group for a while, and will be going just now to add it to my list of Active Groups on Gaia

I don't write a lot of poetry but when I do, I'd like a place like this to share it. Thanks, Gael!

Hi Open Traveller, glad you posted, please do carry on reading, it would be lovely if you can comment and we would love to read some of yours when you get inspired. I find reading others work can be inspirational and fire poetic ideas in new directions.
We all have different styles the variety is endless so please do add some of yours to add to the wonderful diversity.Love of poetry is a great place to start.

Hello, I've been a member of this group for a while now but just haven't found the motivation and time to actually write something down. Welcome to poets workshop Hanah, yes writing is fun, and it is good to write about things that you know about, Lively icon pic too. Dive in, looking forward to reading your work, do read other poems here and give some feedback too, if you are shy about doing so check the guidelines its quite simple and your opinions will be valued. Post in showcase if you feel your poems are finnished, if you require critique in workshop please.

Hello my name is Hannah, and I am an avid writer.
I feel like my work not all that... great, not something someone would think of when they thought of me, even though I have won a writing contest once and my work has been sent to various authors by suggestion.
I do write poems as well, but stories are my passion. Poems are a really great way to get you thinking from a different perspective and plunge deeper into clearer waters in life. I think that when you write them, and while you are writing them, you can sort out your feelings and it soothes you. It has the same effect as yoga I think.
I think by joining this group I will be more eager to get back into writing poems and sharing them and see not just what my parents and teachers think about my work. I can get responses from people who will be more honest and give me suggestions on how to better myself. I hope to meet some great writers here and I am looking forward to it.
