We are watching evolution happen

southern said Jul 20, 2008, 10:36 AM:

A few months ago it became clear to me that we are watching evolution unfold, perhaps far more quickly than ever before. Although there are those who never believed in the slow, gradual theory of evolution anyway, but I digress.

On one hand, my spirit can almost taste the yearning for actualization, both individually and collectively. People are thinking bigger and asking deeper questions and trying to figure out the 'more' of life.

On the other hand, there is an ugly debasement of the human spirit evident in our culture, our food, our music, our homes, our lives, our values. People appear to be choosing sides, and I have yet to figure out if that is good or bad or just change.

I think that on the micro level we will see more emphasis on community as globalization forces us to work smarter, no harder. On the macro level we will all have to redefine power as other countries become 'superpowers' and a new way of communicating and sharing space is devised to divert violent tendencies.

And, the visionary in me doesn't see this so much as my childish spirit hopes for a funnel cake delivery service that brings piping hot fried dough with powedered sugar to my door on demand. :D

Evolution, transformation, change. I'm seeing this theme cropping up everywhere, thrumming just beneath the surface of nearly every discipline from the arts to the sciences to religious scholarship. I've come to think of it as an 'emerging collective consciousness'. Were such a consciousness to emerge, perhaps an emerging collective conscience wouldn't be too far behind.

Might it be too much to hope we are on the verge of a great awakning?

No -I don't think it too much to hope for a great awakening lorlel.
But be prepared for some “up's and down's”!
So many times I too have had such a strong feeling that we are
actually, collectively, “getting there” -only to have my hopes dashed and
crushed.
Then along pops someone else, feeling the feeling ,and my hope
is strong and true again.
I think it comes and goes, like a great wave, just waiting to pick
everybody up.
Each time we think we are riding the cresendo, we are splashed into
white froth again!

I guess all this means is that we are gathering more and more each time,
and we must be patient, as we don't want to leave anyone behind-
and -we need all of mankind!

Southern,

I have noticed the same things you discussed.  In some areas we appear to be gaining ground.  In other areas, we appear to be big time backsliding.  I think that maybe those that are chosing to move away from a higher conciousness and towards greater darkness (I wont mention any political figures here that would be prime examples), do so in order to further motivate those of us that seek to move forward and into greater light to get off of our buttocks and do so.  Not just with words, but with deeds.  Two extremes cast against each other will bring about change.

As the light grows brighter, the shadows will get darker in contrast. Also, the people fighting change work to keep things from moving faster than we're ready to handle. We all play an important role. Follow your heart and trust that it all will work out. Send love to that which needs healing without judgement.

Yes, change has become visible during the last two hundred years. My morther-in-law rode in the first serviceable motor cars and while still relatively young (she is now 102) we went to the moon; now she can watch missed TV programs on her computer.

However, that kind of change is not really evolution in the positive sense. What is crucial for the human species now is to learn taking part in conscious evolution. Because, as one conscious evolutionary put it, if we do not design our future, we may not like the one that will happen to us.

What do you envision?

If can see it can be done.

If you envision nothing for our future, are you a visionary?
