What is light?

Meenakshi said Oct 19, 8:14 PM:

On entering this group, Zennie  asked a brilliant question [pun not intended but delighted in!]

what is light?

So, I throw open this thread for all to add their responses.

What is Light?

Possible sub-topics: What light is not
How is light related to dark
How do we know what light is
Why do we talk about light?

I assume we are talking about spiritual light? Here's my take on it…

Ordinarily it can apply to lighting a fire, or daylight, or illumination and I believe all these come into play with spiritual light.

I once had an NDE and went hurtling through a tunnel towards light, a brilliant light, idescribable, if I try….I would say it was warmth, love, peace, acceptance, understanding, tranquility, clarity, and brilliance, yet gentleness.

The fire and passion of love, daylight, seeing what IS, illumination bringing clarity to dispel the shadowy dark and fearful areas, maybe it is realising working towards all those things experienced in my NDE and our efforts to express or let those qualities flow through us.

I agree with Zephyr above.  I have also seen light from my heart energy centre (chakra) flow outwards. It was white light and shaped like a tube about  ohh say 8 to 10 inches long and made up of strands of light, too many to count so hundreds maybe millions I dont know. I saw this for a good 30 seconds and then it went. Hence, I have trouble when in chakra meditations to imagine the heart energy centre as green or pink, because I have actually seen it as white. and yes, felt it as pure love flowing out.  But it hit a dull target and bounced back and as it did, felt its pain.

Wow! What is light?
I think we must first talk about what is not light. Greed, selfishness, hate, war, dogmatic practices. Their are plenty of very dark places on the earth. Darker than we can ever imagine. We live in a place that holds the lightest of light and the truth and the darkest of lies and sadness all in the same place. That is where we live. but….

“Within each and every individual is a Great God born of the original light. It is eternal, it has a name, and it is the working duplicate of the original light from which nothing was withheld. It is pure, unconditional love and joy; “Bliss”  ~Cazekiel

So how can we perceive this original light?

Light is love, and love is God, and God is love and light is God.
The Light is Us. The light is like fire. When you have the light you have truth.

“With the light comes a responsibility”, and that is true. The light is what keeps you going. The light is something that we consciously “remember” about ourselves.

The Light is something that everyone has, but some cannot see or feel or follow.

This reminds me of a song I like it says, “It's driven me before, and it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around. But lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself my Light is found.” - Incubus

The Light is the upper and higher vibration of life on our planet and it is the home of the masters and the Christs and the Archangels. The Light is the fragment of God that you have that is highly more powerful than the darkest of any place on this planet. It is the polar opposite and beyond of the temporal and weakening source called Duality…

I guess in this moment I would say that light, in the context that most consider it, is the energy that flows constantly from the eternal you, and from God/All That Is, and that flows from the materially manifested you when you are in a state of appreciation, acceptance, knowledge and trust of yourself.

Educating ourselves by reading & ridding the earth of negative things like: selfishness, dishonesty, violence, crime, insanity and war. Thus, a more enduring civilization results. Using a dictionary on new words enables me to put light back out from my imagination and apply to areas real or imagined. It sends light which pierces through truth.

A person at Quaker meeting asked if we could all combine our lights to be a stronger light. I said it is not that we can or can't; it is that we acknowledge that we already are.
Our lights were lit when the universe was formed. The term enlightenment actually means to be awaken to the fact that we have divine lights. We do not attain that. It already is attained for us.
We accept/acknowledge it.
The chakra systems is a misnomer made for beginners. All of our energy is clear light that through the prism of our cells can be seen in shades of color.

This light does not emanate from certain centers. It flows out of every cell and organ and tissue all the time in all directions from all parts of our body. The colors on those popular chakra charts are just to make us feel good that this color goes with this thing. All the colors go with all the things. All things are pure clear light.
And most important, the chakra system leaves out the legs and feet where our energy light flows up from the earth and out to that magnetic pole of our body.

So when you let the energy be what it is, clear and powerful and respect it and nurture it without controlling it then it will be healthy and growing. Do not divide it up into colors and do not mess with it. Leave it be rich and full and clear and empty of greed/let it be full of love.

What is light?
What emanates from Let There Be light
or from the alignment of action, emotion, will, connection, expression, intuition, expansion, and all the energies that swirl around us, connecting us to the ONENESS.

So, here is another question I am wondering about. Could light refer to awareness??? Here is where I am going. Could awareness be a kind of light that sees life as it is? I am interested in all your thoughts.

Much Love,

Yes… I see it as awareness of awareness and also what is true for you is true when it comes to this subject. It is also dependent upon what I am applying this to in any given situation; each with different handlings.

Zennie! So cool to see you here… we have got to talk, brother, we shall have to private message about a skype call, so much news to tell you and I am dying to hear about your trip.

So, to me Light and Awareness are very very closely linked. Bringing light invariably brings awareness and vice versa. Yes yes yes

Love, so much love,

Nicole

Zennie, wonderful to take this question further. It is what we take into the Awareness and the awareness itself. It is also what leads us to seek awareness.
It is however, 'beyond' awareness, as it is also what we seek awareness about….
I love that Kathy- 'awareness of awareness'

Hi Zennie

awareness spirals
light infinity beckons
rose of love birthing

I believe the more “light/love” shines on us and the more we accept it and own our inner light/love the more awareness births, this then spirals into more love/light, all neverending into infinity itself>>>>>

My thought as I write - enlightenment is neverending through time and space, it is something that grows as we evolve and connect with other “lights” - there is no boundary to enlightenment's fullness and love

Light is transparent yet it glows and flows in a direction we choose or to those that want to receive loving light. We can help shift someone by seeing the good in them and visualizing their highest good.

Re: What is light?

Zennie said Nov 3, 2:55 PM:

Thank you all so much! What I love about this questioning is the richness of the answers that come up. When I read each one, I get a little bit different view certainly a view beyond the one seen by this body\mind. My body and brain sees things according to its conditioned view. In this questioning way, I can have more light or light of awareness in my life because you all can help me see in ways I could not see before.

Instead of baking a pie and then slicing it up. The slices are returning to the pie to form a more expanded light… in a way of seeing. That is what I think I am learning here.

So here is my next question. How do you know you are consciously connected with the light (how ever you define it)?

My answer: For me one way is through a feeling sense. When I allow the momentum of my personality wind down, I feel a palpable sense of aliveness in my body and I seem to sense it is beyond my body. The reason I say that is that when I close my eyes and feel. I cannot tell where my body and thoughts begin or end. It is kind of a gentle electrical sensation… aliveness is the best word I can find right now.

Also, another way is that the light comes in from intuition. This is different from the thinking that tries to recall from memory something known. It tends to be gentle as it enters and it often is something I can't claim having ever know before. Often it is the key to a situation, an insight, or an eye opening realization. It also has this feeling of knowingness to it that is so perfect and it is served up (in a way of speaking) to be known for whatever purpose.

There are so many ways…. this is a couple.

How about you? How do you know you are consciously connected?

  Ryon : We are inseparable

Re: What is light?

Ryon said Nov 3, 3:39 PM:

I know what you mean Zennie. Their is an intuitive way of expression that comes from the source of the light. An internal impulse that seems to come from somewhere that we allow into our consciousness as much a we WILL OURSELVES TO, bringing us joyous and enlightening situations consistently, synchronizations and pattern recognitions, and lovely people with whom we share a similar vibration with.

I would like to know how we, who are conscious of light, actually notice it when we go out?

I know I am consciously connecting with the light of the world because of the ones I connect to. The groups I connect with. The music. The words and writings I read. It is of a higher, more rare vibration that in turn, creates wonderful chances at learning and relationships based on growth, acceptance and then love. Love for truth, inspiration and change.

How in an earthly sense are we this powerful to see light everywhere we go?

Definitely a two way street there sometimes….

….those ocean animals that are in the very depths and darkness of the ocean have created their own beautiful illuminations, even though they exist in the darkest of the dark, and coldest of the cold. Impressive light shows going on down there.
