Hi, Welcome to Women's Forum at Zaadz

martha said Sep 23, 2006, 5:00 PM:

Hi, it's Martha, and I'd like to welcome you to Women's Forum at Zaadz.  Thanks for coming by.  I'd like everyone to get a chance to check in and introduce yourself.

My community college years were some of the greatest growing years of my life.  I worked in the community, in places like the police department, neighborhood organizations, the Red Cross, waitressing, light industry, I worked as a maid–had the opportunity to try many types of roles.  The experiences we get during college really do influence us throughout life.

What types of experiences have you taken on so far in college and in life?  Where are you headed, and what would you like to do eventually?  And…how will you be changing the world?

With affection and respect,
Martha

Now that I figured out how to get here, I can introduce myself.  My name is Susan.  I moved back to Phoenix almost 3 years ago.  I have gone back to school and really hope to make a difference in the world in some way.  I am extremely shy.  And generally very closed off.  Since I started school I've noticed that I'm opening up some.
I have been searching for life's secrets and meaning for a very long time.  The only thing I've discovered so far is that my purpose in this life is to be a caregiver of some kind.  Being the oldest in my family, I guess it is the  natural thing for me to do.  My other quest is to get closer to God and really feel the presence in every part of my being.  This has been an illusive quest.  I have had several moments when that has been the case but not near as much as I want.
I have 2 sons that are just the greatest young men!  For having the parents they have, they are still really great kids and none the worse for it.  I am so very proud of them.  I am also a grandmother.  3 grandchildren!  And possibly more when my youngest son starts his family.  He just got married this summer.  They both live in Amarillo Texas.  Way too far away.  But it is what it is.  I sure do miss them.
That's a pretty good introduction.  Hope to visit more and open up more to new things, ideas and people!
Susan

Thanks for the great introduction!  I love your sense of mission.  I think it's the thing we're all basically here to do, right?  Take care of others (and to do that, we've got to do an impeccable job of taking care of ourselves!), and find God.  We do that in a lot of different ways, but I don't think anybody can do more than that!

Wishing you happiness and growth!

Hello Martha, this is Darnell. I managed to make it onto your page. I really liked Susan's introduction and openness. All I really have to say about myself is that I'm very busy these days. I spent my 20's making mistakes and experiencing life. Now that i”m in my 30's I'm doing my best to be a responsible & loving mommy and wife. The responsible part of that entails working full-time and going back to school. The loving part is being with my family and making the most of the time that I'm not at work or school. Speaking of work, it's time I get back to it. :) Thanks for introducing us to this site.

Hi Dr. Bergin,

This is a really cool website. I hope to be able to explore it when this semester is over. :).

Just a tad bit about myself. I am a mother of 2 and have a great husband of 19 yrs. I am active in my church and love to workout; however, learning has had precedence over my current life, which is okay. I have been in school full time since 2003 (including summers) I will graduate with my AA in Dec. but my goal is to apply for the nursing program in the spring of 2007 and hopefully graduate by the fall of 2009. Along with that, my ultimate goal will be to continue my education and graduate from ASU! This has been a great semester and I have really learned a lot about communication I never knew was possible. Thanks!

Hi Bonnie,

I enjoyed reading your post and your plans.  –Your icon is great, too!  It really reflects your interests and personality as I've come to know you just in this brief time.  I think you are very motivated to graduate from ASU, and you will accomplish your dream!  –And other dreams, too!

Hi, this is Brenda from the Mon-Wed class. There are so many great thoughts on the introductions! I returned to college in 2004 at the urging of my husband who knew that I had always wanted to be a nurse. I work in the healthcare field now in a support role and love my job! I enjoy being in college and learning new things every day. I also enjoy meeting new people, but sometimes my shyness makes that tough. I look forward to continuing to learn every day.

Again, welcome to women's forum! I had the pleasure in working with Tina Spencer on the women's forum at gateway community college. we had the most awesome core of women that were so dedicated in helping each other for support and volunteering in our community. I graduated in 2005, worked for a year as a front office person. today , I am looking for another full time job, have had a lot of personal soul searching issues. some family  secrets had come to surface which was tearing apart my heart. I grew up in phoenix,az and now live with my 20 year old daughter. my oldest son has served 3 different tours in Iraq, home in AZ safely, and has eloped 3 months ago with his high school sweetheart who had a 3 year old son. so , i am an instant grandma, which i have been looking forward to for so long. news came yesterday that they are now expecting! my younger son, married and living in a cult has chosen to not communicate with any family members. This has been very difficult to  accept…………….life goes on

Hi Martha,

I am looking forward to participating in the Women's Forum. I live on a little island of the south west coast of British Columbia, Canada in a strawbale timberframe home on one acre over looking a small valley.  I love laughing, visiting, stories, quiet, long walks, my partner, family, friends and children. I spend much time digging in the dirt to see what I can get grow and working as a mentor, coach, consultant and facilitator for women and women's organizations leading change.

Thanks for hosting and holding this space.

Terrill:)
