What does happiness smell like?

If happiness had a smell, what would it be? Baking bread? Puppy breath? Sunshine on grass? What does happiness smell like to you?

Happinessis the smell of any food to a hungry man/woman/child, and it’s the expression on the face of a baby who first tastes mothers milk

The smell of my grandfather, The sweet aroma of freshly baked bread swirling in the aroma of bumblebees and herbs fresh with dew in the cold, crisp air after a rainstorm.

Ooooohhh… definitely the barn at daybreak before a long ride. mucking stalls, steam rising from my mare’s coat, coffee brewing in the tack room, leather… alfalfa and grain… it doesn’t get much better.

Scents which fantabulously are effected by my sensory system. I LOVE anything that smells good and DESPISE anything which offends my olfactory. Pleasant aromas innoculate my heart & head with past memories and are a powerful aphrodisiac. Just like hearing a beautiful piece of music or a seducing a photograph with my eyes.

This is what happiness smells like to me [Sweet summer memories in Yosemite & being in northern CA with my sis] today on this 24 degree last day in February…as I inhale the aroma of my double espresso topped with fresh frothy raw milk AND cream, few drops of vanilla & touch of Indiana Shagbark Hickory Maple Syrup and anticiapte Spring.
Long slow inhale…..slurp slurp…..mmmmmmmmmm….exhale….ahhhhhhh

Happiness to me is the smell of my pillow when my sheets have been hung out to dry in the spring. The smell of fresh cut grass. The smell of fresh chopped wood.

happiness, for me, would ultimately be the smell of the lake, and the memories tied to it. those precious seconds when you're on the boat with the family, wind whipping in your face, and you look around and realize how infinitely you love them. the scent of the lake overwhelms you and seems to embody this family spirit, and it stays on your skin even hours afterward. :-)

..happiness for me is the smell of the first rain which mother earth gets after a long scorching summer…the smell of the baby just then breast fed–this is something i feel everybody should experience..it's just divine !…smell in & around a swimming pool…smell inside a dense forest particularly in the early hours of the morning or evening/night …smell of my favourite dishes which my late mother used to cook- i can feel it even today- after 20 years of her departur from this world !…smell in the vicinity of a  river / lake / sea / mountain ranges / hill resort / vegetable,fruit & flower  market…

Ah , happiness smells like :The wind after a fresh spring rain fall, it engulfs my senses with joy, lavender fresh , and dry, and the colour too , always puts a smile on my face , and calms my senses right down to much happiness…Babies wrinkly , and so fresh…fresh linnen just cleaned , and hung on the line, and watching it air dry, the smell once I dive under the covers is heavenly…
animals running freely,as I smell nature,and it is the animals smiling faces, and nature is embrassing me with a huge smile , and sends a wif of natures own scent, and that is a sense of freedom , and joy , and tears of much happiness to my eyes:)The fall of a great structure so grande , and elegant, yet really the fall can only be the begining of something better, and more amazing, the smell of the a new fresh tulip popping out of the richness of the earth within the stubble of distruction , is a sign that there is still beauty much amzing beauty , and I sense it in a big way!

happiness to me smells like the steaming hot chai I order when I meet with my girlfriends at the local coffee house, and we discuss our lives and how we can make a difference in the world.
happiness is the intoxicating scent of the rose that is blooming on the rose bush my husband bought for me………….

happiness smells like mom's chicken and dumplings, the french milled soap that takes me back, christmas trees, cinnamon toast, him.

It smells like a breath of my most gracious host, and the breath of a powdered innocent/ce of a tune - that awakens me divinely and eyed acquainted lovers to ….ohm…..and derives from such Divine forces from that which came from ones mistake from ever happening again, dance a 'harvest moon to':)

The smell of Iris flowers. They are out now where I live, and they smell … well, happy. My dog's name is “Happy”, and he doesn't smell all that good, but he acts happy. He acts like an iris and smells like a dog!

Happiness smells like my Oma's apfelkuchen as it is baking in the oven - hot summer asphalt after it rains - the spray of the ocean - earth on my cat's paws - a spicy meal that Karl has cooked - wildflower fragrance wafting on the wind - bubblegum - snow - chocolate - a new baby - home.

I love this thread. It's sheer poetry. And I'll contribute a few common lines. :)

Happiness smells like wet rain on warm asphalt, and lilacs, and the first whiff of a candle-warmed yet-unexplored red wine. Happiness smells like the soap-fresh skin of someone you love,  and the brine of the tide upon waking. Happiness smells like rich loamy peat, and bruised grasses, and the lusciousness of ripe tangerines. Happiness smells like a lemon-clean and sparkling house, with the windows thrown wide and sun cascading in. Happiness smells like the oiled leather, with a faint whiff of tobacco and smoke. Happiness smells like campfires at night, and burning leaves. Happiness smells like memories.

Sometimes happiness smells like his jacket, sometimes like a hot summer day, and every now and again it smells like paper.

Happiness smells like fresh cilantro from your back yard. It smells like the new pages of a certain book. It smells like a cedar trinket box that you rarely open just to keep the smell inside. Happiness smells like my loved one's neck when i hug him.
