Where do the words go after each recitation?

Josianne said Mar 16, 4:48 AM:

When reciting or listening to poetry, have you ever wondered where the words go after each recitation?
I'd love to hear your answers, and have no doubt Gaia's audience will be moved by your expressive recitation :)

Carried on the wind of infinity they travel around the world, to sooth aching hearts and bring solace to the ones whom are seeking

Tossed into the air with joy and wonder, they float slowly down and back into our listening hearts, like thousands of graces, flickering never dimming.

I love this question. Where do they go? They cascade into a million meanings and weave with the thoughts and dreams and experiences of each listening to create a tapestry of a brighter and sweeter and more beautiful future. They don't go, but become. :)

Dearest Gaians!

Thank you so much for your marvellous answers! They are rays of light shed on a question which haunted me during all my childhood; and it may very well be that I’m still a child :)

Katerina: what is truly wonderful with poems is that they work in so many ways. Depending on the moment, our state of mind, or our presence of heart, they can be soothing (who has not experienced the comfort of soothing words?), but they can also bring a deep sense of joy. Poetry knows the path to get into us, for healing, for growth, for transformation, or for whatever we are looking for.

Willowinthewind: thank you for the musicality of your words! I like the idea of poems floating in the air, coming and going, playing with our senses, living the space of a heart that opens and shuts. To me, they are as many voices echoing my sensitivity. As long as I live, I’ll surrender to poetry.

Siona: I love your answer ;) What I like most in poetry is the notion of boundlessness. The experiences are never the same; each recitation is ‘for this time only’, unique. And you’re so right, to become is inherent to poetry. Maybe what matters most, is not the poems themselves, but rather what will be indelibly printed on our hearts after we’ve listen to them. Poetry has the power to get under our skin, making us aware of a reality beyond the written words. To me, it is always a start of a journey, an invitation to dive deep within…

Hugs to you all, and again, thank you for your response.

Words are the life blood of relationships, flowing into our hearts, igniting within us the emotions of joy and love, or fear and doubt.  Words are the present intention of future memories, infinitely penetrated, indelibly penned in our deepest souls.

While the written word can be retracted, their impact is already done, as are the perceptions that they create of the wordsmith.

They join the collective consciousness … if they are positive, then they increase the love; if they are negative, then they increase the fear.  The importance of lovely words is huge, with the only thing having greater importance being lovely actions.

When a poem is written, into the words goes all that a person is, their deepest thoughts, or, the thoughts that just float by and are caught by a thread. When a poem is recited, the words go where they are intended to go. When some people listen to, or read the words of a poem, all they hear and see are words strung together…these are the people who choose not to listen to the weaving expressionism of poetry. When recited, the words go where they intended to go, to those who dare to listen, to breathe in the words of a poem, to let the words of anothers most intimate thoughts sink into their own skin, their own minds.  Poetry is just…well…magic.

they are whispers of consciousness, that float skyward like balloons, drifting along with the wind and murmuring in the ears of those ready to listen. they become the wind, become the infinite, become the perceptions one is born with.
