If you could live in anything other than a house (or apartment or building), what would it be, and where? |

I guess on a houseboat. A friend did it for years. I would probably want to float around the Carribbean-no wait-I love Spain and the Medittereanean (however you spell it), is as smooth as glass. When I went on a cruise over there, I never wanted to get off. The ship was so soothing. |

A teepee or other cloth/wood structure. They are energy efficient, weather efficient, portable, easily repaired, simply and easily bought and built. Can include below ground space. |

I am going to say a sod house like my Icelandic Anscestors might have built and lived in, if it could stand the Harsh Icelandic winters…it can survive here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, lol! |

Although I love my home…and pray everyday that with the financial state of the world I will be lucky enough to be able to keep it….my Hubby and I have dream of one day living in a RV and traveling the US and Canada. I guess it is not to far from “home” but I am used to many of the typical comforts and even though Hubby would be happy with a tent in the woods, I am done with camping after 4 days….so a RV would be good for me. |

A sail boat. I think I'd like to start out in the Washington area (Puget Sound). Plenty of wind, clear clean waters, snow capped mountains, San Juan Islands, British Columia and Alaska to the north. Portland and the Columbia River Gorge to the south. The idea of changing neighborhoods and environments easily appeals to my senses. Then of course, there's the rest of the world to explore. |

A cave with lush vegatation surrounding the mouth. I would walk inside, and be warm in the winter, cool in the summer. Walking somewhat inward, I would find a pond, perhaps 6 feet deep in the center, filled with fish and other creatures. Then there would be a waterfall coming from another layer of the cave that would provide a great place for a combination of shower and bath. The cave, especially would give a sense of the continuous rebirth that we go through uncoconsiously. We are continuiously emerging out of the dark depths into the light…which the cave (also mimicking the womb) would speak to. I think we go through this continuously, when we sleep and then wake up, when we are born, and so on. The cave would just be another way of experiencing the beginning “Let there be Light”….or the darkness of the Void in the Rig Veda, or the place in the Tao Te Ching which disscusses that which is confusedly formed…and so on. So, in thinking about why I'm thinking cave….it's because caves say it all. Take care. Burl |

Every year, we go to a cabin by a lake. Near that cabin, there are stone steps that lead down to the lake, and a shed and some picnic tables. I'd choose to live in the shed. It's not all that musty as you might think it is! And it's not that kind of shed which holds bikes and lawn mowers. Actually, my aunt and uncle put an old couch in it and some lawn chairs and…a shower curtain! (For changing, though I don't think I'd ever want to change in there but I'd have to if I lived in it.) |

When I was five years old, I set out on my tricycle to see the world. The cops found me three hours later talking with a yardman. I've lived on a sailboat and sailed the islands. Sounds romantic but 97 percent of sailboat adenturers end up on the rocks. I did. |

I have always loved the water. It would be a challenge but to spend some time on a river boat, floating down the Mississippi. I am not exactly a “Huck Finn”, but it does lure me. Our family has spent quite a bit of time on the waters, mainly in Kentucky and Tennessee. |

I could live in an RV again, some are very luxurious & with the slideouts quite roomy also, although the W&D never seems to work right. I'd love to sample living in a yurt also, they are supposed to be very eco-friendly. I would have said an underground/living roof home but that might still be considered a building since it has to be constructed & I'd need one with lots of skylights, because I get depressed when I don't get my daily dose of sunshine & I need LOTS of it. But I am glad that the “green” movement is coming up with some great architecture, see this picture of the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco with a living roof that has lots of light, all of those circles are skylights & from inside looking up you mostly see sky, plus they are motorized to open & close to control temperature inside. This is fabulous. I love being connected with the earth, but I also need the sky & sun above. |

We're currently living in a motor home, wandering round England. It's fun but the tiny, tiny roads of Old Blighty make it a scary thing at times! Because of dongles, we can work from the motor home (called Wanda) and, in this extraordinarily balmy (for England) weather, work seems like a holiday all the time … and the view out our lounge window changes every day and so that's magic! |

If I could, I would totally live in a mall. A big mall- one with a huge food court, large clothing corporations, and most importantly- mattress stores. I would have everything I would ever need- entertainment, supplies, friends, and more! |

I shared a studio apartment meant for one person with my husband for 2 1/2 years because it was so cheap and it helped us save money to buy a house faster. We had to store a lot of stuff. It was like Christmas when we were finally able to open brand new things we received as wedding gifts but had no room for until after after moving. I'll never forget baking Christmas cookies using my bed (sofa bed) as a table. Complicated, but was determined to make it work. |

A spaceship that could unobtrusively land planet-side on the land or water with a negligible environmental footprint. It would need to be outfitted with the latest food synthesizers as well as a section devoted to actual organic food production (perhaps a nice aquaponics system). And it should be able to travel in near vacuum at warp factors (faster than light) and be able to manifest its own quantum jump points as required. And, of course, Robby should be the astrogator. |
