How did you meet your closest friend?

Where and how did you meet your dearest friend? For how long have you known each other?

One dearest friend I met through her being my teacher and mentor in a monastery/temple. She is now a Reverend in Atlanta, GA USA.
Another is through Gaia. She is in England.
Another is through a men's group and he is in the same house we sometimes met in in Phila, PA USA.
And the last is my younger son who is in his hometown of Phila, PA USA

welll…. im in 7th grade & i met him in 4th grade on the 2nd dat of school… we were assigned as math partners & he said “wow…” i was like “what?” & he said “nothin.. its just that u have probably the coolest, greenest, biggest eyes that i've ever seen!!!” i said thanks & we talked more & we gave each other our phone #s & we've been bestestez freinds ever since. we've also been on the phone for 1,2,3,4 & 5 hours at a time almost every day! its awesome & people sat that he likes me because we are togethre soooo much !!! lol
me & gavin are probably going to be best friends for years to come…..

I was chairing a meeting for adult children of alcoholics and through the spiritual aspect of the program, (which is why I went), people welcomed my spirit and essence.  I went to a retreat that this person suggested and it grew from there.  She will call me on my stuff, and I will remind her, “hmmm wonder why you created that for yourself”.  We have wonderful spiritual awareness, and can share anything but Chopra or Quantum physics.  She just doesn't get it.  So funny.

I am lucky enough to have a few people to fit into this catagory.

The friend I have had the longest, Sherry and I met in 2nd grade. We clicked instantly and now 25 or so years later we still talk on a regular basis.

I met Brian when I was in 3rd grade but we were not very close for several years but then became wonderful friends in high school. We were there for each other when my fiance joined the military and when Brain came out of the closet.  This friendship has gone on for many years now and we still talk on a daily basis.

I met my sister Chelsea in 6th grade. No, we are not biologicly related but we instantly felt we compleated each others family. I lived with her family for many years and her mother is my daughters Grandmother. Chelsea and I talk everyday about everything from money to the diva cup….this is a valuable relationship for both of us.

I met my sole mate Joseph when I was 15. We were in art class and he said he was going to be my new best friend….No he did not replace Chelsea, or Brian, ot Sherry but I did fall in love with him and we were married when I was 18 and have been for almost 14 years now.  I do still love him more every day and we have a great life together.

I feel very luckly to have not only these people in my life but a handful of others who I also cherish. Some people just step into your world and you can tell they belong there.

Well, a long time ago now!  I met my grandmother, my father's mother…  
Marie Olise was her name and she became my closest and dearest friend as long as she lived.  My parents ignored me; I was just a noisy kid.
Other Adults in the family I found to be plain stupid…
From I was 1about 10-12 years old I started visiting her; helping her chopping wood and bringing up coal for her furnace.  I did the shopping for her - all of it a pleasure for me.
then we sat down by her kitchen table and had a long and good chat.  She was a simple woman in the way that she had no education and came from a poor family. butshe was curious about me as a young man and the world; which she didn't participate in too much.
she was the only adult around I could hace this kind of conversations with
I grew older and went abroad very early.  I got a letter from my auntie saying that Marie was very sick now. 
I came home 2 weeks later and she was in a semi coma.  I took her hand and said: “I am here now grandma, I am with you now.”
My auntie said she couldn't hear me, but then I got the gentlest squeeze from my best friend's fingers.  contact was established.
she died a few days after this.  I was not home.
She is following me now; as a helper and gives me love and tender care all the time.  She is looking forward to see me again!

..I met my BFF, Brittney at work. She was the new girl cashiering and I was her supervisor. She asked about registering her car and I told her that it was important and that she should take care of it before she gets a ticket…I dont remember how I gave her my number but she had it and one day we had a power outage. It was cold so my parents were the only ones that had electrcity. So she called me and I told her that she can come stay wit me and my parents, and me and her have been bestfriends ever since 2006. I love my BFF…we call each other “chicken”…LOL

I don't remember it much, but I had moved to a completely new neighborhood at around the age of 4 or 5. The first (but not the closest) friend I had there was a small blond girl by the nickname of PJ. We had “playdates” and talked, and then there was one day where we were walking around the block with permission from our mothers. As we were rounding the corner, PJ exclaimed, “Stephy!” and raced over to a girl in the driveway of a house that I didn't know. She looked nice, but I stayed back since I didn't want to be rude. PJ began talking with her, and in the middle of the conversation, she invited me over.
           “This is Steph,” she introduced her. I nodded shyly (I was extremely shy).
           “Hi,” Steph said earnestly. That's all I really remember…

           We've known each other for, let's say, five years? Both of them, PJ and Steph, have been close friends. A bit later, I met two sisters who lived almost across from Steph and we became friends also.

I was introduced to my very best friend as someone new from Trinidad who needed help with calculus. We hit it off right away and the tutoring sessions were the beginning of a long and happy friendship for which I will always be grateful. She is an amazing person.

 I was doing a lecture regarding Intuition for a class next door to a class she was teaching. When the lecture was over some of the students went to her class and mentioned me.  She was waiting outside the room I had been lecturing in and asked if I would speak to her class.  That was about 40 years ago.  We have been through a lot of love, laughter, tears, and growth since then and are still very close today.  I introduced her to her husband and officiated at her wedding, my mother passed away in her arms, the stories go on…

I actually met my dearest friend in a fight. A bunch of jerks were going around picking random fights with people and they had her out numbered so I jumped in to even out the odds. We’ve been best friends since. This was back in third grade I think so its been about eight years since we met.

I open the door to my apartment to find a huge Black Labrador Retriever staring me down and barking.  “Excuse me,” I said, “I live here but what are YOU doing here?”  My daughter, who was a Veterenary Assistant had brought home a year old dog scheduled to be euthanized because his family couldn't keep her. She had contacted them and they were relieved to relinquish her to someone who could give  him a forever home… apparently ours! My daughter trained him, my son housed him while he was in aviation school and after graduation, he became my house mate. He lived 14 years and was a therapy dog and mascot for the halfway house I managed, won Dog-of-the year when the residents nominated him and was my very, very best friend.  He died in 2003 and I'm still not over it.  You can see his picture and read his story.. but take tissues if you go!  www.doggilama.org

My dearest friend is my husband. I met him when I was 14. I was going with his cousin and for some reason I still don't know, Kenny insisted that I just had to meet his cousin. He came by at lunch in the school cafeteria. I became suddenly very aware of the 'not nice' way I was eating and that I had forgotten dessert (pure sin to forget!). I also was homonally aware of my large butt and didn't want to walk to the service area for dessert. A real gentleman, Dave went for me.
That day was 49 years ago. We're still in love. My butt's getting back to the size it was then…someday, maybe. But he loves me large or small.

on the 1st trip: i didn't see anyone who felt right ~ like i was drAWN to.
on the 2nd trip: i met TWO wee little black Labs***!!!! (i love labradors xx000). they were bro + sis. i played with them thru the bars, with my voice + soft touching & hyper loving energy / appreciation.
on my second trip around to peek in on them: they were passed out! too much exCItement@@@@ oh my holiness in little silken black bodies.
LOOOOVE.
unFORtunately ( i thot. @ that time), the homeowner of the place i was renting had been VERy clear on the NO puppies (cuz of the poo + pee ISSues. hahaha) were to be brought home.
on the 3rd visit ( i was fairly down-trodden, bummed out, etc):

I met my dearest friend every year at a family/family friend Christmas party. We were too young to remember each other over the year. She was a little over one and I was almost three. We were both too young to remember each other. Once, I was selling a coupon book to help my school (like a fundraiser) and she happened to be my neighbor! Her mom recognized me and invited me in. Cynthia and I played for hours, I forgot about everything else. My mom got worried and sent the whole neighborhood looking for me. I was grounded for a month, but ever since then, she and I have been best friends. She means the world to me now.

We met by chance.Kurohime and I are both weird so we didn't really fit in.An old aqauintance of mine grabbed my arm and said,”Mine,Ky.Ky,Mine.Now be friends!”

I have 3 best friends: Tiana, Alexis, and Brittny. I can't say I only have one soo I am going to explain about how I met all of them. Alexis: best friend since Kindergarten, I am now going into 11th grade. Tiana, I met her last year in 9th grade. Brittny, I met her this year, and I feel like we have been best friends since we were born.

To me, a best friend is someone who you could tell the world to and they would never tell a soul. A person that wouldn't care if your makeup looked bad, they would just quietly fix it for you. A person who could understand your mood..even when you are trying to hide it. I found those certain people :)

I met Ize in our campus library last year, sitting at the counter of the small cafe inside said library. I sat down next to her to order a soda and happened to glance over at what she had been drawing on a napkin swiped from the dispenser. It was the most intricate celtic knotwork pattern I had ever seen. Naturally I commented on it and instantly we clicked. I have never met another person who is such a delight to talk to. we share many of the same intrests and even on the things we disaregee on we dont argue. But best of all I never have to limit myself in vocabulary or opinions to make myself understood. I appriciate that she doesn't think I'm strange for liking books and enjoying classwork. It was the first time I had ever met someone that understood all of me, instead of just parts of me. we have been close ever scince.
