It was when a nurse gave my dying father his lsat bath.  She was soft spoken, sure in her movements, and serene about his passing.  She touched him in a loving and caring way.  I hope  i thanked her.

I think I have a few, but one is getting my first puppy as an adult. We lived in apartments in NYC, so it was not until I was over 50 years old that I picked my first wonderful puppy from the Humane Society; she has passed now, but I have another lovely dog.

i can relate!

pets touch our lives and hearts in ways humans can never. take for example my little shih tzu. she is like a person in a dog's body. she is like a child to me..my friend, my dog, my “wittle baby”. she is precious to me. i love my other two dogs, and my cat, but she has her special place in my life. i think she cemented that the day i cried. i had her with me at my house, and she had to go back to my mom's, and i was sad my snuggle buddy (she sleeps beside me all through the night when she is here) was leaving. so i cried. she looked at me and started licking my face, as if to say “don't cry!! i'm always here! i love you!”

thank you cindy for sharing this!

This one's easy for me.   When my son was born.  I fell in love with the top of his head and it's been that way ever since then.

JAGADISH: aw! cute! i've never been to a birth, as i choose not to, but i'm there when all the screaming and yelling is over, and the baby is being passed around. it is exciting and wonderful when a new family member comes into the world :D it must be even more exciting when you are the parent!

DHARMABUM: again, cute! why the top of his head? did he have a ton of hair when he was born? some of my cousins did..i know that my brother did..

thank you both for your beautiful replies!

eh! age is a number we humans use to count how many years we've been meandering the earth. i love the meandering..no set course. just go wherever you please.

why couldn't you see the birth? i bet that is an awesome feeling..becoming the proud father! of course, i wouldn't truly know, as i will be the proud (and TIRED) mom if i chose to have little Suni's running around.

thanks! i just add what i like there..! i see you're a swimmer! do you swim in the ocean? i swim in lake superior! i have pictures in the My Art album in my pictures if you are curious.

light and joy to you!

really? i am happy i made you happy then! btw, i love that word..meander..love it. thank you for your acknowledgement, Jagadish! i appreciate it.

i'm not entirely sure i would want to watch a baby being delivered..all that screaming and yelling..unless it was my sister, i don't care to see a birth!

whoa!! a big pool?! like one in a gym..or an olympic one? i love swimming in big pools, because i can push myself off the side of the wall and dart through the water.

i am pleased to have brought light and joy to you!

I have two that kind of tie. The first is when I finished reading my first book. It opened up my eyes to different worlds and different ideas. The second was when I finished writing my first book because I got to create a world of my own.

Bubbles: what was your first book that you read? first that you wrote? i create my own worlds through my art, and the random little snidbits and tales i spin. i posted one in the gaia lounge like a month ago titled “a dinosaur bit my foot”, out of a random whim!

thank you for this reply! (i can imagine myself reading one of my books..kind of taught myself how to read.. i do not recall what the book was called. all i know is that it had a black kitten and an orange kitten! i remember struggling to read it)

You taught yourself to read? That's very admirabe. Good job ^_^.
It was a Doctor Seuss book and my mom had to help me read it, but I loved the cute characters and stll do.
The first story that I wrote was about a Dead End Road that was cursed because a kid got scared on his birthday and I wrote that when I was 8. To say I was a weird kid's an understatement.

My most precious moment was in May 1974 when I went on my first airplane flight.  It was my wedding gift and I was going to visit my parents homeland which was Switzerland.  What a beautiful country it was.  Exactly like the postcards show, a beautiful clean country.  I got to see some relatives that I had never met.  My father was there when we landed so he was able to translate for my husband and myself.  A precious moment etched in my memory.  I have since been back to visit in1989.

Looking for a most precious moment would be like trying to stop time.  Looking for a most precious moment would be ingratitude and a taking for granted of that which is with me right in front of my 'eyes'.
However, I am grateful for knowing this and for the most part being able to utilize some wisdom in use.  I am entirely grateful for noticing and then ignoring so that I can notice something else.  over and over and over and over…same but never the same
