Hey Gael!  So many things make my heart sing…WOW…I find that I am so passionate about so much…everything really…I don't even have to look for it anymore, it is there when I open my eyes in the morning…the sheets I awaken on…the sunlight streaming through my window…my wonderful comfortable bed!  This body that awaken in, allowing me to stretch and move and feel so many wonderful sensations…the smile that naturally happens when I settle into being even before my feet hit my soft carpeted floor!  Then, there is the wheat toast I ate with my plain yogart and frozen blueberries was amazing!  The taste, savoring each bite, cool, wet, tasty, sweet, then the wheat and grain taste, toasted…the mix of them in my mouth…then I cheated a little and had a wonderful cup of hazelnut coffee with truvia…I am very passionate about hazelnut and truvia…they make my heart SING!!!  There has been such a soft contentment within…balance…then, I came online and found a few emails from a few of my favorite people here on Gaia!  I feel so much gratitude…look how much I have written about what makes my heart SING, and I have barely scratched the surface!

I like like the way you write Starlight girl.  I could feel and see everything as if I was there with you. I felt your pationate emotions.  Especially the frozen blueberies with yogurt and wheat toast mmmmmmmm. All the lutiousness mmmmmmmm.  You got me begging for moore.

The small moments that lead to profound thoughts. 


For me, this mostly happens when I'm basking in nature and listening to music.  The most recent time this happened was on Saturday at the beach.  I was sitting on the porch watching the sun rise over the water listening to a song called “Soul Meets Body.”  The night before I had done a tarot reading with The Goddess Tarot Deck and one of the cards I pulled was “Yemaya: Balance.”  The image on the card is the goddess on the shore of the ocean.  And as I sat there watching the waves and listening to the song, the water started to symbolize the soul and the sand (earth) came to symbolize the the body.  And I realized that the beach was a wonderful representation of where Soul meets Body.


 Something clicked within me.  It wasn't a thought per se…just an understanding.  I didn't have to do anything to achieve balance…in that moment I learned balance from Nature.  It was so easy!  And it made my heart sing!

I love nature and wildlife. Painting/creating.  Photography and writing!
My dogs, my cats….There is a lot of things that make my heart sing.

My beautiful dog Lotte - a Tibetan Spaniel who is my best friend now that my soul mate is no longer with us, and my grandsons who make their Granma's heart positively sing with the love I receive.

Today, my heart sings a special tune reserved for when my son does something I wanted to do when I was younger, but never did. Yesterday, he sent us the pictures he and his friend took on their trip to the summit of Mt Fuji. Ian is by no means outdoorsy, but his friend, who will return to the U.S. later this year, wanted to go, so Ian went along. It took two days, and each of them nearly quit more than once, but they made it. I cannot tell you how proud I am. The two young men were exhausted at the end, but they made it to the car, slept for an hour, then Ian drove back to Niigata, called his grandmother, then called us, then slept for 14 hours.  Lots of “look how great my son turned out, despite my many lacks in parenting skills!!!!” tunes going around my little corner of this plane.

When I ask my angels a question before I go to sleep and then I get a precise answer in my dream - that makes my heart smile. And they never give boring answers, they include it in a very entertaining storyboard ;)

Another thing that makes my heart sing: when I take a walk in nature and wild birds land on my head or my shoulders. They do that a lot - I don't know why but it makes me feel very blessed that they do that. So when that happens they are not the only ones singing ;) I join in.

When I am able to play uncautiously with others of a simmilar open nature. We get into the flow of it and ride with it.  In total trust and laughter allowing it to take us where it will.  Basically when ever I get into the flow or rythum with anything eg.peeling cucumbers and dancing in a rithmic motion.  It feels like I am one with it and flying with it energetically.
When I get to express from within in any for of dance, writing, creating….
Music ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.  The vibrations just dive right in and I am mesmorised, energised, tantalised.
Sunset/sunrise, the moon.  It almost feels as I am transforming or evolving with it.
So good  so good

This is one of my favorite all time question.

I think we have an inbuilt monitor systems, and it's called the heart, and the singing is the very thing that measures whether we are rating ourselves with love.

I'm not sure if there is anything that really makes my heart sing in particular, it's more about whether I'm being gentle on myself; whether I'm trying to meet some illlusory outcome that comes from expecting high expections of myself.  I think for me, it's about forgiveness, that's the thing that is important, being able to just embrace myself as I am, with my lumps and bruises and loving who I am as I  am.

I guess I like cake, yeah that's it.  Banana and coconut cake, lemon icing, fresh strawberries and cream.  And hey, when I sit alone and the world disintegrates, I play music, it's like time stops and somehow my guitar plays by itself, without thinking, me minus my head.

The movement of fiingerpicked guitar chords, improvisation and voice together is quite a powerful thing, it's sensual in a way, the true meaning of sensual, the senses being alert, so alive that in that moment there is nothing else, in that space is God, at the heart of things…. and then it sings

My heart sings when my husband and daughter tell me “I love you”. My daughter who is 17 months old and drooling from the many teeth sprouting in her little mouth says: “ Aye Looooove UUUUU”. And I am in heaven…

There are many things that incite music in my heart. I am privileged to live near the Pacific Ocean, and have been really enjoying the songs of the shore birds, especially the Black Oystercatcher, with its loud, insistent calls. They are also quite lovely, with their bright red/orange beaks, pink legs and black bodies. You can share some of the joy of shore birds at my blog, pauljimerson.blogspot.com. A friend recently got the iBird iPhone app, which is a real treat for bird lovers.

Whatever I may be doing when I'm living in the moment sure makes my heart sing!

So being one with nature, praying, and all the other 'sings' mentioned earlier, like SINGing, SwimmING, danc(S)ING, relax (S)ING

and minus the S for breathing (the rhythm makes me sing), listening to music (natural and man-made). cooking, reading, doing yoga, laughing….

the smell of the wood, the cold touch of the wind, gentle sunshine, savage mountain winds, the reflection of the sun on water, moon/stargazing, biking in the early morning, watching the sunrise/sunset, watching the sky, singing, laughing, improvising on my piano, being around him.. and others, which I currently am unable to call to mind xp

My family!  We have an unusual bond….we have more fun together than apart.  We seem to get each other's jokes when no one else does…we just work, you know?  I feel so blessed because I almost lost this…if i would not have been given the gift of sobriety several years ago, it would be a much different story.  My life is good…not in things that are tangible, material, or you can touch, but in boundless and undeserved blessings from the inside out.  What a gift!

When I really feel a “touch” from God.  I am a believer & cling to the beliefs of the Christian faith, however, I haven't really spent as much time with God as I should, hence, I don't experience God like I could.
But yesterday, after a particularly grueling argument, I sprawled out on the trampoline in our backyard & disappeared into my music like I sometimes do. My MP3 player is my friend.  I was listening to some 3rd day songs, and after a while I started to experience the Holy Spirit wrapping His arms around me and I felt so enveloped with the Love of God it was incredible.  Eventually I ended up jumping up & down on the trampoline just praising God & worshiping him.  And my heart was singing.
