Queer Mythos, Stories, Evolving a New Paradigm of being Gay

it's time to bring back the traditions of this integral part of society.

Gay people prevail in every religion, cultural, ethnic group in the world—perhaps it is these very people who could unite the world?

This is a forum to discuss creative ways to invite back the myths and create new ones so that politicians and...(more)

i have been thinking about 'queer themes' the past few weeks/months. noticing that different gay people have different journeys, but there are themes. sorta like the archetypes in carolyn myss's project 'sacred contracts'.

reminds me a bit of noah's arc on logo tv where they list of the stereotypes of the different characters. the model/actor, the slut, the writer, etc… i forget what they are.

for me i am thinking about more, the bears, the leather daddies, the queens, the conservative gay boys, the circuit boys, etc.. the mormons, the ex-mormons, the southern baptists, the catholics (gay ones of course) is that what you are referring to?

Something I have struggled for the past years is to have a social gay life. I have many faghags in my social circle, but gay men under 45 usually flee from me. I'm long-haired, am usually with stubble, wear white glass frames and baggy clothes. And my Indigo Child behaviour seems to be terrifying for gay men. In Brazil, I've never met one single gay man that does not wear the skinny top, keeps hair in style (which is usually short or trimmed or shaved) and tans. Also, there is the universal fixation in bodybuilding, which I find disgusting but can deal pretty well with (My boyfriend bodybuilds every Summer). My sexual life has never been very active (even though all sexual partners I've had told me I'm an epic lover) due to that. All my gay and straight friends get flirted in gay clubs, any club, but I never get a single response to a greeting.

I have no idea on why is that, but I admit feeling brokenheart with this. I do have the childish expectation of having a gay community to protect me.

hi awen…

welcome to the pod. there is another pod 'conscious queers' which also may be of interest to you.  that pod has more of a focus on living consciously as a gay man which may be of interest to you. this pod seems to be more about exploring creative ideas around gay issues (not that we mind your posts here at all. i am part of the management of both pods. you just may get some additional connection there and find that you enjoy the cross pollination like i do. different people in each group and different themes/subject matter.

verrrrrrrrry interesting.

i've traveled thru brazil,

and there is a strong crossover of many myths., tribal, machismo, yoruba, etc…

this discription yourself and how you identify others and them to you, is actually brought on, or influenced by a sore lack of any myth frame storie set for gay men/women…

most of queer culture is a dynamic and slave to madison avenue advertising/commodification.  I worked in advertising in new york city, and certainly it has helped me to see through a lot of the images that are conjured to “sell” more product,.

I think, what we do, is start smale in doing some theaterre, some sort of hip zine/ or other tools to cultivate a new awareness of “queer identity/self” in a changing fast world…

I'll think of this some more,,, but off i go for now…

PS, it's always been my thought that the Bars for example are visits to the underworld, so that “shapeshifting/eros etc. can be conjured….

more on that
