LOOKING AT THE RESPONSES TO HEALING
As reiki is used over time feelings and intuition are heightened – we make more impact on our environment and our environment makes more of an impact on us. A lot of insight is gained just though listening and observing not only what is being said, but also what is not being said! The tone of voice is also a valuable indicator. Deeply rooted emotion takes a good while to work through and time, patience and sensitivity to feelings is especially needed.
Emotions seem to be situated in the solar plexus region – and when these emotions are close to the surface often we may feel them. The feeling varies from person to person but in general there can be a churning feeling, flipping or some people say they have “butterflies” in their tummy. As these emotions are released often through angry words or crying or both, tiredness and lethargy may ensue, followed by a burst of creative and inspirational thought and activity.
When these emotions are released, physical symptoms may also be experienced, for example loose or frequent trips to the toilet, nausea/sickness, runny nose or a lot of thick mucous being released. These symptoms vary in length from minutes to hours or even days. This is why it is a good idea to drink plenty of fluids, especially water so the body does not become dehydrated and out of balance – a general sign of this would be tiredness and/or headaches.
When emotional ties and bonds are severed we can actually feel - what seem like threads dangling from the solar plexus. These threads may either shrink and disappear or they may become attached to another person/situation. Sometimes as bonds are formed with others we may feel like shielding our sensitive belly areas - we may begin to build up “armouring” first in the auric levels and then if this continues, we build up areas of physical protection too, also around the belly area.
As you negotiate the path of life and your own healing becomes deeper and more intense you become more ready to cope with these responses and start recognising them in others. Often in going through your own pain (healing) you find the key to unlock an emotional healing response in others. You may find that the “issues/life challenges” that you are facing are mirrored in other people/situations that you come across in your daily life. If we are able to recognise this we are one step nearer to taking responsibility for ourselves.
As emotional, mental, spiritual and physical equilibrium is gained the emotions may swing violently in all directions until a balance point is eventually found. This is why when working towards “healing” when the emotions are stirred and are taking a while to settle, to refrain from taking on too much or making important decisions in any area of life until we feel absolutely “ready”. This is especially important to anyone in the healing professions. |
