Yes, thankyou….  my heart is touched- and fed, by the vulnerabilty that each person let “be.”  It's like seeing truth and spirit through the material of body. Sacred intimacy. Or rather, body as spirit.

Thankyou Diane for your openness, and your tears before you sang. I feel like I could talk to you about anything. From the broken zip on my jacket to the heartbreak and sadness of being a woman.

Thankyou Robert for your most masterful insight, skill, intuition, clarity and consistency. The space was intense, safe, alive and completely trust worthy.

I intend to attend the Retreat at Duncton Mills in May.

And whilst im at it !I love the last line of this message.

A Message From the Hopi Elders

You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.

Here are the things that must be considered:

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know our garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.

Create your community.

Be good to each other.

And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!

There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.

They will try to hold on to the shore.

They will feel like they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.

The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off toward the middle of
the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

See who is there with you and celebrate!

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally,   least of all
ourselves!

For the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

The time of the lonely wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!

Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.

All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.

Hi Steve, Sharon (and good day to you, Tg :) )

I'm getting to meet the Sheriff this coming Saturday (and Sunday)… where I might find out to what degree I'm on the wrong side of the law… being, as I am, part of the UK Chain Gang rather than the UK Posse…

Sharon, you referred to a retreat at Duncton Mills in May. Is that the Duncton Mill in Sussex? If it's the same place I'd love to hear details of the retreat – I've done some work with Mike Boxhall there.

Btw, my name's Lol and I live in what is currently a wet and windy Devon.

Hi guys

Back in the real world now, great wasn't it!

I've got several questions and stuff to post, later when I've caught up with the shopping, the ironing, un-done homework etc…….

Hi Lol!

Robert and Diane have booked a 5-day residential group “A Deeper Life” at Duncton Mill (“first in the top 10 worldwide healthy retreats” according to The Guardian May 12th 2007) in Sussex, UK, from May 13th-17th 2009. There are, of course, tuition fees and food and lodging fees. Approx 675 sterling and 350 sterling, respectively (no pound signs on my laptop.) I'm saving!

“This group will be a catalyst and a sanctuary for such deeply transformative work.”  There will also be time for spiritual deepening practices.

We get to spend time together as a group, in the evenings and at mealtimes. Robert and Diane said that is their preference.

Maximimum of 16 participants only.

Thanks, Sharon!

Those fees are way outside my budgeting capacity so I'd better stop thinking about this retreat – hI may well hear talk of it this weekend.

Btw, I hope you're putting your money under the mattress and not in the bank!

Broken down per day, it's about $200. (I have to think in dollars, sorry.) That seems like little more than most people would spend for a holiday without  Robert and Diane.

I was thinking that was a good price for such a long retreat, but I understand: you only have what you have in the bank, right? (Or under the mattress!)

Neither do I!

I've always been very creative with how I fund expeditions of any kind. “Scholarship” is my middle name. Or, maybe, “Volunteer” is my middle name…or, “can I sleep on your floor?”

I've gotten much less worried about looking poor, anyway. Pride goeth before a fall.

I have never spent this much money on myself either on a holiday or in therapy, nor on furniture or education and neither have I ever had even half this amount of money in the bank, but some things just deserve that value and in my opinion, in my life, this retreat is one of them. So I'm going to employ patience, trust and effort in order to find myself trundling down to Duncton Mill on the South Downs.

When I first read Darkness Shining Wild and thought, “I have got to meet this guy” and made my first appointment with Robert, I was very much in the “can't afford therapy” mindset - but I “knew” that my health insurance plan would cover a certain amount of psychotherapy per year.  However my insurance company rejected my request for reimbursement, after I'd done several sessions.  My first thought was, “I can't afford to continue this” quickly followed by “this work is too valuable to pass up” - so I continued to go to sessions and workshops, though with various intervals of time in between as I saved up money etc.

I've been scraping by for most of my adult life so far, and rather than invest in future bio-security - which seems illusory to me, as mentioned in How is the current U.S. economic crisis affecting your life? (an impression reinforced by talking with people who've lost their retirement savings after being good little worker ants their entire lives) - I've tended to invest in things like training and therapy.

Of course at times I just can't afford to do certain things, but surprisingly often I've been able to focus my resources towards the upper levels of Maslow's pyramid.  If my food and shelter requirements are taken care of, I'm much more likely to do a workshop than go on a vacation, for example.

Robert and Diane's work is so deep and potent that it's well worth the cost; I get great value in return.

The existential turbulence our civilization is passing through - and chances are good that we ain't seen nothing yet - is such that I have no fucking idea what the future will bring.  It helps motivate me to become a better dream character, learn to get along better with other dream characters, and simultaneously wake up from the dream.  Considered in that context, if the dream becomes a nightmare - personally and/or civilization-wide - it's more grist for the mill.

Diane and Robert's work is very helpful with this project.  :)

spiral out,
Arthur

p.s. Listening to Diane's music, e.g. Sacred Hymn, is highly recommended to tune into those workshop vibes again.  :)

Thanks for this little insight into you Arthur. I like hearing how you/we place value on certain things. People always seem to assume that if a person is seeking personal growth on holistic, spiritual levels, then, it should be free, because, it’s somehow God- related and the subject of money, ironically takes the value out of it….. This is also reflected in the caring professions (support workers, rehabilitation workers) that they are doing it because they are “nice” and therefore don’t need the money.

I don’t own a house and I’ve never owned a car- there are alternatives, but personal growth? there is no alternative. I’d rather come to understandings rather than gather experiences and possessions. Like you say, as long as food, shelter and other things on that level are taken care of…… my money which equals energy, can flow to what is not just best for me, but for all on an inner visions level.

Priorities do shift around at different times in life, I have observed.  When I started working with Robert I had never done any therapy before, and i had not been on many expensive holidays either.  I have to say, the opportunity to start opening up to  become aware of my shadowy aspects, and to release all the energy I have been storing up, and further to have the space of mutuality held and mentored for me….this has all been invaluable to me.

This is so true, Jane. Even now, I sometimes let the “I can't afford it” routine stop me from trying. It's very self-defeating.

When I heard about the Integral Theory Conference, I simply assumed I couldn't afford it. Then I went to the website, after weeks of hearing about it (with all the attendant envy and sadness on my part). I found out they were asking for volunteers to work, and it would only cost $50 to go to the conference. I signed up immediately.

This was a good strategy when I was a child. Learning how not to expect anything helped me get by. But now, it's a maladaptive behavior that needs retooling.  Not being attached to outcome is good, but not even trying to get what I want/need is self-limiting.
