Bringing Your Ass into Your Heart

Liz said Oct 11, 2008, 7:26 AM:

From the May 2005 Newsletter: a wee gem of a practice!

*************

When we make an ass of ourselves, we tend to forget our ass. A tight ass is usually hooked upwith a constipated mind. When you feel foolish, tense, or infected with worry, do this instant practice: Loosen your anal sphincter, letting it relax and soften. Don’t force it. Visualize it as a rubber donut, and let it soften, unwrinkle, and let go. Notice how this relaxes your perineum, belly, throat, and jaw. It takes just a few seconds, needing only your permission to let go.

When someone — including your inner critic — tells you, directly or indirectly, that you’re being an asshole (or something similar), immediately check the state of your sphincter —chances are it’s gotten tight. Let it go, and let it go with care, remembering that bringing your ass into your heart is of immense benefit to all sentient beings.

Do you think 'they' can see it? :D

I like it! I'm sure I won't be able to keep a straight face - perhaps that's part of the practice.

No question! They can see it, alright. On your face, of course…

Rolling on the floor laughing your ass off is a great technique for loosening your anal sphincter!  Glad I could be of service.  :)

cheers,

*laughing. Oh My God. This is just hillarious. Thank-you Arthur and Liz.

You know, I've been paying more attention to the sphincter of my anus through Tibetan yogic practice, it really is quite fascinating.

I have been noticing that when  … interseting, I never thought I'd be saying this sentance any time in my life … my asshole is tight my heart also clenches. Come to feel of it I tihnk potentially a lot of other areas tighten as well, the perenium, jaw, eyes and tightness in a vague or subtle way in my hands and feet too. Deep breathing and a slight seat shuffle, if I'm sitting down, is very useful for me, as well as checking in with the back of my neck and the soles of my feet.

It seems Robert writing on this adds a fantastic expansion to the phrase “walking round with his/her head up his/her ass” by saying that if we feel more fully with feeling awareness into our ass than we will be more open to the world, awake and responsive.

I so appreciate Robert for these kinds of gems and others such as the left eye feeling more responsive. I'm excited  by this!

well….after all the talk lately about synchronicity and premonition, this is a right on topic for us!  I just saw this thread this morning after returning from the hospital where Robert just had a biopsy done for a prostate cancer check (ow).  We had to smile at the irony of the timing, when he can barely sit on his own tight, sore ass.

we will get the results back in a week and keep you posted.

Hey  …

Reading this I felt slight shock and as Liz said, worry. I then made a wish for nice soft chairs for Robert. I hope he is ok and I am sure this experience is being used well by you both.

*sending love also

Thanks, Liz and Rich.  We have been using it well for the 2 months we've been waiting for the test.  A great deal of surrender, acceptance, and feeling very vulnerable.  There is just as good a chance that the test will come back negative as it could be positive, but this has given us an opportunity to really evaluate our priorities, our work, our goals, and open more fully to the grace of guidance and the Mystery of what is ahead.

love,
Diane

May it remind all of us to evaluate our priorities, open to the Mystery, and remember how precious and fleeting life is.  Hopefully the test will come back negative, but regardless, none of us are here for more than a blink of the kosmic eye.

As Robert says, “there's no such thing as an insignificant act”  and the work you're both doing is having a very positive impact on a lot of lives.

Much love to you both.

namaste,
Arthur

wow what a thread. I have never laughed so heartily at a thread and then plummeted into depth and non-humour so extremely. This epitomizes Robert's work about embracing intimately all that we are: high and low, dying and non-dying etc,

I love you all.

Robert, Diane,

I was listening to some audio tapes about health and healing and the suggetion was to see the process as a reorganization of energy.

So for Robert, sending my thoughts of his reorganization with an outcome of perfect health.

Much love,

In a dream this morning, I'm standing in the kitchen talking with Robert, who is telling me to tense all the muscles in my body to more deeply and consciously feel the tension I'm already carrying. I hold my breath and tense all my muscles, gradually becoming aware of more muscles I haven't consciously tensed, and including them. Unable to hold my breath much longer, I realize Robert is no longer there to give me the next instruction.  I release all the tension I'm holding and breathe deeply.

Here's some more ass-related comic relief. The following was originally posted in the Funny Ha-Ha or Funny Strange thread on Oct. 6, 2008:
