• What or who is a Teacher?
Your mirror, anyone you chose to learn from, and anything you chose to learn from. A person who actively shows you a new perspective. Pushes you to your own experience. or a tree
• What or who is a Student?
Anyone, everyone, I am
• Who was your first Spiritual Teacher?
Unknown bag lady, or maybe it was a tree, or my dreams. Jesus
I have had many spirit teachers and guides. (I’m slow I guess it takes a few!) Richard Bach, Seth, Jane Roberts, Jerry Winters, Iching, The Toa, Ken Wilbur, Sonja Johnson, Joseph Weed, Gary Zukav,Tollie,Bryon Katie, Pitaka, Gangaji
CC, DMR, Heather Ash, on and on…
• Assuming that two individuals have chosen to formalize their relationship into a Teacher/Student dynamic what are their responsibilities to each other?
Truth, I ask my students to show up and do their best. I do the same.
I lead my students by the hand to look into their mirror, until they can see it on their own. I clarify their beliefs, until they can see and own them themselves. I hold intent for them to learn and grow in a gentle way.
• what is your response to:
_ I will teach you if you _________ (fill in the blank).
I don’t know and I have turned people down who have asked me to teach them. It’s about wasting time, or their willingness, something.
If you and I match energetic-ly. ( I also charge $$, time or work, for my classes and sessions)
• What kind of agreements happen between Teacher and Student?
From my perspective, many, and if the teaching goes well most of the agreements will change. So first the student must agree that that teacher has something to teach them, if this isn’t true to start with it’s ok, because the teacher can hook their attention and show them. Then the student sees the teacher as knowing something they don’t. This helps the student to pay attention to listen. So the student has an agreement that there is something to learn. My agreement with my students is that they have power and don’t know it, it’s my job to show them their power. Toward the end of a teaching they have come to experience their own power, so now they see. We become equals so the agreement changes. As a teacher the students are also mirrors for me. when they trigger me, I then look for my lessons, if I’m not triggered then it’s not my lesson. I often learn from students, this exchange helps to keep me present and growing.
• What are the ramifications of that dynamic?
Worship/ dependency, expanded ego for teacher.
Sometimes the student has the teacher on a pedestal and of course the teacher must come down.
• Can we be both at the same moment? Yes of course,
I am always learning from my students and my own mirror. I interact with the universe and it plays back with me. Plus there’s all the stuff of how to teach this, to this student, as each student’s needs are different your dancing all the time looking for the way to crack their world. Sometimes you have to crack them many times before they can see on their own. In the course of the dance you’re learning and growing. That’s not even the lesson plans or what to teach next. When I teach I use many traditions or materials, or how to advertise ect….
These questions have make me question and define and question so thanks, Of course this is still a learning process for me and everything I say could be wrong. I would be interested in hearing others on this issue.
