Global Gaia Gathering in the Emerald City

Hello Emerald City People!

It's been almost a year since our Global Zaangha Day here in the Emerald City (see last year's gathering). We were still Zaadz back then. Ahh, change happens, for the better :)

As you know, we've completed our transition to Gaia Community. But guess what? Zaanghas (or gatherings) are still alive, and blossoming… August is Global Gaia Gathering month! (see Global Gaia Gathering Day + August + You!)

Are you interested in attending the gathering? Send me a message or post your reply on this thread. Let's get a head count and take it from there :) For now let's schedule the gathering on Aug. 9.

Since I already did the organizing last year, I'd like to give other people a chance to organize this year's gathering. If there's anyone interested in hosting and/or organizing the event please feel free to let us know. For ideas on organizing cool things to do at the gathering, see Jessica's tips.

Having been at last year's gathering, I am definitely up for another one, and Saturday August 9 works for me, afternoon or evening. Probably afternoon is better for most folks.

I am not able to host or facilitate, but I could assist in some way.

We have a place already. All I ask from the attendees is to bring something to drink or eat :)

I'm posting here the email I sent to all group members.

Our meetup will be on Aug. 9, Saturday 12-3pm in downtown Kirkland. I'll send the address info driving directions to those who will be coming.

So what are we to do during the gathering? Let's do something fun and meaningful. I request you (all attendees) to bring one of your favorite books that changed your life. We'll each take turns in discussing why this one book is meaningful to us, and then (this is the fun part) we'll give that book away to the other attendees. This is one way of releasing our attachments and paying it forward. I told you it would be fun :)

We'll then top the afternoon with a DVD house party (from Spiritual Cinema Circle). (Not sure yet what movie we're going to watch but I've requested a bunch of DVDs already. We'll pick the movie on the spot). Don't worry, these are short movies so you'll have the rest of the afternoon to bask under the Kirkland sun :)

I'm not sure I can attend yet, but I would like the information in case I can make it. I already have my book picked out and the movie sounds great.

I'm bummed that I won't be able to come AGAIN because of work. 
It's TRUE what they say about all work and no play!
Still would love to meet you in the future.  If I could only arrange Saturday's off!

I have personally invited one-two people who might attend. Last year we had 7, and this year instead of only 4, which it looked like at first, we'll probably have even more !! YAYYY!!!

A post-meeting post !!

We had a marvelous time, 5 of us, more than the allotted 3 hours and still talking away !! I'll let ~C4 and others do the summary, just posting some followups here, giving others a taste of what they missed !!

Alana, the microdonations Group is Donations and Microdonations for Individuals and Groups, and the cultivator is Apollia. You can reach her by clicking on her picture or name on the Group home page. (It might take awhile, she doesn't check into this site very often.)

In going there again I realized she ran into some challenges around the community policy of not asking people for money, and I think she transferred her activities elsewhere. But I doubt there would be a problem with creating a resource list of organizations and groups who handle or sponsor or facilitate microdonations, as we talked about.

You could compile that list as a member, or you could ask her to make you a moderator if you can show her you need more administrative abilities to do what you want to do. I don't have time now to explain what administrators CAN do, but when the time is right, email me for that info. I don't know that it is posted anywhere, but you might search The Gaia Groups Community ('the Mod Pod”) for the term administrator and see if the description is posted there. I think we started on the list of functions but didn't finish it.

And, Alana, the movies pod I am cultivator of is zFilms. ~C4, not only are you responsible for my discovering the group, but now you have greatly expanded the options for making it visible by suggesting I put the Featured Films of the Week (One current, one old) each week in my blog !!!! Such a creative idea !!!! And I have already added a Board for documentaries, as the need emerged during our talk, and actually I had thought about doing it anyway !!

~C4, thank you for your generous hosting, and thanks to your wonderful wife for the substantial feeding of us all !! It was great to meet “your Dakini” – now “wife” – after reading about your wedding!

And I would like to apologize to you for one exchange you and I had, about the definition of “administrator” of Groups. I “made you wrong,” and wish I had been more diplomatic. I think you were saying that only cultivators are administrators, and moderators are not. I forget what ~Matthew's definitions are, but he and I had a discussion once, and I was (and still am) of the opinion that the only definitions that seem to match the reality of functions is that both cultivators and moderators are administrators. They can both click on the “admin” button, haha, so that sort of defines things. And I view any other use of the term as conducive to confusion. However, I am just presenting my view, and certainly am not the dictionary who gets to define the terms as used in the community !! In any case, it's not respectful to say or imply “You are wrong!!!” and I am sorry I did that, and you were gracious not to engage with that energy !!!

And thanks for your generosity in gifting us with Spiritual Cinema Circle DVDs. What a great inspiration, to do that. The short one we all saw was very moving, very uplifting.

After last year we all said we'd get together again soon, but we didn't. This time I feel the momentum to “make it so,” and will be posting opportunities on this Board here in our Seattle Group.

Aley, we missed you, sorry you were not feeling well.

Everyone else who missed this opportunity to face-to-face, you really did miss something enriching and uplifting. The cyberspace is so much warmer when you have touched the people !!

Can't wait to see the photos ~C4 took !!! We co-created the unusual Presentation !

Will let others talk about whatever; the book descriptions and exchange was a terrific deepening of our relating, as was the general conversation. We are especially lucky to have a Team member, ~C4, in our group, so we can pick his brain about the workings of the site, the community, the how to's, the history. What fun !!!!!

I cannot believe I said I would attend the night is is already over? It was night some part of the day,. I worked on the screeplay. It started pouring down rain. I found this email and thought I had a few days… that is how fast time flies.
