HummingBird oh Meenakshi, I missed your post until now! I'm afraid I dont always remember to look at the grapevine for some reason - maybe because it doesnt send notifications. I'm glad you pointed out the triple one membership moment! Mmm maybe The Dark Side was new at that time - can't remember well. The pod is always growing! Love (4 months ago)

Friday Design

My husband is an exhibit designer and explains it very well…given the same parameters from a client what he designs on a Wednesday will be completely different than what he does on Thursday. When he first explained this Wednesday design concept, I knew he was a man that deeply understood creativity and inspiration and although he didn't have the “spiritual” language he was there all the same.

I’m laughing about that today because I’ve had an incredible pendant sitting on my jewelry work table now for a couple of weeks…it’s labradorite and smoky quartz and truly stunning. Last week I got in some kyanite rondels and put them next to the pendant…lovely. But still no inspiration. This morning I was working on a necklace for a client and had some new smoky quartz nuggets in hand…I suddenly looked over at the labradorite and Kyanite and it all just came together. No sooner had I started working than my husband came in the room to see what I was working on…reaction was OMG. Always nice. :>)

If I had worked on this earlier in the week, the design would probably have been okay, but it would have been uninspired and coming from a more mental place. This morning I allowed myself to put aside work that I should be doing for BioElectric Shield and just going into the creative zone, I made several bracelets for a special order, designed a very lovely necklace…and Then the inspiration came.

Does this explain, what inspires me? Maybe, maybe not. Inspiration comes from the outer things I see and touch and feel, but it also can come from a deeper combination and sometimes that is elusive, is it the energy of the day, the world, the stones and gems I have around me, the sweet, sweet thank you  note from a very happy jewelry customer…a combination of all of the above? I don’t know the answer, I only know that the moments of this kind of inspiration are magical and give a wonderful flow and meaning to my life. My only hope is that everyone in some way finds these aha moments for themselves.

sounds like the creative process!

the muse comes unbeckoned ….

I'm remembering my art school days. There was a period when I was in the studio 9-5, most days. I wasn't always inspired. But there were so many days when the painting happened in the most unexpected moments. Like when I was tired, had a cold, or just didn't 'see it'…
and at other times when I felt great - there wasnt necessarily a great artwork. Sometimes it was the other way round. No recipe. What I did learn was - 'get in there and make art'. One never knows what's going to happen until one's doing it!

Oh how cool! I think in your story I find a lesson that we need to get our mind out of the way for the inspiration to flow through, it’s as if our minds are trying to find it but the mind won’t as it is too intellectual and calculating etc, we have to move it out of the way and voila :) or you could say use the right side of the brain not the left.
