Success or failure?

Ian Gardner said Dec 30, 2008, 4:37 PM:

What is success? What is failure?
The answers to these two questions will depend on whether the criterion is spiritual or material. What is material success could be failure spiritually but spiritual success can never be failure!

See success and failure in my blog (and book if you care to).

This is my take on this , and mine alone.
We can not achieve to be successful , until we learn how to fail.
Once we have fallen , and , have failed , we can take the steps up the  ladder to succeed.

Then there is the road in the middle , and this is when your not sure which way to go, which route to take. The only way that you can figure that out is by trying , and this is how we learn , and grow, as success , and failure , have to come hand in hand , as do other things as well. We all succeed , and we all fail , Yet it is what we do with these tools that puts us on the right path , or the wrong path.

Yes , I believ that when I was at the all time lows , the power with in me was always there , the drive , the fire, because , I had the high power , to watch over me , and I am very spirited too.

Thanks Ian,

L

Interestingly, Lori, according to astrology and, if I am not mistaken, numerology, there are two groups of people [mouls] who learn in two different ways: one group learns from observation and reasoning etc. and the other by experiencing whatever it is - they cannot learn without the experience.
I can offer no explanation for this but if we observe people, particularly children, it becomes obvious.

Ian, this is true, but feels a bit general, I'm missing specific reference to your personal journey.

Lori, thank you for sharing the guidelines you apply in your life, which you have learned through experience

Anna,
re: I'm missing specific reference to your personal journey.
Good point, but I do not pay much attention to 'me' in all this, and this is not done consciously. If, however, something personal appeared to be relevant I would mention it.
The point, I suppose, is that I am sort of detached from all this - more like an observer than a participant! I really do not give it much consideration.

NB. However, a search in my blog as suggested may gives more specifics to those you need them.

Interesting comments, Ian, thank you.
The thing which feels ironic to me, is this that pod is all about our personal journey. So that any commenting on posts of others comes from the space of 'journeying together'. Commenting on the journey of others needs to almost be secondary to sharing our own journey. I say 'almost' - because companionship is so important too.
The thin line between living in a 'hands on' way and detachment, is thought provoking.

PS re references to blogs - it may be better to cross post here?

Hi Anna,
When I was at the sink this afternoon I realised that sharing my own journey is exactly what I most often do in my posts. You see most of what I state is my own experience, my neoptions - milestones on my personal journey of seeking the Truth. If these are not helpful, are not thought inducing or do not fit the ideals of this group I will gladly move away without any ill will.
As for blogs, yes, it is possible to cross post.
Much love,
Ian.

Hi Ian, Lori

Good insights. I think there's truth in both your statements.

This may be a little off the beaten path but
When you get to those really “low” points in your life,
including moments when you may think you are a total failure
i.e. a drug addict or depressed people contemplating suicide
they can ironically be “high” points at the same time
….points where some great lesson is ripe
to enter into  your consciousness
in a profound and lasting way
and this is where one can look upon these situations
as both success and failure
high points and low points
and there is so much learning that comes out of them!

When my grandmother died, it was definitely a low point
from the normal worldly view
but from a spiritual and sacred view,
it was a very high point
a kind of turning point

These types of moments
when there is some momentous change about to take place
are moments charged with sacredness
when you temporarily fall outside of your normal reference frames
falling outside your normal reference frame
you are able to see beyond your normal limited vision
paradigm shift

I always say
that Grandma/Jopoa taught me more in death
than she did in life
….and what she taught me in life was immense!
She taught me what it really means
to let go of someone you love
This is such an important lesson for each and every living being
for ultimately, one day we all need to let go of our own life

Before that was my mother's death
both of them taught me
about letting go
in a way that words alone could not
