Namaste, I began taking teacher trainings with Shiva 4 years ago and at the age of 50 (2003) - - Shiva was just the jolt (or bolt of lightening) that my body / mind / spirit was craving. I agree with everything that everyone has said about her. Words don't do justice to the gratitiude that I feel in my heart for what she has taught me in those 4 years and the gifts she has given to me. I've taken at this point about 200 hours of teacher trainings with her and I'm not doing it for the credit. I am currently not in a position to go for the 500 hours - - I'm enjoying moonlighting whenever I can. I live on the East Coast (Boston) and I try to catch her whenever she is anywhere near Boston if at all possible.
My yoga practice and my life have evolved unbelievably over the course of these last 4 years. I averaged seeing Shiva 2 - 3 times per year and it has carried me through unbelievably. At this point I am beginning to internalize the teachings and it has really transformed my life in unbelievable ways. My sadhana looks nothing like what it did 4 years ago.
My life looks nothing like what it did 4 years ago.
2 years ago (approx) I opened a studio in Cambridge, MA. You can check my web site if you like:

I also recently started a blog and I am posting lots of cool videos - some that I shot at Shiva trainings - -
I am including links to some of my videos for your enjoyment and I welcome any feedback on the blog or on the videos:

Thanks to all who have shared little parts of how Shiva has touched their lives on this discussion board. I hope to be checking in more often to see what's happening.
One more thing – about altars – I have a fairly big one at my studio – candles, incense etc - - and students really seem to respond to it. Personally I have a small altar on my floor right against the wall where I practice in my bedroom. I am in the habit of spontaneously placing inspirational items there and it seems to change maybe every 3 - 5 weeks depending on what's going on for me. Right now I have 2 photos of Shiva propped against the wall and one photo of myself in a posture that I like.
Maintaining that connection to source is what I have learned from Shiva, and it is really the only thing that carries me through all the huge challenges of running a yoga studio full time.
