Hi Gloria

The program you are starting for the children in your area sounds great. I would like to hear more about it, like what kind of plays, music and poetry you plan to share with them.

I also think it is so needed for them to be able to express whhat they need or what they are going through in an environment where they will not fear reprisal or judgement. I have only been here for a few months but I have found everyone to be fantastic and no drama on here at all.

      Hello everyone,

I am new to this community and am just test driving. It seems like what I have been looking for. Hoping to find some positive people to link to. I am in the process of coordinating a program in my community that gives children access to culture that they don't even know exist, plays, music, poetry, etc. I alos want to give them a positive place to express their needs and issues in a environment that they can be openly expressive.

These are the preliminary rules of engagement in this pod.

1. Keep it on topic
That makes it more valuable, less watered-down.

2. Keep it respectful
Remember your manners, please; don't be childish.

3. Keep it in motion
We value both the give and take.
Contribute in ways that don't shut down the conversation.

Please respond here with any additions or suggestions that would enhance our community here.

Intention is everything, n'ect-ce pas? So let's start there.

This pod is intended as a meeting point for people in business for themselves with an emphasis on those providing services. So many of us have the desire to make our living in the world in our own way and with the aspiration of doing some good, maybe even a lot of good. Often, this has to be done outside of the tried-and-true structure of large organizations. The trade-off for going it solo or in small groups is a potential feeling of isolation or dearth of support.

The emphasis on service is because so many of us are training so hard to be of service in the world. And because, in practical terms of setting up and maintaining a business, bodywork, for example, has much in common with coaching or sales versus manufacturing or another field.

The support we share here can be emotional (celebrating and commiserating) as well as practical (answering questions, sharing resources, networking). It's yours; what do you need today?

As I step out into a new phase of self-determination, I would like to feel the support of the universe (which is there whether we feel it or not, right?). This pod serves me in that way, too, and I hope it does for you as well.

I promise not to deviate too far from the original point...

Did Buddha not teach a certain lesson simply by holding up a flower?

...When the Buddha held up the flower, one who understands instantly drops all the discursive thinking and judging so common to day to day life and penetrates the great mystery, Understanding instinctively what the Buddha meant. In those moments when we perceive without subjecting our thoughts to the scrutiny of conditioned reasoning and logic, our minds become one with the mind of Buddha. Those who failed, during this sermon, broke a sweat trying to find the meaning behind the acrion and became victims to their rational mind, rather that empty and at peace with their primordial condition.

But enough of that! Back to solo practicionners!

      Welcome Daibhidh!

Thanks for showing up here even before I have invited a single soul! ("If you build it they will come", indeed.)

I feel that there is a movement of people who are literally recreating they way we make our living and or lives in the world. It is often lonely and difficult to be a pioneer. So, why not support each other.

Flowers + Buddhism. What a wonderful combination. Did Buddha not teach a certain lesson simply by holding up a flower?

Thanks to to you again and be well.

      Greetings!

May I start by saying, that the premise behind this pod, and indeed its conception, is a glorious one -and one which I feel, as per emphasis, has been greatly lacking on Zaddz thus far. So thanks be to Amy for kick starting this little discussion group. I hope the numbers of participants become as high as my hopes for such a resource.

--

My name is Daibhidh Rothach and I am a Buddhist and a florist -among other things. I am currently in the process of taking over my first business, which is a floral store as you might imagine, and am getting quickly to grips with all the in's and out's of the conscious business world.

Asides from the living things; the plants and flowers and arrangments -we are also branching out into metaphysical items and books, aswell as a coffee service, focusing on those products of a natural, organic nature.

--

Outside the immeditate business stated above, I am a practicioner of various sorts, including both mediation and the odd flurry into the world of healing. I have of late put serious consideration into marketing (although marketing is a terrible, terrible word for it) that which I hold dear spiritually.

As the reader might tell, those thoughts are in their earlier stages of nurturing and the ground is tilled and ready for inspiration. I am aware of the cliched nature of what I am about to say...but I want to help and aid people in my 'midst, more so than I want to burn a hole in their pocket and make money from them.

--

I feel this pod will be a grand insight into many of the avenues I have often thought of exploring.

Thanks!
