So I've just got done reading a very very very good book.
Princess follows the true story of 'Sultana' a Saudi Princess. [Jean sasson]
It's a real eye opener to how much women in the western world actually have it. While we drive read and dress according to our own veiws, Sultana and the woman of Saudi Arabia are, by religious decree, are at the mercy of their fathers, brothers and husbands.
While they are proud of their heritage, they are fighting subtly to have rights as simple as education.
Saltana is stuck in a world were her spark and intelligence are not reveled but subdued. Even though she is a princess and lives lavishly her own opinion does not count. She is considered a lesser being because she was born a female.
The story is not your typical happy ending but it's the truth.
It's a glimpse into a world that many do not realize exist.
I think every woman and even men should read this book. It's a page turner. You become entranced by Sultana's spit fire attitude and refusal to conform. Her story is tear jerking heart wrenching liberating and humbling. It truely is an amazing story.
Sultana still lives today. She's in her late 50's. She has one son and is married to a man she once loved.
I hope you all will have a look. Princess Trilogy
