What personal brain measurement technology exists today?

I'm talking mostly about some instrumentation gizmo you plug into a computer with the software to measure brain and physiology states.

I remember thinking something interresting should be coming around the corner soon - and that was five years ago.

The last public technology projects I saw, was the OpenEEG project.

Looked a little scary, but…it's always been in the back of mind to try some day!

Check out the site, might be what you're into:

1, Well, I do not know of many personal machines for brain physiology, although the “Thought Technology” products could be adapted to individual use.  But it would still need the expensive 128 channel EEG, or the like.
2, The SourceForge folks have inexpensive “do-it-yourself” EEG, w/ very few channels.
Few channels can be useful for some uses. The Lexicor folks essentially use one channel in biofeedback for alcohol & cocaine addiction. (They try to alter the alpha to beta brainwave ratio.) Sober brainwaves sort of force a sober mind. (Think of it as adjusting the “idle”, or the “set point” of brain activity/excitability.) —[The Lexicor guys are professional.]
