An Amazing Experience

gina said Nov 16, 2008, 4:25 AM:

I thought I would bring this up in here seeing that I was unsure if it should be in another area.  Does that make any sense?  Probably not seeing as it is very early in the morning.  LOL

I want to relate an experience that happened to me at work yesterday.  It was quite exhilirating as well as amazing.

I went to work as usual yesterday.  My shift began at 11 in the morning and I would be there until 8.  I work in our local supermarket in the Deli Department in training for Assistant Manager (keep your fingers crossed).
I had just read a blog that my daughter wrote about my younger daughter and I was concerned about it.  I thought about it all morning and decided that I would just send an email to my little one telling her how proud I was of her and that she should be proud of herself.  I did not mention anything about the blog to her in the email.

Going about my business as usual, taking care of customers and deboning a turkey for the dinner rush.
Soon a customer came up to our “hot case” and wanted some lunch.  His appearance was that of a Native American, deeply tanned, semi long hair and very handsome and very outgoing.  I was on the telephone with my little one at the time and I had put her on “hold” to take care of him. (Please bear with me.  This may get a little rambling, but I need to play this out).  This gentleman was very talkative and sweet.  I learned that he was from Rhode Island and he just came into our store yesterday for the first time.  We exchanged some small talk when the phone rang back.  I excused myself for a second and picked up the phone to tell my daughter that I would be with her in a minute.  I replaced the phone and went back to my customer.  I apologized and told him in passing that she was having a small problem which should be resolved very soon.  He then asked me my name and then hers.  What followed next was utterly amazing!
He told me to listen and I could see in his eyes that he had something that he wanted to tell me.  His eyes were gleaming and crystal clear and oh that smile!  He said a prayer that my daughter and I would be resolved of the small problem and that tomorrow will be the start of a new and enlightening day and that all will be taken care of in its own way and the pressures of time will be a thing of the past for He will be watching and His Son will be our guide!  Blessings to you dear Gina and Cari for you will encased with abiding love!
I did not know what to say but thank you.  He thanked me for his food and left, but he had forgotten one item.  He only left like seconds before and headed to our produce area.  I mean it was just SECONDS.  I picked up the item and walked around the corner to catch him.    He was gone!!!!!!!!  Just like that.  I know I did not miss him because the produce department is next to us and the aisle leading to the rest of the store is in my sight!
I truly believe that this man was sent to me as an “angel” to give me reassurance that all be ok in time and to trust in Him.
I will never forget that kind face and gentle voice.

Has anyone here ever experienced such an act?
I never truly believed in “angels”, but after yesterday that has all changed! There are “angels” and they do appear when there is need to.
Blessings every one.

what a truly wonderful experience - he sounds perfectly angelic and I'm sure you will remember this moment for the rest of your life….
When my son was younger and unwell I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder and a sense of warmth and love - maybe this was an angel too…

Hi Gina!

Wonderful story! LOL, it didn't ramble at all! :-D
I have had many such experiences, but they hardly ever speak…they just watch =)

Like…I used to get off work at 2am, NYC, Times Square…and then I had a 2 hour train ride home. There were always a group of sanitation workers taking the train with me…they'd all come in chitchatting about the day and sit down together in a group and continue chatting…except for One older gentleman…who would never be chatting with them, almost like they didn't even know he was there. He would sit Apart from them…somewhere between them and me and just sit and watch me (not glare, lol, but watch me every few minutes)…

I thought it was really cute that he'd be watching over me. I decided to do an experiment to see if he really was (LOL)…I would get on a different train car from the group…or after they'd sit down, I'd switch cars…and sure enough….this older gentleman would also switch cars and just quietly sit, glance at me, smile and just watch to see I'd get home safely. :-D

I wish he would've spoken to me :-D I could've taken the initiative and said something to him, and if he was an angel and not really there, I wouldn't have looked too crazy because, after all, this is NY and there's lots of nuts talking to themselves, LOL :-D

Comfort in all places and spaces,
~Ariela

Ariela,
After reading your reply, I believe that this gentleman was seeing you home safe.  Of all places, NY is most eclectic.  To put it mildly of course.  Guidance comes in all forms and most of the time, it is our faith that helps us see the path through “angels”.

Hi Gina,

Yes, he was =)
And he was such a comforting presence…even without saying a word.

How did it go with your daughters? Was there a new beginning?

Ohhhh….I've also had animal companions (cats) escort me home too :-D There was a little black-and-white cat that would sit at the train station and walk with me a few blocks home…the first time it happened, he (the cat) didn't (or so I thought) know where I lived, but it stopped right outside my door and sat while I opened the door, and I was talking to the cat (LOL :-D) about how 'okay, I'm home now, Thank You for the company, you can go now.' and he'd wait till I opened the door, he'd step into the lobby first as if sensing if all was okay, then look at me (with a kitty smile of course LOL) and walk on his merry way :-D

So yes indeed, Guidance and Companions comes in many forms.
And I do soooo love their Presences =)

Oh gina, that is a thrilling report !! Thank you tons for sharing !!!

I subscribed a few years ago to a whole series of books, actually a couple of series of books, from the Guideposts people, books FULL of exactly those kinds of stories. Yours totally fits the pattern, down to the details. I eat them up, as you can imagine !!

And I've heard a few first-hand reports like this one from you, from people I know.

Oh, it's so wonderful, so reassuring. Thank you thank you, and may you accept ALL the potential blessings of this incident !!

One detail: had you told him your names? I'm betting not !!!

May this kind of thing happen more often for more and more of us !!!!! So be it !!!!!

Your choice of the Musing Board was perfectly fine, gina, and I'm going to move this thread to “Shared Experiences” Board, minor detail, no one will even notice, haha, because I believe others here have similar experiences. I know Will has shared some of his in another group awhile back.

Blessings, OM Bastet

OM,
Thank you for stopping by.  Yes it was quite exhilirating to say the least.  Yes, he did ask for Cari's name but I had my nametag on, but still it was quite amazing.

Thanks Gina for your story , I wrote this story awhile back , and saw yours , and wanted to share mine.

THE WEATHERED MAN

As each day passes we never know what will unfold before our very eyes. When I walked

back to work after my lunch break, I didn't tread the same path this particular afternoon.

I meandered to the next door business Petro Canada to get some bottled water.  When I

was going to enter the store a man held the door open for me? An Aboriginal man with

a weathered, and hardship written on his face. I beamed at him with my radiant

smile, and thanked him kindly. He didn't say anything back, although I saw some

warmth in his eyes. When I entered the store there was great commotion the two men

that wore the red Petro Canada shirts with pride dashed out of the store leaving me

aside

A robber he was as they were quickly  put a label and blame on his name.

As I paid for my water, and walked back. I thought of this man with the weathered hard

Face. I couldn't put blame on this man, as he was only doing what he new was best,

maybe he was hungry, maybe this was for his family. I don't know as I don't know the

story of this man .The weathered man. When the men dressed in shirts of pride caught up

with him he didn't put up a fight. He gave what he took back. Was it the smile upon my

face that gave him some hope, and a better space that day?

I got back to work, and started to shake heavily thank goodness I am alive.

Thank goodness the man with the weathered tough hard skin lived another day.

As I know there is a story behind each and every action that people choose to make.

That day I choose to give some kindness away in return he stopped in his path, and

Returned the kindness.

My grandfather taught me about kindness at an early age. He said no matter what

Happens Keep that twinkle in your eye my little lamb.

Thank you for stopping by and what a wonderful story.  I now believe that there are those that stand by us and render their help when and if we need it…though they may guide us along subitly.   Thank you so much

Will,
Thank you for stopping by.  Your words are spoken so true.  I believe that if you make a choice that is just not right, someone or something is there to guide you back.  It is now refreshing to know that someone is watching over.   Never believed in that before, now I do.  The funny thing is when I took a look at my younger daughter's profile, she had one line there that made me smile….”I feel Smart”.  That wasn't the case a couple of days ago.  How incredibly wonderful to hear her say that.  His prayer is working slowly for her.
Blessings and have a great day
