Hello!
I am new at GAIA. Here is defined and described so much different aspects of mind, I cant to decide which one is wider. I will try to give biological aspect of observed point. Namely, different levels of consciousness and unconsciousness are tied to different parts of nervous system. Its function, energy, i.e. information's flow depend on complex biochemical and electrochemical reactions (hormones, neurotransmitters, ions, biological pumps, electric, magnetic fields etc.). If we put brain, as highest achievement of evolution, aside, there are different parts of nervous system, like spin, together with parasympathic and sympathic nervous system, which manage with organic level of organisms (inner organs). That part of nervous system is functioning at basic, unconscious, instinctive level. This part is very important in traditional medicines, like Chinese (chi flows) and Indian (chakras).
Meanwhile, brain, as center of consciousnes, has multi-role: its inner parts as little (tree of life) and middle brain are partiay tied to ruling and sensations on organic level, giving connection betveen autonomic parts of nervous system and brain cortex. It has important role in control of hormones (hypophisis) and senses of time and space (thalamical and hypothalamical regions) by controling of circadian rhytms. Some assert that thalamus is 6th chakra. This statement is connected only to individual point of view, while magnetic and electric fields could participate in forming of fields of greater potentials in space and time, as 4 dimensions. From that point of view Teilhard de Chardin defined mindsphere as noosphere.
Not only humans has ability to think and have mind, its characteristic of animals, as all we know, even plants. Meanwhile, plants' way of thinking, flowing of informations is mostley biochemicaly, based on phytohormones, secondary methabolits etc. Elecrtomagnetical field of plants is formed by diffrent qualities, opposite to animals, while field of individual plant is wider to animal field (presented as aura).
Question is, where s border between individual and general mind, or does it actually exist?

Leah, if your reply is for me, I do thank you. However, I no longer read books on such matters as information comes to me unasked and spontaneously - it has done for years and is quite amazing although I am getting used to it. My writings explain this.
I am not boasting; I am merely stating a fact. :-)
()

I love your curiosty, and as you can see your mind has already had a rippling effect to other minds...

This brings to mind an enlightening and thought-provoking book I read last year over the mind and the phenomemon of conciousness.
It is called "The Mysterious Flame" by Colin McGinn.

It's online if you do a Google book search :)

Grace & Peace

Physicists, mostly, are realistic reductionist Copernicist mathematicists.

Realism is the prejudice that there is a universe out there, distinct from, but in communication with the physicist(1), and that understanding of this universe ought to be obtained by careful observation(2).

Reductionism is the prejudice that in order to understand complicated thingsit helps to understand its simpler parts(3).

Copernicism is the prejudice that the universe doesn’t care about the physicist’s tastes and preferences(4): the universe will keep going its own way as physicists fall for fads and fashions. In short, you are neither the center, nor at the center, of the universe.

Mathematicism is the prejudice that we can describe and, with luck, predict phenomena using the rules of the mathematical game(5); and that the universe deigns to conform to the rules of human mathematics(6).

All these prejudices may be wrong(7), but I will stick to them until they are clearly wrong.

By: Prof. Dr. R.H.P. Kleiss - 12-04-2006

Footnotes at text:

1: Denying this is solipsism: the solipsist cannot be proven wrong by logical argument, but is, perhaps for that very reason, not a nice person to be with.

2: Denying this disqualifies one from doing physics (but not from doing mathematics); in extreme forms it can lead to revelationism and religious fundamentalism.

3: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ‘holism’, ‘complexity’, or ‘self-organization’. In the language we are using here, holims just states that the simplest part of a thing may happen to be the thing itself; complexity just states that simple things obeying simple rules may actually result in something pretty complicated-looking; and self-organization just states that the complicatedlooking result may actually be pretty robust. The Pseudo-Scientific New Ager will sit back and be impressed by the complicated-looking result; the scientist will be impressed by the simplicity of the parts and rules. The science of complexity is not the antithesis of reductionism, but an extreme case of it.

4: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ’observer effect’,’collapse of the wavefunction’, or ’the measurement problem’. Observer effect just states that the physicist, after all, is unavoidably part of the universe, and a separation between self and the universe is an idealization; collapse of the wavefunction just states that as the status of the self changes because of information gained
from the universe, it should not come as a surprise that the status of the universe also changes; the measurement problem just states that at present it is not yet completely clear how these status changes are to be explained reductionistically.

5: After centuries of brainwashing by physics’ successes, it is extremely hard for us even to conceive of any other way of doing it.

6: An undeserved but very fortunate condescension! This behaviour cannot be proven, but so far we have been succesful. On the other hand, it may mean that our mathematics has hit upon some fundamental actual properties of the world—in that case, an alien thechnology-based civilization on a distant planet would probably do mathematics the same way.

7: An open mind is a good thing, but a prejudice such as ‘do not jump out of this high window, because gravity always works’ sees you safely through the day.

For what it may be worth:

Wisdom.

Wisdom is like the ocean. The ocean is fed by streams and rivers from the land, by springs from beneath and by rain from above ...... and it is the powerhouse of the Earth.

                                                                                                                          from The Milk Is White.

I have been pondering this lately, and other things I will touch on breifly. It all started when I was talking with my former SOM teacher Denise. She asked, sort of like the question if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, will it make a sound? She asked, sort of like the conflict in the Middle East...what does it mean to you? It means different things according to different people, if you were a video camera watching from space it would look like a bunch of people running at each other, shooting in each others direction. That would be how is would look objectively. People assign or detach meaning to things, people, races, companies, ect...what does an 'old person' mean to you, or a baby, or an inter-racial couple? While one person would see an old person, or a baby as treasures, another would see them as nuisances, that made messes and could not care for themselves. People assign meanings to groups, castes, orders of people: for instance what do police officers mean to you? A person who had a police run over her grandma, and then subsequently had DUI's, and arrests and 'bad' encounters with the police would hate them, ALL of them. Would assign them a non'human identity like, "pigs" or "robots" or "thugs" anything to avoid seeing them in human light. Even when having a 'non'negative experience, being pulled over for tail lights being out or something like that, the person would still be angry. I asked a person I know, is it so far out of the realm of possibility that this officer could be geniunely concerned about a fellow human and trying to help? Could it never happen? This is a judgemental point of veiw that is all inclusive. This is how people can act without seeing the consequences. Because they emotionally detach themselves, mainly their heart chakra by denying that people are people.* "A person is a person no matter how small "* Horton hears a Who (Dr. Suess)

Also this, it was really an epiphany...I was thinking about circles. In my Healing Touch class we all sat in a circle, and stayed there for long periods of time. If someone had to leave the circle it was with respect, and they would ask. Not like asking to use the restroom because we had regular breaks. But it was a peaceful and reverent feeling. When I thought about this yesterday, I was thinking we all have these energy fields that sort of radiate out from our bodies and encounter other peoples energy. Have you ever walked by someone and had a bad feeling, or when they walked by it was like a blast of cold air? I was thinking about group interactions. Like, a person is standing outside of a circle of people and then he decides to enter the circle to be social, suddenly everyone is looking at the person like "who are you" and then another person in the group will respond by touching the person entering the circle. As if to join their energy fields together!! Or else, maybe not and the 'intruder' will eventually leave because of the weird feelings and end up feeling like an outcast. I really have never put this all together like that, but lately I have been thinking about things more "energetically" and "chakra" related." So when people talk to me, I am thinking...hmmm I wonder what that means in the light of all this new knowledge I have!! Just thought I would share.

Have a great weekend!

Hopefully these short snippets will give some ideas :-)

"In short, the great maya, illusion, is that the world we
know is only a thought, an idea—it is a picture with many
objects but, nevertheless, a picture—nothing more, nothing
less. No matter what you do, it is all within your mind—even
when external to your body, it's still within your mind." read more..

And this is taken from my another post today:

"..the conciousness experiences (observes) itself by its own projection (mind) but the mind does not recognise that it is projected into conciousness."

"Our existence is based on dynamic and continuous
flow of energy that is focused and organized in a manner that
keeps our structure "stable" over time. Otherwise, our physical
form would not exist from one moment to another and we
would be dissolved around the place." read more...

/peter

once you can clearly depict the fractal symmetry
for charge that creates implosive suction

then you can know mind

www.soulinvitation.com/braincoherence

bill tiller clearly measured the physics:
attention compresses charge
(book:conscious acts of creation)

but had no clue how or why..
onset of biologic charge fractality...
--this explains immoto (who sadly knows no science)
--once you understand how dna braids to charge implode..
then you can know soul
www.soulinvitation.com/dnamanifesto

      Hello Jax,
I think this is a challenging pod - a good choice.
I have found that when one has identified "Mind" & "Soul" life, as well as the understanding of life, is so much easier. apart from what I have said at the end of these messages here is something else of possible interest to you and others. CLICK

Now I must go, my friend, as someone is trying to contact me on the zchat and I have lost her as I have never used it before!
See you later,
Ian.
()

      Hello Everyone here!
The other important question is, "What does one mean when one uses the word 'mind'? For instance, the Buddha is quoted here but what was the Sankrit word he used? Is its correct translation 'mind'? What did he 'see' that he called 'mind'?

I have written a lot, scattered here and there, about the 'mind' and the soul, and there relationship but it is too scattered to collect here in its entirety. However, a few bits have been collected and can be accessed here - Click.

Anyone sufficiently interested in exploring what I have seen in this regard should got to my book and "Search" for text on the subject/s. www.themilkiswhite.com . There is very little, if any, that is not brief and succinct so the seeker will not have to read pages and pages. There is also reference to these in my blog.
Love to all,
Ian.
()

      Friends,

This is some amazing new information about to spread like a wave around the world. The Anastasia books have swept Russia and have just been translated into English.

Read the excerpt below and if you are interested in ordering books you can do so directly from the publisher. The link is at www.ringingcedars.com

Please use the keyword 'GARDEN' when ordering. You just need to put the word 'GARDEN' into the 'promotional code' area in the order page.

Blessings to all of you,

Chris Iverson

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anastasia stated:

“Every seed you plant contains within itself an enormous amount of information about the Universe. Nothing made by human hands can compare with this information either in size or accuracy. Through the help of these data the seed knows the exact time, down to the millisecond, when it is to come alive, grow – what juices it is to take from the Earth, how to make use of the rays of the celestial bodies – the Sun, Moon and stars, what it is to grow into, what fruit to bring forth.

These fruits are designed to sustain Man’s life. More powerfully and effectively than any manufactured drugs of the present or future, these fruits are capable of counteracting and withstanding any disease of the human body. But to this end the seed must know about the human condition. So that during the maturation process it can satiate its fruit with the right correlation of substances to heal a specific individual of his disease, if indeed he has it or is prone to it.

“In order for the seed of a cucumber, tomato or any other plant grown in one’s plot to have such information, the following steps are necessary:

“Before planting, put into your mouth one or more little seeds, hold them in your mouth, under the tongue, for at least nine minutes.

“Then place the seed between the palms of your hands and hold it there for about thirty seconds. During this time it is important that you be standing barefoot on the spot of earth where you will later be planting it.

“Open your hands, and carefully raise the seed which you are holding to your mouth. Then blow on it lightly, warming it with your breath, and the wee little seed will know everything that is within you.

“Then you need to hold it with your hands open another thirty seconds, presenting the seed to the celestial bodies. And the seed will determine the moment of its awakening. The planets will all help it! And will give the sprouts the light they need to produce fruit especially for you.

“After that you may plant the seed in the ground. In no case should you water it right off, so as not to wash away the saliva which is now covering it, along with other information about you that the seed will take in. It can be watered three days after planting.

“The planting must be done on days appropriate to each vegetable (people already know this, from the lunar calendar). In the absence of watering, a premature planting is not as harmful as an overdue planting.

“It is not a good idea to pull up all the weeds growing in the vicinity of the sprouts. At least one of each kind should be left in place. The weeds can be cut back …”

According to Anastasia, the seed is thus able to take in information about the person who plants it, and then during the cultivation of its fruit it will pick up from the Universe and the Earth the optimum blend of energies needed for a given Man. The weeds should not be disposed of completely, as they have their own appointed function. Some weeds serve to protect the plant from disease while others give supplemental information. During the cultivation time it is vital to communicate with the plant – at least once during its growth period. And it is desirable to approach it and touch it during a full moon.

Anastasia maintains that the fruit cultivated from the seed in this manner, and consumed by the individual who cultivated it, is capable not only of curing him of any diseases of the flesh whatsoever but also of significantly retarding the aging process, rescuing him from harmful habits, tremendously increasing his mental abilities and giving him a sense of inner peace. The fruit will have the most effective influence when consumed no later than three days after harvesting.

The above-mentioned steps should be taken with a variety of plant species in the garden-plot.

It is not necessary to plant a whole row of cucumbers, tomatoes etc., in this manner; just a few plants each is enough.

The fruit of plants grown like this will be distinguished from other plants of the same species not only in taste. If analysed, it will be seen that they are also distinct in terms of the substances they contain.

When planting the seedlings, it is important to soften the dirt in the excavated hole with one’s fingers and bare toes, and spit into the hole. Responding to my question, “Why the feet?”, Anastasia explained that through perspiration from one’s feet come substances containing information about bodily diseases. This information is taken in by the seedlings. They transmit it to the fruit, which will thus be enabled to counteract diseases. Anastasia recommended walking around the plot barefoot from time to time...

       what if.

(and this is a pure metaphor, it is meant to visualize our minds in a way that understandable)

each of our minds is its own planet. Gravitating around one another. And ideas, thoughts, feelings, emotions are moons. And those moons can travel and replicate themselves (the meme idea).

certain ideas and culture, ones that have people that think the same. people that think about the same thing. Those groups could be galaxies.

and all of our planets, all of our galaxies, are part of humanities universe.

i don;t know. Just an idea.
