I've been drinking for 22-years. I started when I was 19, exactly on my birthday, because that was the legal age back then. I was always the party animal in college, I just never outgrew that title. I've been to “treatment” several times. I tried the AA thing, but only seemed to get more depressed. As alcohol began to due damage to my health, and I knew conventional “wisdom” didn't work, I started to read a book by Chris Prentis, the father of an alcoholic and heroin addict, who was relentless in helping his son get healthy after all conventional methods failed. The holistic approach seemed to make so much more sense to me. Further research brought me to the 101 program (thank you Genita)…… I was already seeing a Naturopath/Health Minister in Memphis, and he agreed to integrate the 101 program into his plan for me. |

Hey, my name’s Neil. First off, I want to thank Miss Genita for writing her book! I’ve just begun and I think this is going to be great. Hope, something I haven’t had in a while when it comes to my 30 year drinking career. Funny the way I found out about it. I was on YouTube looking for new ideas as to what might help me to get sober, pardon the “get sober”, I still have a lot of AAism’s in my head. Well I kept coming across AA videos and anti-AA videos and the more I drank that day the less I cared and I ended up just fighting with AA’ers on YouTube. Let me say that I don’t have a problem with AA itself, but some of the stuff I was seeing was really making me mad. So I come across this nice looking woman who has her ideas about “alcoholism” so I figure well let’s check her out. I looked at the video of her in her office (I guess it was her office), and I’m like Hmm, she’s hot. Let me send her a message and tell her I think she’s hot! Well I paused on that idea for a moment to see what she actually had to say. I sent her a message telling her what my initial intentions were, but then I went on to question her sincerity, and whether or not she really cared or was just trying to make money off of people. I don’t think I did it in a disrespectful way though, she seemed sincere, but I’ve been there done that. She replied to my message the next day, and I read it in a hungover fog (20- 6% alcohol beers and 8 narcotic painkillers), fog is putting it mildly I was shaking like a leaf (I didn’t eat at all that whole day) I felt like I was about to explode, would be more accurate. Without going into details, she convinced me of her sincerity. I just started reading the book today, and this is something that I think will work. I’ll keep you guys posted and I appreciate those of you who have posted previously with success stories. Hope to hear from some of you! |
