HI Everett,
My name is Mish and I am Yoga Teacher/Fitness professional. I've been in the business a long time but yet I still feel young. Fitness has been my passion since I was a teenager. It was my love of fitness that led me to the path of yoga. Yoga has completely transformed my life. It was through this wonderful transformation that I knew I had to share my experience and knowledge to reach as many people as physically possible.

What I love most about my job is working with Seniors. They are reluctant to try new experiences when it comes to physical activity. When I hear a student say they feel good and start to recognize the changes within their body, I can't help but feel confident in the message I am trying to deliver. I know Yoga works. There is evidence all around us that supports these claims. Once I know a student has experienced the physical, I can work on the transformation of mind. I like to consider them moths in their cocoons. They know what to do instinctively, I just help them along. It's very rewarding.
I also love to give myself and my time to worthy causes, charities, and fund raisers. I especially enjoy working with persons who most need direction, which can apply to many situations. My Seva (giving of yourself without any rewards) work completes me as a person and connects me to all. I learn to appreciate life more and reamin humble at all times.

Now as far as what I don't like, well, the travel gets to me sometimes. I spend many hours traveling from one location to the next. But of course as soon as I walk in the door and see my students smile, I am at one with all.
This is a big bummer. Not feeling well and not being able to call in sick. Because I do work many hours my body does feel the stress. I am physically and emotionally exhausted sometimes. I have to rest so I can recharge myself. I feel like I am a faucet and as soon as I step on stage, in front of a class, or with a private, the faucet has been turned on full. My passion pours out of me at a steady stream. I am drained after a session or class. But I love the way I feel and the way my hair stands on my skin. I'm drained but exhilarated.

OK, think I hit my answers well.
Peace & Freedom all!
Mish

Well Everett I'll bite, my name is Scott, I work for the Navy as a Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Director. I am a Department Head so I don't always get that one on one work I enjoy with people, but I love providing ways to remain fit, control stress and to develop lifetime activities that they can carry with them long after the service with the military. I find it kind of a contradiction that I work with the military, given that I am a pacifist for the most part, but I wanted to make a difference with some of the people that need it the most.

I joined zaads for many reasons, some personal, some professional, and some reasons that I can't really find words to explain. I am also hoping to learn to bring a more integral approuch to fitness and through that path possibly bring more peace to this world.

I want to know what your pet peeves are. What annoys you about working in your field? Whether you have one or two pet peeves, or a whole list of things that bother you, now is the time to spit it out. Get it off your chest. Catharsis is good! These types of discussions are usually funny, which is why I don't see it as a negative conversation. However, just in case, I would also like to know what single aspect you enjoy most about your job.

I'll start...

Pet Peeves:
#1 Commuting
The reason I got into the business of Search Marketing in the first place was so I could work from home. I hate traffic and I hate the idea of polluting the environment more than necessary. But for now I still have to commute 45-minutes each way.

#2 Content Management Systems
A CMS is to search marketing as Microsoft Word is to graphic design. Ever try to make business cards and a logo in MS Word? It can be done, but it's going to give the guy at Kinko's the shivers. The more user friendly an application is, the less control it can provide to an expert. A CMS on large websites that have frequent product updates is fine. But if you have fewer than 100 pages, or don't update your content on a daily or weekly basis, there is no need for a content management system, despite what the person selling it to you says.

THE BEST THING is that I have been able to combine my two greatest loves: Search Engine Optimization (yes, despite the two pet peeves above I LOVE what I do) and Health & Fitness.

Thank you Mish. I am happy to have found Gaiam as well. Prior to working with them, my focus was 100% strength training. The gym and iron plates were my only "health" activity. Now I have incorporated yoga and Pilates into my routine because they teach these classes in the office a few times per week. This has helped me tremendously! I had no idea how inflexible and "tight" my body was. My range of motion has improved and my back pain has gone away. I also find that I can concentrate for longer periods of time and am in a better mood because I have a break from the stresses of life during these classes.

I am happy Gaiam was able to help you. It is a noble cause that you have embarked on, and people like you and others at Camp Comfort are the real heroes of today.

Regards,

Everett

PS:
GAIAM has a profile on Zaads. You can view it and join their network by clicking here.

I am a Yoga Teacher working in the Northern suburbs of Long Island New York.
When I read your entry it inspired me to add a nice story about Gaiam.
I work for a foundation named Bob Sweeney's "Camp Comfort"
http://www.campcomfortsite.com/news.cfm
This foundation runs a Camp eaxh summer for Children and Adults who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one (Parent/Spouse) to cancer, or accident........ It brings together families who are going through similar circumstances to help the grieving process.
This year we decided a nice addition to the program would be Yoga. We wrote several fitness and yoga companies asking for any donations they could offer. Gaiam was the one and only company that responded and consequently provided Yoga mats for our adult attendees. We were so thankful.
The addition of Yoga to this program was tremendous in helping those who are in deep pain. It also brought yoga awareness to individuals who might never have attended Yoga instruction, bringing yoga awareness and the benefits pertaining to any life situation.
This was accepted with overwhelming response by all who attended the camp this year. This will be added as a necessary addition to the camp for years to come.
Thank you Gaiam for your generosity. You have helped many in a time of sorrow. Thank you for helping us help others. This is one more example of what a wonderful company Gaiam is.
Namaste!
Mish

Please share with the rest of us how you are involved in the health, healthcare of fitness industry, and what you hope to achieve by joining this pod / group. It will allow everyone to know who to ask if they have a specific question or need, but mostly will just serve as a good point for introductions.

I'll get things started:

My name is Everett Sizemore. I am Director of Search Marketing at First Page Fitness, LLC (An internet marketing company for the health and fitness industry) and am also the Internet Search Analyst for Gaiam, Inc. Gaiam is a world leader in products and services for lifestyles of health and sustainability (LOHAS) and are probably most known for their award-winning yoga, Pilates and Tae Bo DVDs staring talented trainers like Rodney Yee and Billy Blanks.

I joined Zaadz for many reasons. First, I am a health and fitness fanatic myself, although I am mostly interested in strength training. Second, as a way to network with other professionals in hopes of trading knowledge and services. Third, as a way to keep my finger on the pulse of the LOHAS community to ensure that I am doing the best job I can for Gaiam, Inc.

I look forward to sharing experiences and knowledge with each of you.

Regards,

Everett Sizemore
