google wave - live collaborative editing

joshua said Jul 5, 10:13 AM:

has anyone else seen the epic features of the upcoming google chrome?  these capabilities are going to change the way complex ideas - and information and discussions of all kinds - evolve in the blogosphere.  it's like 3 dimensional messaging!

i think it would be well worth investigating the possibility of incorporating some of the google wave features into gaia discussions/blogs.

Joshua, thanks for calling attention to this. The video is an hour and a half, and I will watch it in installments.

I am linking your post in the Google Chrome Browser Users' Group here on Gaia, and we'd welcome your participation there in keeping us up to date on this project as you follow it!!

Blessings, OM Bastet

I got hooked! Now I gotta have breakfast! Wow is that ever fascinating. I don't understand all the techy jargon, but I get that this is gonna feel like running where we are walking now, in our various Internet activities!! (I still await computers we can talk to, and good voice-to-text capability. Those seem to me basics long overdue.)

Thanks for helping us be among “the first to know.”

And I get that this would be really pretty simple for Gaia to start incorporating!

Blessings, OM Bastet

i'm glad to see someone is excited as i am about these features.  i goofed though and mixed the terms of google products.  the title is right:  it's google 'wave' - not google 'chrome' like i erroneously typed in the link; google 'chrome' is simultaneously their new internet browser as well as their pending open source operating system designed for netbooks and is in fact a completely separate animal.  would you be so kind as to correct my confusing misnomer OM? thanks!

Sorry, joshua, I don't have moderator capabilities in this group. ~Matthew can do that for you.

but now I am confused, especially by this sentence

google 'chrome' is simultaneously their new internet browser as well as their pending open source operating system designed for netbooks and is in fact a completely separate animal.

I must admit I didn't pay much attention in the video to what “chrome” might become. Perhaps you can clarify your sentence?

And I hope you take the hint and join the Chrome Group here!!

kk, i jumped into the 'Chrome Group', i suppose i'll copy the meat of this post over there in a new thread.

it is a bit confusing.  the advertised evolution of google's chrome browser effectively means google is going to continue to add features to it until its all a 'netbook' needs to boot (then do you know what they're going to do tomorrow pinky?  try to take over the world! muahahaha!); no windows or osx required.  my understanding is that it will be an open source - free - operating system.  a very good thing for the price of netbooks.

so there's the existing google chrome browser, the forthcoming google chrome OS, and the separate animal is the also forthcoming live collaborative editing program - google 'wave'; the video link to which i posted earlier i must confess, i also have not watched in its entirety (as you point out, it is long, and i got excited by what i saw in the first 30 minutes & so decided to post it :D)

at least that's all my understanding, i haven't taken the time to soak it all in; i'm only skimming so please correct me if you learn anything to the contrary.
