I was just wondering if it would help newbies if there could be something like a video on the homepage giving an introduction about the community and what are the things one could start with and how. Even so that people who just come across the site can see what the site is about.

That's a great idea, Desafinada. Matthew created some beautiful webcasts on the FAQ pages, but one one the home page would be great for those who just get here. I'll put it on the roster. :)
