I would love to be able to spend some time in Hawaii. I have been there 9 times, only to pass through Customs on my way somewhere, though! It is beautiful and the temperature seems perfect. I know it's expensive to live there, but a week would be nice!

I remember several years ago, saying "Hawaii, who would want to go to Hawaii, it's so far away". Of course at the time, I think I was suffering from shock of having lived in practical isolation in Saudi Arabia for two years.
Now, I can't get enough of Hawaii. My ecotour company - Yellow Bear Journeys is planning ecotours there in Jan, Feb 2009. My wife and I can't wait to return. And, if we have to postpone that trip until later, when the water's warmer, it will be a burden that we'll joyously endure :)

The wildest, most beautiful, desolate place on earth!

I was stationed in Naples for two years in the 1970s. It was such a wonderful change from anything I had ever experienced before!

History is still alive and right there for you to touch in Italy. Naples was not exactly the cleanest place I have ever been, but it was not far from Rome which is modern and at the same time, unbelievably ancient. Florence was more quiet than Rome and much more artsy. It is still an ancient city and wonderful to visit.

I recommend trying everything, the food, the customs. Visit the monuments, archaeological sites like Herculaneum and Pompeii, Vesuvius, museums, any and everything. It is always wonderful to immerse yourself in something that is new to you.

I've been to Italy and I recommend Florence above all and if you like ancient history, you
HAVE to see and walk Pompeii; its an awesome experience because its so well preserved
and you'll be amazed by the murals/mosaics in the homes and just how well people lived!
