The Tribe of Yes: Tactics, Strategies, and Life Hacks

The Tribe of Yes is that global clan that identifies its members by the straightforward, kind look in their eyes, by their willingness to smile and listen, their addiction to the realm of possibility, their belief in the power of the knowledge that All Is Well.

This pod is to honor the ways that we’ve found to be in The World, and to share our nuggets of practicalities with one another.

This first discussion is about what particular tactic, strategy, and/or life hack you are currently grooving to.

Mine is:

Making Love … also known by the code word: cookies (to keep the internet search trolls at bay :)… As in baking cookies, cookies are yummy, cookies for all, nobody puts cookies in the corner, cookies: breakfast of champions!

Making love is one of the most highly underrated life strategies. It is connection, communing, and fabulous sweaty sport. It is stress management, spiritual attunement, and a great way to goof off. It is about possibility, boundary, infinity. It is about love, power, generosity of spirit and heart. It is about athleticism, surrender, and stillness through movement. It is one of Life/God/Spirit’s greatest gifts and funniest jokes.

It is the space where human beings can take wing and fly.

It explains it all.

Oh, such gratefulness for the sweet, luscious, yummy cookies …

Thanks for the invite to join kate.

I am a life hack…   but I also have a few particular bio-programs that other may find precious.

Drink you meals instead of skipping them. My favorites include organic chocolate milk or protein juice from odwalla or naked juices. Also I drink my vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidents. i call it liquid yoga.

When things are tough… walk in the sun. notice that life energy is beaming to our planet without any effort from us.

looking forward to reading Lila strategies from other actors.

To get through my week I do ashtanga yoga.

Sweaty and hot like sex–but not in any orgasmic way. Just in that, “Wow, I'm breathing and moving and feeling my body” way. Very good.

I've gotten to know myself better and found some great people out there through blogs–which  helped me process and get through my first couple years as a mom.

I'm short on attention and time but I'm excited to be here.

Though “baking cookies” is wonderful (certainly love cookies at every opportunity), my life strategy for living my best life is exercise in general… yoga, running, cycling, swimming, hiking, belly dancing.  Juicing that heart rate, sweating, endorphins kicking, knowing you're doing something so good for you… exercise.

I think I get it.  So if I say “I wolfed down some cookies” that would be like a quickie.  And if I said “I savored some cookies” that would be like Tantra?  But what do I say when I want to post about actually eating cookies - that could happen.   Like, “These cookies are F' ing good.”

Everynow and then, a small seed in me suddenly germinates… sometimes I remember the sower, feel joy, and wonder what kind of flower I’ll get to see… Last night, a seed germinated that fit very well with Cookies. At least, from my silly and abstract position, they seem to fit… heh.

Sometimes, it feels as though the world inside me goes through a reformation. There’s usually a big party and lots of food fights. When the reformation happens, it’s as though spring comes and all the seeds germinate at once- the trees bud and life resumes. When I think like this, I remember planting bulbs in the fall- reaching through the soil into the future- my hands become flowers of the spring. A transformation. Even if I died today, I think, I will bloom come spring and fill the air with my scent… What is this reaching through time, I wonder. Who I am is little of what I was ten years ago- much less thirty… did I plant myself? Am I all those who made me and whom I help to seed?

When we used to get together to bake snickerdoodles- springtime all over again. An act of sowing in more than one sense! What occurred to me the other day- the seedling germinating even as I write: when I Love- I feel it now. I feel these microcosmic wings reaching out from my heart- they reach out as sunlight reaches for the moon… and planting its kiss there. Making cookies, I feel our hearts winking, imagining multi-couloured hillsides, faceted hands and wings reaching into tomorrow.

Well, when I'm not baking cookies…

My life hack: Immersing myself in creative service. I do a lot of little things to keep myself optimized, but the underlying “flow” comes as I consciously honor my Bodhisattvic commitment by using my greatest strengths in the greatest service to the world.

Then, uh, you know…scarf, munch and savor some more cookies. :)

Well, I'm just finally getting into a life hack state of mind again after a few years of thinking mostly about other people's lives. Right now it's all about mindfulness. Mostly I pay attention to all the things I'm getting wrong, but in the past few days some light's shining through and showing me a lot of things I'm getting right.

I spend a lot of time gardening, writing, cooking, and taking care of my kids. I'm attempting to do all of those things in a more conscious, awake manner, to let go of the auto-pilot that runs so much of my life. This is making the whole “cookies” thing a lot more tasty.

My life hack is honesty, whether blatant, easy, tough, refreshing or matter-of-fact. DIshonesty is like poison, to your own body and mind and to others.

Mmmm…cookies.  My life has been one of service, especially to my family and friends, in that I have always attempted to hack away at their lives.  One learns (slowly in my case) that to truly hack someone's life, we must do one thing above all else…listen.  Listening holds the space in way that allows the knot of suffering to unravel and makes the person more receptive to….cookies!  Oops, I meant more receptive to the offering of hacks.  Lost my place there for a moment…every 15 minutes I keep picturing warm, moist chocolate chip cookies melting in my mouth….Kate, how do you expect us to concentrate on life hacks when you offer up sensual cookie metaphors for life? lol

Haha yeah, getting it on rocks. ;)  That is one of the quickest ways to come into alignment with who you really are.  When people say, “I love you”. I often hear, “thank you for helping me back into alignment with who I really am”.

I am not sure what a “life hack” is, but I am feeling like it is a way to stay connected to our “whole self”, god self,  true self, soul…etc?

If this is the case, there are several things I have put into my life at different points to remind my little self that my big self is here, and that my intention from the start was to blend them for the most fun adventure ever on planet earth! Wooooo!! =)  I love it.  My life hack is knowing that I am non-physical energy streaming and pouring myself into this physical body for the sole purpose of having fun.  There is nothing else I have to do, and that is a knowing I carry with myself everywhere.

Feeling Good.  Appreciation. Laughing.  Enjoying. Basking. Making Fun Of Things.  Oh, and one of my most effective life hacks is throwing a ball to my dog. =)

I was reminded this week of a story that Joseph Campbell tells.. which is very much about the Yes!

“Once in India I thought I would like to meet a major guru or teacher face to face. So I went to see a celebrated teacher named Sri Krishna Menon, and the first thing he said to me was, “Do you have a question?”

The teacher in this tradition always answers questions. He doesn’t tell you anything you are not yet ready to hear. So I said, “Yes, I have a question. Since in Hindu thinking everything in the universe is a manifestation of divinity itself, how should we say no to anything in the world? How should we say no to brutality, to stupidity, to vulgarity, to thoughtlessness?”

And he answered, “For you and for me – the way is to say yes.”
We then had a wonderful talk on this theme of the affirmation of all things. And it confirmed me in the feeling I had had that who are we to judge? It seems to me that this is one of the great teachings, also, of Jesus. ”

Oh I went through a wonderful period of having my cookies last year and every batch was delightful!  Indulging the sweet tooth is a hellava good time!

My current Strategy is absolutely, honestly and freely giving abundant Love/Life/Light to others without feeling vulnerable.  It is to practice Namaste in each individual session with a client, or interaction with the grocery clerk, or mingling with the townspeople.  It is to un-guard myself as I go about my life, tasting all my emotions in their full flavor, sitting with my fear and looking at them directly with love in my eyes.

So could we say that chocolate chip cookies would be your standard everyday (or everyother day) kind of cookie? Pretty basic and good to have when all you need is a cookie?

But then, there is the white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie. Yes, it is the cookie we want when no other cookie will suffice. It is the cookie we only get on occasion, the cookie we must yearn for, the cookie that makes us do stupid stuff to get it.

Thats the cookie that can make us keep wanting cookies.

mmmm…….

I won't call it uncommon that I have often myself in the state of feeling like a meatball.
I have a little  Down's Syndrome brother (photo posted on profile thingy). I would practice teaching him variou things to say. One of which was.. “Ma ma, ma ma, ma ma, Meeeeatballllll !”   Im not sure why I chose that as something of value.

I now know it's because Im destined to become founder of the Silly Church.., more on that later.

Anyways..,
All he could manage was “ma ma, ma ma, ma ma.”
Maybe minus a ma ma.

I went off to Alaska & was gone a long while. It had been a while since I had seen him & many years since we'd practiced our silly grammar.
However..,
Upon seeing me.. for the first time in a long while.., he uncontrollably blurted out….

“Meatball ! ”

I cried.
This is a true story.
I consider my brother a medicine man. This has taken me a long time to realize & maybe a longer time to explain.., but actually it's simple.., and Im sure many people may even understand. Not that I want to hold some unaccesssable information.. as if Im special, whatnot. =)

As usual.., I got off the point.., or.. atleast the point took too long to make. What's too long.., if we make the time.. however.., who has the time..

K.. shoot.., back to the point..
Which is..

I didnt exactly realize how Pods work.., cause Im new to Zaadz.. and even advanced computer technology.

Sorry I havent written here.., perhaps some are happy about that.. and..
If there is a place for erratic subject unfoldment.., I think this tribe is the one. I dont know if I addressed the original subject at hand.., for that Im sorry.

Lemme say.. today Im saying yes.., by going to this little art class.. I did a little yoga.. I listened on the TV to somethin about Overcoming Death (Jesus)- I watched Down the Rabbit Hole last nite.., which.., well.., =).. For some I would recommend repeated episodes of old Charlie's Angels instead. Just gimme more time.. before I go sailing down that hole =).
I hope it's OK if I add this entry to my blog.?

K.. Im gonna sign off.. this writing tagent is getting seriously long.. and Im supposed to be starting a silly church.

Bye..,
-Nancy
