Ngöndro: Support & Discussion

Tharlam [no longer around] said Jun 23, 2009, 12:37 AM:

A thread for discussion of the Ngöndro; support for those who currently practice it and advice from those who have completed it.

I have many interesting Dharma talks on file which deal with the practice of Ngöndro.  I shall return to this thread shortly and share them.

In the meantime…

Blessings from an unusually sunny Scotland.

Thank you kindly for the links, Sherab.

I look forward to studying them a little closer tomorrow.

You say:

I would not recommend diving into the practice without discussing it and receiving some instruction from your Lama

And I agree.

Two years ago I made such an attempt to dive into the Ngondro without having recieved proper instruction.  It was of course a comedy of errors leading to no benefit whatsoever.

Now, refreshed, having in the middle of last year recieved transmission (for the Kagyu Ngondro which translates as The Chariot That Takes The Path Of The Realised)  I feel ready to begin anew, from scratch.

I have discussed the practice from many angles with my teacher and have studied recommended texts to that effect.  The essence of the outer Ngondro I feel have blossomed in me and I am confident the time is ripe.

Again - thanks for the links and so forth.

In returning to this thread perhaps you could share with me a little of how your practice is going; how you have found it in light of other daily activites and so forth.  A little perspective on how you manage it from day to day, in other words.

Blessings.
