Hi Jeremy! I don't know where you are on planning this trip, and have been contacted by another zaadzster eager to take this on. I invite you and everyone to the call this Saturday about this.

How Is Uganda? All Are Welcome

A brief and clearly understandable description of Uganda is here.
Many Zaadzster friends of mine have sent me messages asking about Uganda, where it is, what the situation is like; and I, therefore, take the opportunity to welcome you to our beloved country with a clear description:

A small beautiful East African Land-locked Country called the Pearl of Africa, with a population of just over 25 million people, Uganda is crossed by the equator and basically depends on agriculture. It is said that it is roughly the same in size to the state of Oregon in the USA.
It's blessed with beautiful sceneries, climate (equatorial), with only winter and summer conditions, fertile soils for agriculture, beautiful vegetation (almost green all year round) and beautiful and lovely people.
The Nile, the world's second longest river starts its journey from the world's second largest fresh water body, Lake Victoria at Jinja, Uganda's Administrative city.

It is bordered by Kenya to the East, Sudan to the North, DRC to the West and Tanzania and Rwanda to the south.

Under the current leadership of H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museven (president since Jan. 1986 through a coup de tat), Uganda has just undergone political transition to multi-partyism (has always been under movement system of governance for the last twenty years). The ruling party is now NRM-O (National Resistance Movement Organisation). Strong Opposition is imposed by FDC-Forum For Democratic Change (under Col (Rtd) Dr. Kiza Besigye, once a Minister, Chief of Logistics and Engineering in the Uganda People's Defence Forces, National Political Commissor under Museveni's government and once a personal doctor to the president during their bush war struggle from 1981-1985).
Other parties include D.P, UPC, CP, and many others (weak though they are)

Notwithstanding the last twenty years of brutal war in Norhern Uganda, which is showing signs of cessation, this government has made a very big difference from the past regimes under Dr. Apollo Milton Obote and Idi Amin Dada (the self-proclaimed "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular." What a tyrant and stubborn president!

However, the good governance (and a positive trend) by the current regime was observed from 1986 till fifteen years later. After that everything changed (though not the worst), the constitution was ammended for the president to extend his terms in office (to exceed the two term limits that were previously in the Constitution).

So the current state in Uganda is good since it is not elections time (understand why?).

We are joining here to combine our thoughts and efforts in order to facilitate the trip to Uganda to support Clovis and the other students in Uganda with the Vision Cafe that he has started there.

We will be discussing all aspects of the trip. Financing, accomodations, travel, agenda and things of the like.
