My Religion=My Faith

Starkey said Mar 21, 2008, 8:39 PM:

When I was younger I was Christian, although my parents tell about a time I tried athieism.  Several years I spend trying to creat my own religion, but it never felt quite right.  Eventually, I drifted into Wicca/Druidry.  Now I just believe in what feels right to me.  It is a mix of many different mythologies, with a great deal of Wicca and Druidry.  Athough I communicate with different deities I know that there is one great source that we are all a part of.  I can feel it when I listen and when I look with my eyes closed.

This is how my religion became my faith.

I feel similarly about Wicca; I did try Catholicism for a while, but I couldn't get into it. I'm still in awe of the beauty and the power of it and of how strongly people worship, but I've always been a witch at heart, even when I was a really litle girl. I thought stories where witches were portrayed as evil were awful and I did my best to turn those stereotypes around.

One of the things I love best about wicca is that as long as no one is harming anything it is ok for everyone to believe the way they want to and they can all go to heaven (or where ever) they want.  I hope someday that everyone believes that also, that we can coexist.

I've had a somewhat similar experience. I never really knew anything but Christianity, but the religion itself just didn't call to me…I resigned myself to agnosticism for the rest of my life. But then I started reading about Wicca, and various other forms of paganism, and found that it really spoke to me more deeply than anything else I'd ever heard.

I'm still in that year-long period of study that they reccomend before dedication, but I find the more and more I study it, the more I feel that it's for me. I love that it emphasizes a respect and love of the natural world, and encourages harmony with all things living.
