spirtuality

Ramona said Nov 19, 2006, 11:39 AM:

I used to wonder if I had landed in the wrong nest. My father was an avowed atheist and my mother was a de-facto agnostic. Despite this, I was intensely aware from the very youngest age that I was a spiritual being. Later, I came to see that coming into a family with no structured religious beliefs actually provided an open field for my explorations. Despite the fact that they weren't wild about the idea, my parents did permit me to explore into various religious faiths. I went to church and bible study with my predominately Christian friends and I explored the gamut of teachings in that faith. Later, in college, as a student of Comparative Religion and Philosophy, I broadened my search into world religions. Everywhere I found bits and pieces of resonance with what I knew was true for me, but also those things that did not resonant, so I kept looking.
As I have a celtic and Cherokee lineage,  I explored into tribal and shamanic practices. From the time I was very young, I was having many inexplicable experiences which frightened my parents and caused them to try to suppress my interests in ESP, psi phenomona, past lives, and ETs. Of course, the experiences redoubled. I began to sneak out to the library and read books off the shelves. I could not bring them home. I would hide the book I was reading on some obscure shelf, so I could find it again next time I could sneak away. It was not until I found Edgar Cayce that I started to realize that I was not crazy, and other people had experiences like mine and beliefs similar to mine. I suppose my spiritual beliefs could be seen as a patchwork quilt of bits and pieces of resonance cobbled together from the world's teachings…those bits that expressed in words that which I had experienced internally. As in so many aspects of my life, my spirituality beliefs belong to no religion, and to every religion. What I have decided is that religious teachings generally begin with a person who has a profound spiritual enlightenment, who then attempts to share that with others. These others filter the teachings through their own perceptual screens and the teachings begin to take on slants, biases, and omissions from the original. Over time, an effort will be made to codify what is left of the teachings, and the codification rigidifies and concretizes the spiritual message into dogma. I find that I have little resonance with dogma, but a great deal of resonance with the original fluid and expansive spiritual intent of the teachings….

Hello Ramona,
Well put - and very similar to my experiences.
By the way, the 'selection' of your parents and family situation etc. etc. are those most conducive to your purpose, perhaps even mission, in this life.
Much love,
()
Ian.

yes, as I know now…retrospectively speaking….i can see very clearly that the selection was perfect from every aspect…..i suppose i knew myself to be a particularly hard-headed soul, so i set things up to ram the points home so even i couldn't help but notice…lol…

an over abundance of road markers, once attuned to them, they are everywhere…it is that first encounter, awakening to them that is so startling…

working with past life and interlife regression has been enlightening…started spontaneously, continued with intent…what a unfolding flower of creation within which we live…extraordinary really….

I have had the exact same experience with my parents and environmental conditioning in which I had no option through my fate but to question and find an answer to my spiritual beliefs. It is very reassuring to interact with similar backgrounds, it seems to me that we also ahve developed in many ways parallel with our belief systems.

Iv always considered those pre-determined moments which have assisted my spiritual journey as magical and synchronisitic.

Here is one extract from The Milk Is White  which is relevant to this discussion.

Conception and Birth: Since a soul 'selects' its next life on Earth it will select one most suitable to its needs[1] and prospective parents can consciously create a particular 'environment' for an incoming soul through their attitudes, ideals etc.; most of which is part of them anyway but can be changed with the realisation that they can play a part in the preparations. However, they cannot choose, they can only set the stage so to speak. Apart from any conscious action in this regard there are, of course, the unconscious ones that exist, so we are talking of influencing rather than determining the individuality, personality and purposes of an incoming soul. Setting the stage is also possible, but to a lesser extent, materially. As an example of this, if their wish is for a musically inclined child, one or both of the parents can think music, visualise the child playing music and/or buy a piano, play it perhaps, or set up a music room or do this mentally.

To take this example further, in uninfluenced instances a soul, whose 'plan' includes music as an important part of the coming life, may choose a musical family or parent, or a life path that includes contact with a musician, or the opportunity of musical expression.

Obvious examples of such “coincidental” births abound in respect of any talent one would wish to name but, to avoid disappointment, it must be stressed that there is never any guarantee and take satisfaction from the fact that one is the ideal situation for the soul, and therefore the child. There is no guarantee apart from this because there is such a vast array of factors affecting an entire life.

As always, the motive of the parent or parents is of vital importance and the forces in action cannot be fooled. For instance if a parent or parents are after a musical prodigy for their personal aggrandisement they may still get such a soul but the outcome could be nothing like they expected, but certainly something which would give them a salutary learning experience. On the other hand that experience may be deferred for another time.
