Perhaps those who are successful at manifesting that which they desire in life haven't so much abandoned their competitive egocentric drive but they simply have mastered balancing that competitive egocentric drive with their inner spiritual self.

When I first started becoming aware of this way of being I felt that ego was unnecessary and even not desired at all. But I've learned through my growth that the ego is essential to us human beings and that the problem with ego is when we allow it to dictate all that we think/do/say and are. I suppose I think of the ego self as what sets us apart from the rest of the collective consciousness so in order to integrate ourselves into that collective consciousness and still retain our uniqueness we must allow our ego self to exist and perhaps even to thrive. But if we are to allow our ego selves to exist or thrive we also must balance that with the more spiritual inner self.

As for being competitive I also used to think that competition was a bad thing that only separated us but if we compete in a healthy way that comes not only from our ego but also from our inner spiritual self I don't see where there is any harm in doing so.

Being a devils advocate may i enquire as the the nature of "faith" as a comodity, it's strength and impact in keeping with their cudos and artistry relative to faith as a phenomenal instrument to be weilded.

i may be misguided but feel those successfull in this sphere of activity have, to some degree abandoned their competitive ego centric drive

Perhaps our inter personal interfacing ,metaphysicly, at a non physical level, requires our using the facility of the collective consciousness, which, as a gate keeper, might not permit that which would not further the scenario we are driving our selves to.

I totally agree with Jojn. Our reality is plastic. I too began with SOM and it changed my life by changing my thinking, my perception of reality. Later I began with Ramtha and he has greatly enlarged my vision and my understanding about self love and the Kingdom of Heaven within all people and how to use it to do the greater things.------ What I would like to add is that the consciousness of war-lord, tyrant appears to be alive and well in most people. It is that consciousness that we seek to let go of. It is not enough to ask that those who are the leaders in the world stop creating wars and being tyrants. The Self needs to address the issue within the Self. This begins in personal Life. As long as the consciousness of the people wants power over another and seeks to destroy by thought, word or deed we will continue this consiousness. Those who intimidate, value the dollar over human life, have lack of respect for those in their homes, their world we cannot expect this consciousness to transend into a greater one. The work to be done is cloer at hand than Iraq, Africa, Egypt or Iran. Our leaders and theirs will never end the reign of terror, the oppression of women until each one of us, as individuals end it in personal life. Peace

It looks to me like you're over complicating things. Wars happen because of unconscious, narcissistic egos with an agenda. There may be millions of reasons why things are the way they are in the world, but there is a solution, and it lies within every human being. If we are going to change the world we have to change ourselves. Change within equals change without.. and we can do that by applying Intent.

We live in a quantum field of pure potential, so what we say comes back to us, and what we put a lot of energy on comes back even faster. So we must be the solution. If we focus on the myriad of unconscious agendas on the planet then we get more of that. If, on the other hand we focus on world peace and the healing of every human heart and mind, we can achieve that as well.

I've been consciously creating my reality since I was in my early 20s, and I can tell you first hand that it works magnificently. I've created homes, cars, money, girlfriends, jobs.. you name it. I also changed the direction of a tornado that was headed for Springfield MO one summer day and it did a perfect 90 degree turn west just like I told it to at the exact moment that I intended it! Along with two friends of mine I also changed the weather over a 100 square mile area for an entire year in southwestern Colorado. Everyone else in the entire southwest U.S. was experiencing severe drought, but the town of Pagosa Springs and the San Juan National Forest had above normal rain and snowfall for the full 12 months that we were Intending. Then once we dropped our intention, they went back to drought conditions.

On the other side of the coin, when my wife died in 1994 I went through severe depression and PTSD and created a living hell for myself. So we create whether we want to or not. That's just the way things are. We're energetic beings living in an enormous energy field.. so how can we not impact it? The answer is that we can and do all the time.

But we also need to pay attention to what's going on in the world and work to change it in whatever way we can. I don't advocate hiding our heads in the sand or being off in some escapist la la land for one second. We are God living in the Body of God.. and we have a responsibility to make the world conscious and peaceful. Part of what we're doing here is learning how to use the power that's ours by Divine ordination. Jesus tried to teach us that when he said if we had the faith of a mustard seed we could tell the mountain to go to the sea.. but we haven't paid much attention.. yet.

So it becomes a matter of applying loving intent and visualizing the world as we want it to be.. and being persistent.. but at the same time allowing Divine Wisdom to do a re-direct if necessary. Who are we to say that God might not have a nice clean planet waiting for us right now and want leave this one to the narcissistic egos? I don't have a clue.. but I do know I'm going to live in peace and Love and if I hold my intent that WILL come about.

Personaly, the only problem I could possibly see with The Secret is the lack of belief on the vizualizer's part. The documentary also says that how it works doesn't matter, just that it does work. Don't make the visualizng process more complicated than it is. If you need to focus on a reason, focus on th one basic reason. In my opinion, all wars come down to the fact that someone is not content. So, instead of focusing on many different specific reasons, focus on one.

I think that if you tried to visualize something for someone else it might work, but it definatly wouldn't be a strong if the person visualized it themselves. I can't hope that my boyfriend gets over his sickness, but it's his body that has to fight the virus. It doesn't have to be your resposibility to make someone else's life better. Your soul's purpose is to be happy.

I hope that you don't think I'm trying to argue with you. It sounded like you wanted some answers, so I put my two cents out on the table.

Hi there! This is my first post and I wanted to discuss something with you tahat bothered me.

Well I am a true believer on human mind but watching these two documantries makes me wonder some things.

It is true that we can change our addictions.Science and real human experince showed us that we can change this.People healing wthout kemothreapy and going “cold turkey” -if yo will- with only the power of mind has great examples.

But these are things changing in OURSELVES with OUR mind and brain.

I think What the Bleep really focuses on human mind reordering but The Secret focuses on more material things like money or wealth.

Lets say you always wanted a Ford Mustang - who did not :) - , it is true and I believe that if a person puts his mind on it, and acts -that's the most important thing- for it, like saving money,checking out places for a good price not just visualising the car you are driving in the end this people working too hard for it in some time he will get it.

It is also acceptable for money and love, the most important thing here not just visualising but acting and if you ask me I will say it has an importance like 90% acting,%10 visualising.

They are all concepts which can happen and they are in somewhat small scale.But when it comes world change I found a problem.

We must remember it is an material world,I know we are trying to change it but knowing it is the first step to change it by asking the question why it is like that.

With questioning the status quo we start to realize the powers which made it powerful.As an example

The emperalist money based companies rule the world Why?
        because there is no another choice for some of them for now Why
             because good people always acts late Why
                  because they believe in people's mind and ability and so on.

The Secret says we must not focus on the problem and THE solution for itself and but A solution and how to make this solution better.

Hale Dwoskin says “If you are against war be pro peace. If you are against hunger be pro people having more than enough to eat. If you are against a particular politician be pro his opponent.”

But I would say
-There is no one place and one reason.There are hundreds of different wars becouse of millions different reasons.Focus on the reasons and try to solve all of them be pro peace but be aginst the reason.

-If they have enough to eat it is not hunger.What will a place which real hunger strike if we only focus on enough fed people.

              -Is it a Social Darwinist idea? Does it say if they are in total hunger let them die
               so the others survive?

               -And by the way Does it say just think about yourself and wish for yourself, if the
                others didn't wish for it it is their problem because it says :
              “You are not here to change the world as you like to be.You are here the create the
world around you that you choose.While you would allow the world others choose
to be to exist also.” Wow it really sounded like an egocentric leave them as they are
   they deserve it talk, to me isn't it? I hope not.

-In politics you must have a view.Because it is the poltics that define every aspect of our lifes.It is the idea that you look from, to the world. The Secret,What the Bleep are just tools for it.I don't say pick a idea,you can have a unified different view.But,The Secret says work for AN opponent not for THE opponent.We must work for the idea that our society most needs which they lack and we must work for it.

I hope I could work some of your neurocells to make new bindings :) And I am open to all kinds of ideas so bring it on! :b

It certainly is a valid issue to bring up, the down-side of the Law of Attraction, however we ALL have been living the down side and the up side of the Law of Attraction our entire lives...and lives before this one...

It is interesting to me that so many when they learn about the Law of Attraction seem to think that this 'Law' only exists when and if we believe it exists and it only is working when we are conscious of it and make it work for us.

The Law of Attraction exists...PERIOD! It exists whether we believe it exists or not. It exists whether we know it exists or not. It exists even if we know about it and don't choose to use it to our benefit. It exists even if we know about and think it's a bunch of new age bunk. It exists even if we have tried it and it hasn't worked. It simply EXISTS!

So let's say we all agree to accept that the Law of Attraction exists, has always existed and will always exist. Now the question for all of us is whether or not we are going to live consciously making conscious choices based on whether or not those choices will benefit us in a positive manner OR whether or not we are going to live by default thinking whatever thoughts, both reasonable and dysfunctional, we've accumulated throughout our lives never really feeling as if we are in control and always blaming everything else in creation for our woes as well as thanking 'luck' for our good fortune. It is absolutely positively a conscious choice we make once we are aware of the possibilities that exist for us through the Law of Attraction. Of course there are some people who haven't been exposed to the information about the Law of Attraction and who are still living by default...they are just unaware of it. Of those living by default it isn't necessarily true that their lives are in disarray or that they are creating a life for themselves that continues to bring negative results. I'm sure that there are plenty of people living by default blissfully unaware of the existence of the Law of Attraction who have wonderful positive happy productive lives because they are wonderful positive happy productive people by nature OR they simply learn from their mistakes and from the stressful situations they have had in their lives. For those living by default who don't fit into that demographic there is plenty of reason for them to take a look at the information being shared around the internet, through books and through films on the Law of Attraction in an effort to 'stop the bleeding' so to speak and begin to live consciously. Remember the Law of Attraction isn't a new concept...in fact I don't believe it's a concept at all it is simply a matter of whether or not we have been exposed to the information about it.

Yes oh yes there is what could be considered a down side to the Law of Attraction IF one chooses to have that perspective. But what if instead of viewing it as a downside we simply viewed it as a new opportunity to learn how to use the Law of Attraction to our very best benefit? EVERYTHING that happens to us is a new opportunity to learn, to evolve, it is only our human egos that try to convince us that events/situations/tragedies are only bad because they are things that cause us emotional suffering...but then again it is always up to us how long we will suffer and how deeply we will suffer. Actually all of those 'bad' things that happen to us we attracted to ourselves to provide ourselves with the opportunity to learn, to evolve. At least that is how I see it.

Bottom line...we are in the drivers seat of our lives even if we don't think we are even in the car!

Of course this is all my opinion, as well as how I'm learning to live my life, and it's not necessary for anyone to agree or subscribe to it.

This is an interesting story you tell and an important point. The Law of Attraction is just that. Yes, it can be used for a specific purpose but it is the feeling, as you rightly point out, that the fulfillment of a desire would give you, that need be focused upon. Then, the energy is aligned with the manifestation, which may include an object that has attracted the attention.

It operates equally by default, based upon the overall emotional tone of a person and the physical objects and situations their minds dwell upon. Therefore, those who "practice" LOA are really taking an important step in realizing their roll in the course of their own lives. They take that first step from victim to navigator and that is never a bad thing.

Your story is a very good, broader perspective of the LOA than the simple get rich, have a new car and home and a desirable love interest that captures the imagination of the masses. I think all the overcoming you have experienced has tempered you nicely.

Would it be churlish to introduce discussion about the down side of the Law Of Attraction.

I am not a doubter or a "debunker". All the most important things came into my life (including a dramatic escape from Stalinist Hungary) because of this Law.

What I am talking about is the serious reality that we "should be careful what we wish for because we will get it".
Practicing LOA can encourages spiritual materialism and attract material things to oneself without realising that it is someone else's work that we are appropriating. Even practicing with the classic parking space scenario is questionable. We may "achieve" because, for all we know, an unfortunate driver received the news that, for example, something went wrong in his family and had to rush home to sort it.

My "bible" while I was literally "down and out in Paris" was Think And Grow Rich.
I was in my early twenties, a Hungarian refugee, domiciled in England, wanting to live in this dream City for two years, learn French and absorb the bohemian atmosphere I used to read about when I was languishing in the prison state that was supposed to be my "mother land".

Anyway, the point I was going to make was that I realized early on that I do not want money itself but the things money can buy, mainly the freedom from the cares of making a living by selling my labour to others just to earn the right to be alive.

Many years later I found that there are people all over the world lobbying for what is known, among other names, as Unconditional Basic Income. This is a worthwhile thing to Attract because the benefits from achieving it will be enjoyed by everyone and because it will be a cultural and social evolutionary leap for the whole of the human family.

Ok, it may seem arrogant to dismiss lesser objectives to practice LOA, but I am not really arrogant but a gentle soul wanting the best possible world to be realised for the benefit of everyone.

What a cool idea! OK.. I have a lot of them, but I want to tell you one that illustrates how we create whether we know it or not:

Once upon a time.. ;-) I was sitting in an apartment with my new wife and we were sitting on a couple of PA speakers that we were using as furniture.. and we were talking. At one point Mary asked me "Where would you live if we ever moved out of Colorado?".. and my immediate response was "In Arizona!" because I'd been there a few years earlier and fell in love with the desert. Well.. she broke into a huge grin and said "Me too!" I've watched Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and all the cowboy movies my whole life.. and I want to get a place where I can have a horse and go riding!" I thought that sounded pretty cool.. so I asked her "What kind of house do you want to get when we get there?".. to which she replied "I don't care.. but it has to be at least an acre where I can keep a horse, and it has to have a horseshoe driveway out front!" So I said.. "That sounds neat.. I'd like to have a house with Spanish style architecture.. you know.. the kind with arched doorways and windows." She said she thought that was cool.. and that was the last we talked of it and we both forgot about it.

Then life happened, and we lived in Denver for the next three years, bought a house.. then sold the house and moved to Maryland where Mary was from.. bought a new house and settled into new careers and I went to college. It was in Maryland that a new component was factored into the equation that was to become our home in Arizona. I started getting interested in foreclosures and decided that when we got to AZ, I was going to buy a foreclosure and get a GREAT deal on it.

It wasn't until after 10 years in Maryland that we finally decided we were moving to Mesa Arizona. So we found a nice rental house in Mesa with a swimming pool, and settled into a new life out west.

Then after a year, we decided it was time to buy another home, so we began looking in the rural areas around Mesa. Keep in mind that we both had completely forgotten about our conversation regarding that house.. and that were only concerned with getting a horse property.

Then one Sunday we were out driving around in an area we liked, hoping something might come on the market, and we drove by a house that I'd had my eye on that looked unoccupied. So I told her to call the realtor the next day and see if he knew anything about it.. and after I left for work the next morning she did. When she gave him the address he said "You're not going to believe this.. but I was just going to call you about that very house because it just came on the market this morning!" So we came to terms on it and bought it.

After we'd been there a year or so we were sitting watching a movie.. a western.. and suddenly the conversation that we'd had 14 years earlier came to me. I was completely blown away.. so much that I paused the movie and looked at her and said "Oh my God.." I think she thought I was losing it by the way she looked at me.. but she just said "What's the matter?". I replied.. "Do you remember sitting in the apartment talking about the house we wanted to live in when we got to Arizona?" She sat there and looked as dumbfounded as I felt and said "Oh my God..". We had been living in that very house for over a year and didn't even realize it!

It was a 2200 square foot Spanish style rancher with arched windows and doorways.. sitting on an acre and a quarter horse property.. AND it had a horseshoe driveway out front! Not only that... but I bought it from a bank that had taken it back on foreclosure.. and they had put over $20,000 into it! It had a new roof, new carpets, new paint and drywall, and we bought it over $14,000 BELOW what it had sold for four years previously.

So the universe actually brought us the house we had talked about 14 years before.. and forgotten about.. and had brought it at foreclosure and given us an amazing deal on it.

I could go on and on.. because I have dozens of stories like this.. but for now..

Dear Barb,
When it comes the 'The Secret' as well to everything else in life...we are the ones who set the limits for ourselves as to what is and isn't possible for us. We can place the responsibility on others to set what we believe is or isn't possible for us but then we are giving our power away and allowing others to dictate to us what we are and aren't capable of being or doing or having. No one can place limits upon us unless we accept their limits. Oh yes there are laws that limit us that we must abide by BUT we are the ones who make that decision whether or not to adhere to that law or to ignore it.

It isn't what part of the world we live in but it is the knowledge that we ALL exist in an infinite Universe that can supply anything and everything we need and desire in life. All we have to do is to 'KNOW' exactly what it is we want, 'KNOW' that we deserve to have it and 'KNOW' it is ours as if we already had it. Hoping is NOT enough...hope leaves everything open to the possiblity that what we want may not come to fruition...it is ONLY through KNOWING that it will be that we can manifest the things that we desire.

Again I see many people attracting the information 'The Secret' offers to themselves and deciding, based on their past experience and social conditioning, that what 'The Secret' shares with us only works for us under certain conditions. The thing is that we have each and every one of us been 'manifesting' our lives all along. There are those of us who have manifested by default attracting experiences to ourselves willy nilly according to our fears, what we perceive to be our own shortcomings, what others tell us is possible, our prejudices, our intolerances and many other aspects of who we are that we typically don't give a single thought to...that is just who we are...who has been created by society, our parents and our own beliefs about ourselves and what we believe is possible and impossible. There as some of us as well, as 'The Secret' shares with us, that decide to sit in the drivers seat of our lives and manifest a life for ourselves that we know we deserve to have, that gives us joy and that blesses others in the mix. We are ALL manifesting with every thought, every expectation, every desire, every fear, every social belief, every religious belief, every decision, every choice... What 'The Secret' is about, and we all should understand this is not new by any means, is taking the helm of our lives and deciding for ourselves what is going to possible for us.

As for those in Dufur. Have you ever considered that these beings attracted this situation to themselves based on their collective belief that it is not possible for anything else to happen? Oh yes they may know exactly what they want...but knowing what we want is not enough to change our lives. Knowing what we want is simply the beginning. When we know we deserve it and know that it is possible...that is when things begin to happen.

Have you ever noticed how the media infuses so much negativity into every situation? How many times have you heard a report of a tragedy or an unpleasant situation end with the news reporter making the statement, "And it is believed that it will only get worse!" Okay so if we want to believe that positive thoughts and expectations can bring about positive change in our lives then we also have to understand that negative thoughts and expectations will bring exactly what we believe that they will. In other words our belief as to what might happen matters and when we believe that nothing good can happen...that is the answer the Universe provides us. The Universe cares not whether we want something positive or negative...It only wants to give us what It perceives that we want and It uses our thoughts, feelings, expectations and desires to determine what to send our way.

In closing I will simply say that what I've shared here is not simply my humble opinion but is my personal experience as well as the experience of many people I have met on line who have drastically changed their lives for the better simply by knowing what they wanted, understanding that they deserve having it and living as if it was already theirs. It isn't a trick, it isn't luck, it isn't a farce. It is real and it is happening everywhere.

We can take or leave the concept of manifesting a better lives for ourselves that much is correct and we can most certainly believe whatever we chose to believe (and live by). BUT we cannot take or leave the fact that we manifest each and every event, situation and moment in our lives. That is a constant of the Universe...the question is always whether or not we chose to manifest with purpose or by default. The choice falls with no one but ourselves.

P.S. As for doing for others...that is simply a given if we are to realize that we are all beings of love and light and we are all in this thing together... Giving unselfishly of oneself is truly the best gift that we could ever get. However we must make sure that we are whole and able to give of ourselves in order to be a blessing to others. Also giving specifically with the expectation of getting something in return is the fastest way to feel as if we are being taken advantage of by others. It must be selfless and without expectation in order to become a blessing unto our selves as well as to others. What goes around comes around...that is the natural state of the Universe.

How the secret works: You focus on what you want, and move away from what you don't want. Works ok as long as you live in a part of the world that contains what you want. It also works ok as long as you don't mind walking over others and their needs.

OF COURSE it doesn't work if you live in Darfur, silly. Don't you think those people know EXACTLY what they want?? It just isn't there for them.

And, of course, it doesn't work so well either if you spend too much time thinking of others and their needs. You really have to focus on yourself , your needs, and what YOU think others need.

Everyone knows that if you are grabby, you have a better chance of getting what you want than if you are unselfish. The "secret" is the hidden and untrue notion that this life style is a spiritual path of some sort. Wouldn't it be nice to wake up some day and discover that the boring old golden rule was wrong, and that it really is the right thing to just grab what you want? Well, it isn't going to happen.

THE REAL SECRET has been in plain sight for millenia: Know yourself, help others, love one another, share, control your selfishness, learn to let go. You know all this. There really is no secret.

Hello everyone, saw the Secret for the first time in parts months ago, and wasn't really of the frame of mind to take it in. Then I saw it again recently, and I found it to be an interesting, kind of a food for thought concept.

I didn't think it would solve the problems of the universe, and some things I thought it left out. I think as another poster pointed out, there are billions of secrets, and probably, this is a good primer to be introduced into that reality.

However, I think there is a danger in only accepting one reality, which can result in disconnection from all that is. In taking in the whole, taking what truly resonates to self, in other words, not just saying, "I love it" when it isn't my truth. (Truth for me comes from many different teachers, and also a good teacher will direct you to ultimately think for yourself.)

That would be saying there was only one truth to be had, and there being so many religions that satisfy different people's needs, and so many different types of people, there cannot be just one movie that answers everything. So thanks to the Secret for introducing a concept to the masses, but it's important to say that it may only be a launch pad for the greater adventure and paradoxes that present in life.

The world is full of rich resources that might resonate to people at different times, and many, many teachers.

It's my honest opinion that the film the Secret is both partial and whole. I say this because what the Secret is depends absolutely positively on our perception of it and on what we choose to make it. In fact I believe this is one thing the Secret shares with us quite clearly....that our lives are exactly what we perceive them to be...what we put into them and what we get out of them.

If everything, including the Secret, is whole to you then that is your reality and for you in all situations and under all conditions everything will be whole. If the Secret is only partial to you then that is your reality and for you all situations and under all conditions the Secret will be partial. It, as well as life, is only whole if we perceive it to be and is only partial if we perceive it to be.

I have found that no one person can dictate what 'reality' is going to be for another...not unless the other person agrees.

In closing I suppose my opinion is that the Secret and all the other enlightening information out there today is exactly what we percieve it to be. If we choose to allow the possibility of what the Secret and other sources of information about evolving ourselves to a higher life into our lives then we will realize what we find for ourselves in the information...if we choose to reject part or all of the Secret and other sources of information then we are eliminating those possibilities from our existence and will continue to live our lives by default never really feeling like we have control over anything in our lives.
