This is a poem I wrote my freshman year of college in an English class.

"Life Resembles Hacky Sack"

It flies and falls

Gets dropped and saved

The feeling one gets is

Constantly craved.

You slide and stretch

And kick and jump

Only to juggle a

Small falling lump.

Alone is tough

And lacks support

A team works better to

Handle this sport.

We whine and fight

And piss and moan

But in the end we are

Never alone.

The world (universe) is a hologram and I am its projector.

Life is an experiment and I am a scientist.

Those are my two contributions! I love this idea, creating our own, personal metaphors for life and the world we live in.

~Cat

To defy even oneself. To question the very basic things we are and we do every day. To see ourselves not as a tool, but as just another question…

That is exploring :D

Well said,
Debby

An expert? That would seem rather selfish to address without thorough comparison with other. I don't think I am an expert in anything. I do think however that I think about the world, and can see the world in a rather Unique way.

The day one ceases to explore is the day one grows bored of death, This can happen both in lifetime and in death. It is usually when one has found a way to detain themselves from all forms of society, nature and dreams. Possible, but hard. ;)

I know I don't know much about chinese languages and such. And I know I do not know what women see in me. I also know I do not know many things, but only few I can come up with. (that is the idea ;))

And Irony, as I once qouted: ' The best answer is usually a question'

:) Fantasy, ingenuity, understanding. To defy even oneself. To question the very basic things we are and we do every day.
      Alex,

Since I'm not too certain exactly why the 'label' of your name you feel is limiting it's a bit difficult to comment much. If you mean to say that the person who Alex Chua is you feel limits you somewhat then I suppose the best answer might be to re-invent who Alex Chua is and what it represents to you in your mind. Not a single one of us is 'carved in stone' when it comes to who we are and if any limits exist they are the ones that we place upon ourselves. Even if another person has set limits for us...it is we who decide whether or not to adhere to those limits so no matter which way we slice it we are the ones who decided what our limits are. Bottom line my friend is that if you feel limited...then change your perspective OR decide to no longer be limited by that thing.

As for language I think we all do it subconsciously which as we are beginning to learn is exactly where we need to make the changes within ourselves. There is so much language that we can catch ourselves using and change. My first was when I wanted to eradicate hatred from my life and from my heart. I made a conscious decision not to say that I hate anything anymore...not even if I'm saying I hate a particular food. You would be amazed how often I 'caught' myself saying that I hated something. Today I do not use the word at all and have been able to re-train myself not only not to say the word hate but not to think it even. I may dislike something or even abhor something but to me these two words do not hold the connotation that hate does and I find them acceptable when trying to describe how I feel about a particular thing. Of course a lovely caveat of all of this was that I don't 'think' about hating or even disliking so much anymore...I tend to have a more open mind about a lot of things and choose to change my perspective whenever I feel myself leaning toward disliking something.

Blessings,
Cheryl

"We must not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we began and to know the place for the first time." ~ Thomas Stearnes Elliot

In which area of your life have you became an expert? Have you ceased from exploration?

Maybe it's time to get to know "the place" again... for the first time...

Do you know what you don't know?

Only exploration holds the answer... & the question.

Go on, start your personal Quest for Clarity & post your questions here ;-)

Abstract from my Beyond Possibilities™ Study Skills System [BP3S]

What makes a question useful? Useful questions are the ones that open up new possibilities and allow us to co-create new realities. Why do we have a tendency to avoid asking these questions? We have vested interest or sunken costs in our current reality. We rather hide within our comfort zone and be limited by our imaginary boundaries than expand our possibilities and risk any discomfort and tension.

Questions determine the quality of your thinking, which leads on to the quality of your decisions, actions, and results.

Leonardo da Vinci is recognized as one of the greatest geniuses of all time. He had an insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning.

The following journal exercise helps you develop self-awareness and discover clarity.

88 Questions

Find a comfortable place, sit down, and write a list of 88 questions that are interesting or important to you. Review the list and choose the top 8 according to their importance at this moment in your life. Go play & discover the answers to your questions!

Albert Einstein said that "Imagination is more important than knowledge." & Nancy Willard said that “Sometimes questions are more important than answers.” If I may add something... I'd like to suggest that "Questions are more important than Answers, Always!"

EnJOY!
(C) Alex Chua, 2007

Maybe these guys from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy would agree with me?

Arthur Dent: Just wait a sodding minute! You want a question that goes with the answer for 42? Well, how about what's six times seven? Or how many Vogons does it take to change a lightbulb? Here's one! How many roads must a man walk down?
Lunkwill: Hey, that's not bad!
Arthur Dent: Fine. Fine, take it. Because my head is filled with questions and I can assure you no answer to any one of them has ever brought me one iota of happiness. Except for one. The one. The only question I've ever wanted an answer to - is she the one? The answer bloody well isn't forty-two, it's yes. Undoubtedly, unequivocally, unabashadly yes. And for one week, one week in my sad little blip of an existence, it made me happy.
Trillian: That's a good answer...
Lunkwill: Rubbish, we don't want to be happy, we want to be famous!
Fook: Yeah!
Dear Alex! I love your question.

I take the term 'label' to mean concept, description, idea.

Have you read any Steven Harrison? (he has a website called DoingNothing.com).

I just posted a blog called The End of Spirituality, which has a few excerpts from his book, What's Next After Now (which has a chapter called, yes, Co-Creation).

This following pieces are also from this book... I sense they 'speak'' to your question:

"All descriptions are inaccurate, including this one. Any story we have is a distortion. Any meaning, any location, any placement in time is approximate, subjective, constructed in a relative reality..

...Thought is static, the thought of me is entirely fixed, but what we are in actuality is dynamic, an expression of an energetic universe and an unlimited potential."

Sending love,
Sandra

Hi Cheryl,

My biggest label is my name & everything it has come to mean for myself & those around me... it's can be limiting when I feel too attached to the identity it represents...

As for the language... those that as still limiting me I'm not aware of them yet. Those that used to limit me have been brought to conscious awareness mostly through the use of distinctions, which are part of what I call AX (Awareness eXpansion) Technologies.

The questions that started this post is an example of AX... reflect & journal with it...

An example of distinctions will be:

Change ≠ Choice ≠ Create

To benefit from this exercise, reflect on how they are distinct from each other & share your insight here.

Well Alex I have no idea. What are some of the labels and the language you are using that you feel may be limiting you?

I know that as I watch television especially the news and product commercials that I see a lot of language that really needs to change if this world is going to continue moving in a positive direction.

Blessings,
Cheryl

Goodness Quest is a very simple but powerful game that can transform your life. Play it daily, either alone or with your friends, for at least 21 consecutive days for maximum impact.

This game works by shifting your state of awareness, which is extremely powerful for sparking a transformation because "From any given state of consciousness some things are possible and others are not. Some things can be perceived and some cannot. Some things can be known and others cannot." ~ Robert L. Spencer

Before you embark on this quest, you'll be equipped with some 'weapons' :-)

Weapons
Gratitude Goggles (G2)
Appreciation Antenna (A2)
Zaadz Zoom (Z2)

How to Play
Use your Gratitude Goggles to identify someone, something or some situation toward which you feel grateful.

Use your Appreciation Antenna to identify someone, something or some situation toward which you feel sincere admiration.

Zaadz Zoom is inspired by the following quotation from Napoleon Hill. With Zaadz Zoom, the intention is to recognize the seed and realize its full potential.

"Every adversity carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit." ~ Napoleon Hill

Use your Zaadz Zoom to identify someone, something or some situation in which you see potential and for which you envision future possibilities beyond what is immediately obvious.

Record all your findings in your Goodness Quest Journal, one item per line. Label each item with G2, A2 or Z2.

Each G2 item is worth 1 point, each A2 item is worth 2 points and each Z2 item is worth 3 points.

The basic intention of Goodness Quest is to help you access a state of Gratitude and Appreciation, from which something else becomes possible.

The advance intention of Goodness Quest is to help you live a passionate, positive and fulfilling life that is filled with joy and happiness.

To actualize the advance intention, you are required to go beyond recording your findings in your Goodness Quest Journal... You are to share your findings with your subject so that he/she may recognize and realize his/her potential. This is the philosophy of Ignite & Share Your SPARKSTM. First igniting Your SPARKS, then through Sharing of Your SPARKS, you ignite the SPARKS in another and the fire burns on...

Hence, when you share your findings with your subject, multiply your original points for that item by 3.

Collect as many points as you can each day. If you are playing alone, compare today's score with yesterday's and aim to win yourself. If you are playing with a group of friends, whoever with the highest total score at the end of 21 days, wins. You can also identify a winner for the highest daily score.

Note 1: In Goodness Quest, Appreciation is practiced using 2 separate weapons (Appreciation Antenna & Zaadz Zoom) for incremental learning.

Note 2: Distinction between Gratitude & Appreciation

"Gratitude is an attitude, a state of consciousness where one is aware of the 'good' and 'positive' that is already present in one's life. It is about directing one's attention to seeing the positive aspect of a situation or person (including self), instead of what is 'bad'. Since we get more of what we focus on, the practice of gratitude would notice and attract to us more of what is 'good' (including possibilities, opportunities and solutions)."

"Appreciation goes beyond Gratitude. Becoming aware of and being grateful for what we already have/are is a basic requirement for happiness and successes. Expressing gratitude for what another person has done for us takes this one step further. But to really make a quantum leap calls for a sense of appreciation, which is the ability to look beyond what is immediately obvious, so that one may see ‘What Else is Possible?'

Appreciation is the ability to recognize and bring out the best in another (and self). It is about recognizing the SPARKS (potential) that are inherent in a person and to ignite these so that they may be shared with even more people. It is also about envisioning the future possibilities that are unfolding from the present situation."

(C) Alex Chua, 2007

      Dear Rex,

In your realization about reality and our perception you have already realized and accept one of the keys to growing a happy healthy eternal garden for yourself. Congratulations my friend...you've already done most of the hard work and it is all icing on the cake from here!

As for death...according to Dr. Deepak Chopra, who I respect highly, we are all dying with each moment we live. He says that life is actually the process of dying. In addition to that he reminds us that millions if not billions of our body's cells die every single day and our entire body is re-created anew many times within our lifetime. So concurrently we die many times physically throughout our lifetime. He also says that when we die it is not the end for us. I believe what he says is true...at least for me for my reality from my perspective.

The other day at work I commented to someone that I wish it was already Friday and he said to me, "Why Cheryl, you're wishing your life away!" To that I responded, "Oh I'm not worried...I have another life coming after this one..."

Blessings,
Cheryl

I have a few metaphors on life, but mostly they're unformed.

I think we create our reality. Perception is reality, so whatever someone thinks is true is true.

You can live your life by a set of rules, or throw the book away and live for the moment, but neither one is right or wrong, and both have their good and bad points.

My metaphor for life is death. It's essentially a clock ticking. To live is to die essentially. When my father died, I mourned his loss, but I also realized that a part of me died with him, and parts of me die all the time.

Life is like a garden though, and although I guess I am morbidly obsessed with death and its prevalence, I do believe life to be like a nursery. I believe in birth and growth, and even re-creation. I've changed my personal outlook on life so much lately. I know I am not the same person I was a year ago.

In the garden that is your life, you take out the weeds as you go along. You can be lazy and let them take over without much effort. I think that is an amazing metaphor. Laziness can make your life a living hell; left untamed, the 'weeds' really cloud everything, and choke what is important.

Sometimes weeds look beautiful, but they're essentially weeds.

You have to plant new things all the time, and harvest things when they are ripe. Too soon a harvest they'll be immature and bitter. The beauty about old things, like grapes, is that even when they go bad, they make the best wine. There is such a thing as letting go of the old though. You wouldn't hold on to something dead in the ground.

You'd make sure it had plenty of water and air, and sunshine. You can't hurry nature, so why stress about things? You sow what you reap, so if you want to reap a lot - sow a lot. If you've done nothing all summer - then guess what? You get nothing in the Winter!

Sometimes bad things happen, like storms, and a life time of work can go to ruin in seconds. This isn't always chance. There are fools that rush in where angels fear to tread, but it can happen to us all, and it makes us better or bitter.

When this happens, you have two choices. You can lie in your little garden and cry, or you can salvage what you can and make the most of any given situation. Look at it as a chance to start anew. I've had to start over more than once.

I've even had a layout for a perfect garden, only to find out that it wasn't a map for me at all. It was a map for Detroit and I'm in a whole other State!

So life is like a garden you need to take care of; to me at least. Sometimes bad things happen for no reason, and sometimes, everything is perfect. You can't control the weather, but you can control the attitude.

The power of thought and prayer are very big. 'Good vibes' sent out from our bodies, and positive people around us can make real magic in our lives happen.

A good song can make me smile, or cry. Sometimes it's hard to let go of things, and you think you have, but a song will bring a memory back in colour, sound and smell. That is why you have to build a strong mind to deal with it.
