Years ago I read a book by one of the Sound Current teachers (Surat Shabd Yoga) afrom memory it was probably Sant Kirpal Singh, and what he said was “Enlightenment is easy, being a perfect man is the hard part”.
Ok, we could get a bit lost here and add lots of baggage to that comment. I guess a good place to start is “Be a perfect man”. If we are from a very tight, too hard on yourself background, you'll probably beat yourself up for years trying to be our version of what you consider PERFECT to be. Dangerous stuff.
I do like the enlightment is easy bit, it appeals to my Path of Not Doing, Be There Now, approach to that weird thing called Spirituality. Let's face, we don't need to Qunatum Physicists to work out that we are all made of the same substance, at our core is the Heart of All Things and we float in space and mingle our molecules with other beings.
So what to do? We know this, but the bottom line, is the failure to believe it. Here's the rub, or the centre of the issue. We are constantly moving away from ourselves, perpetually trying to become something. It's as silly as a dog trying to be a dog, regardless what we tell the dog, he will still go woof and do dog nature things. We are still lT, the God Thing, The Ocean of Consciousness no matter what we do. We have been programmed into being small, that we are sinners, to be little. And here's the real issue, humanity has a preconceived idea of what God is. So there is the starting point. To undo what we think we are.
I've writte a number of articles recently at my new Dharma blog, the Star People, no it's not about aliens, it's about the Dharma and breaking down the old ways of thinking. To go to the Start People Blog click Here
I might also create an article based on this later
