Katrina Here

Katrina said Nov 21, 2006, 11:07 PM:

Hi, my name is Katrina Waters. I have a two-year old son and a new baby on the way (13 weeks along). I created this pod to unite a powerful, open, loving community of mommies who value their health and well-being and want to make a difference for their child(ren) through the practice of yoga.
Ever since i was a young child, i just loved babies…my sister and i would fight over who would get to hold them. I knew there was something miraculous about them, though didn't really know what at the time. i just knew that when i was holding a baby, i was in heaven and at peace with the world.
babies/children have the power to move mountains. they are so connected to spirit and to being. and, to now be called a mom is the greatest honor and privledge i have been given in this lifetime, no doubt!
I am a yoga practitioner and instructor and am creating a Yoga For Mommies dvd this next year. Why? because i have experienced the power and magic of what a yoga practice can do for me and for others. Being pregnant is one of the most incredible times in my life where i get to so intimately share my body and energy with another. Yoga has this bond grow even deeper inside.
I want to make a difference in people's lives through the journey of getting to know one's self through yoga. I want to have people fall in love with their bodies and them self. I want to have children learn the power and magic of yoga at a young age to keep them healthy, alert and aware of who they are and connected to source.
ahhh, i want a lot! and, i want as many people on board as possible to help. i want to get to know you. i want to be able to come to this pod and share my deepest thoughts and feelings. i want to know that i'll be seen and heard. and, i want to be able to return the favor anytime, anyday.
i am looking forward to meeting you!
namaste sweet yogi-mommies!

My name is DeAnna and I am the Mother of a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. Although I question my abilities as a mother on a daily basis, I remind myself that they have chosen me for this journey so it's “all good”. I do my best. Yoga helps me be a better mother, friend, spouse……fill in the blank. Yoga with my children before birth allowed me to bond and to nurture my body so I could better nurture my baby.  My children are my daily teachers and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. Yoga after birth has allowed me to find respect for this “new” body I have and while it is no longer as youthful-looking as it was before pregnancy, it is a body I wear with pride since the outcome of it's sacrifice is more wonderful than anything I could have ever done with my body before kiddos. Make sense?

hello!
i'm just enetering the second trimester with my first baby. i'm 41. so happy to be pregnant, and marvelling at how sensitive my body is and how my intuitive capacities have become so powerful! i know exactly what to eat and when (though i don't always get to follow the guidance), when to rest and when to withdraw and when to emerge and interact. when to be vigorous (rarely!) and when to be slow. i love the way my connection to my inner world is enhanced by pregnancy and the magical privilege of helping a baby to come into being.
i do look forward to having more energy again. it's challenging to fulfill my responsibilities to my students and to have sufficient time and attention to give to my partner, friends and family, and my body reminds me when i've forgotten that the priority is growing this beautiful being!

thanks katrina for creating this pod and for your enthusiam. i look forward to your dvd…

Namaste Fellow Yogis!

As the mother of a 14 month old daughter (Ashlyn) and an Elementary School Nurse, I am constantly amazed by the beauty of our children. They are incredibly insightful and sensitive. What amazes me the most is how our children emulate us. They may not always hear what we say, but they ALWAYS see what we are doing. Our energy patterns imprint on our children in deep and permanent ways. Because I see striking examples of the implications of this every day in my work with children, I have become acutely aware of the messages I am constantly sending my daughter. I have embarked on an ongoing journey to calm my ego and embrace my spirit so that I may feed my daughter nourishing vibes with which to mold into her blossoming sense of self. Yoga is an important part of this “yoking” of Spirit in my life. Whether it is finding strength and endurance in asana, or feeling oneness through ahimsa, Yoga gives me the tools to be a strong foundation for my daughter.  I hope that someday Ashlyn will join me in her own Yoga practice, but if not I will have learned compassion to embrace her choices and respect the Spirit expressing itself through her.

Thank you for giving us this forum to unify our thoughts about such a wonderful practice. And thank you for helping to spread light into the next generation of caretakers for this struggling world. Namaste.

My name is Kristen and I have been a stay at home mom since my daughter was born 5 1/2 years ago. I hardly remember the person I was before that.  I worked in the Corporate world for over 9 years and about 4 years into it, I knew that was not the place for me.  I've never experienced such complete lack of human kindness or concern.  I also have a 3 year old son.  And, I love love love being home with my growing kiddos.  I can't believe that we have really left the baby/toddler world behind and are embarking on kindgergarten and preschool these days.  No more sleepless nights and diaper changes and worrying about feeding every 3 hours.  Since I have regained some sense of a regular sleep pattern, I'm ready to see what else the world has to offer me that I may pass on to my kids and husband!  I'm glad to have found all of you.
