I'm wondering - is the 'need' to pray for Mother Earth; or for Gaia - the Oneness? My sense is that the 'need' is only to hold love in our hearts, and to trust that by doing this–by opening ourselves and trusting in this–that things will unfold as they must. I certainly am not wise or farsighted enough to know what Gaia needs and wants, but I trust that 'she' does, and I want only to demonstrate that trust in these circles. :) |

After spending some time this weekend resting in my own heart (and trying not to feel too daunted by the enormity of this!) I've posted one proposal, based on the collected ideas above, in the Gaia Community Vision Group here. Please let me know what you each think, remembering that this is an evolving, living process and my intent is only to plant the seed. |

In the moments of quiet meditating, as this project is sprouting and there is quiet–I went to your Photos section, Eli, and found these wonderful humorous images. Ever since I met the Dalai Lama as a serious child, I realized the value of humor in a deeply spiritual life. From where does this fountain of humor emerge within you?
What value does humor have for the spiritual life? How can someone find it within them? |

Eli, I feel fortunate to have had you as a friend. I love your poetry and source of wisdom. May you always continue to share it in whatever way possible. I liked your monkey smile and decided to have you as a friend. May you find the eternal Presence and peace of Being wherever you are headed. You've opened many windows… and now this one light shines through them. May it always continue to shine through your heart. |

Fabulous idea, Anna. A chant helps focus attention, if we feel the need for that. I might listen or sing out loud or in my head, The Earth is Our Mother thing that Meenakshi posted somewhere. Perhaps we can collectively find some others to suggest here. GREAT idea!! |

May I suggest the seed mantra (Beeja Mantra) of “Prithvi (meaning Mother Earth) for use as the Gaia (Prithvi) mantra. It is an anciend Vedic seed used for Prithvi (Mother Earth/ Gaia) Om K'sham Om I have posted this seed mantra and also the Prithvi Gayatri Mantra in Prayer for Mother Earth thread of One Light Many Windows too. If one would like to invoke the Akasha Tattva ( (space element) together with Mother Earth, Chant this: Om K'sham Ham Om

Bhattaji, my sense has been not to use an existing mantra - this way it can relate well to all paths - otherwise it may be associated with the path it originates from. However I am happy to go along with the decision taken |

Eli, as you, Bhatta and others on Gaia are in Bengal , I wanted to share these verses from the well loved Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore for our friends. It's about earth, so it has a special meaning. The earth of Bengal, Bengal's waters, the air of Bengal, Bengal's fruit –from Selected Songs of Rabindranath Tagore, translated by Abu RushdConsecrate, consecrate, consecrate, oh Lord The homestead of Bengal, Bengal's market, the woods of Bengal, Bengal's field Be bounteous, be bounteous, be bounteous, oh Lord. The resolve of a Bengalee, his hope, the toil of a Bengalee, his language Be truthful, be truthful, be truthful of Lord. The heart of a Bengalee, his mind, All the brothers and sisters in a Bengalee household Be one, be one, be one, oh Lord. Img srce |

Thank you Meenakshi for finding this very famous Song composed by Tagore. The first two lines, as they appear in Original Bengali read: “Banglar mati Banglar jal, Banglar vayu Banglar phal Punya houk, Punya houk, Punya houk, he Bhagawan” (Bangla = Bengal, mati=earth, jal=earth, vayu=air, phal=fruit,Bhagwan=God) |
