Hi there,

Many people I know, including myself are ushering in the vision of ecotourism, eco-retreats etc. I recently became a Leisure Travel Consultant with a company that buys bulk travel packages and have been wanting to have them include more eco-retreats as an offering to members.
I also have the ability to create a custom group excursion at wholesale prices. I am an advocate of green standards and would love to coordinate packages with those of you that own or have relations with eco-retreats. Maybe we can design some things together.

In Peace,
Raymond Powers
http://www.raymondpowers.worldventuresdreamtrips.com
http://www.simplebrilliance.com

      Hey Liz :~)

thanks for being HERE xxO (kisses and a hug!)

I'm at the Red Victorian now near Haight and Ashbury in SF, chilling at a fellow Zaadzster and Eco Adventure Retreat & Evolution pod member's bed and breakfast and cafe, and am lovin' the vibe and a REAL connection. Soooo refreshing! Yum.

Anyhow, with respect to your question, there were two marks on my body and then there is my name. The first mark was kind of like a birthmark, but in lines, and it was at the center of my forehead, kinda inbetween the eyebrows...

And, funnily enough, it's the character for our pod and part of the symbol for the enterprise I started some months (actually, years) ago :~) it's a beautiful character and means leadership or king in Chinese. The bottom line represents earth, the middle line, humanity, and the top line, heavens. And the leader is one who unites / harmonizes the three and brings them together. Beautiful hmmm? The mark on the forehead dissappeared after a few weeks, but my mom brought me to her classroom where a korean student identified the character. it's puzzled me ever since :~0

then there was this tiger or lion's paw on my shoulder. it was a birthmark too, but dissappeared when I was about 7 or so. And then the name given to me by our spiritual leader (from the spiritual organization SUBUD), who 'received' the name for me, means king or leader. Roderick.

And so now I am on the path of training myself to be a leader, and to inspire leadership in others, and to create harmony in the best way I know how :~)

~drigo

      Hello everyone.

It has been a long help dream of mine to start a carbon neutral eco-spiritual tourism and events company in New Zealand where I am from. I am clarifying my vision and looking for input from people passionate about this vision. I would like to put on an event that attracts 100-200 people to Aotearoa New Zealand for an authentic and transformative cultural experience. This will be complemented by tours on spiritual, sustainability and social entrepreneurial themes. The Prime Minister of NZ has recently declared that she wants the counrty to be the first truely sustainable nation! So the timing is good.

How you can help: Connect with me, offer feedback and ideas, help me make it happen as only you can. I'd also want to learn what your doing and need next and see how I can help.

For the Highest Good,
Andrew

      Hi Lisa,

It would be wonderful to exchange information from eco-adventure retreats around the globe... on courses, on menus, on architectural designs or sketches of appropriate technologies, on ideas for boosting occupancy, etc, etc...

I hope to set up something in the future that can do this and provide software to resorts to help them with basics like accounting, inventory, etc. And, where I live in Indonesia, you're absolutely right about high speed falling coconuts vs. high speed internet. Lots of internet cafes popping up here and there, but a web presence would help them so much to connect to the online folks who are looking for places exactly like theirs but don't know how to reach them...

what kinds of things were you thinking about in terms of exchanging ideas or how can this pod be of greater value to us???

thanks for your comments and ideas!!!

warm and best regards,

~drigo

"Retirement eco-villages"? What a brilliant idea!! I have long daydreamed about social clubs for elders. Live-in social clubs, too, with access to housekeepers and medical staff. Different from nursing homes. An eco-village would be ideal. Who has the time and inclination to start one?

I don't know. Would this pod be the most useful kind of venue for exchanging ideas among eco-retreats? Once in the tropics, I will certainly direct people to this site. Perhaps you have something else in mind, something for which a website would be more useful? I'm ignorant about websites and online communities. I'd like to learn more because these seem like a good tool to connect people in yet another way.

Interesting challenge: many eco-retreats don't have Internet; they have only high-speed coconuts. I wonder how they share ideas.

I just joined this pod, so want to say hello. I´m soon moving to Costa Rica, where eco-lodges, retreat centers, and community projects abound. This country truly has its finger on the pulses of ecology and community. Part of my job will be to head the ¨Community, Action, Service Program¨ for high school kids. They are expected to spend a specified amount of time outside of the classroom doing useful things in the community and enjoying nature on eco-adventures. I´m so excited!! I look forward to sparking ideas off of one another as I explore this pod.

      Hi there:

I am really interested in this pod b/c I know that my not too distant future plans is to embark on an adventure to lead me to a place of settling... I have loved ecovillages and intentional communities since I first learned of them... Even the Mormon communities in my Mississippi homeland tugged at many curious threads of mine...not b/c they believed the same religion...but that they LIVED DIFFERENTLY...

I have visited some communities such as Auroville, Green Gulch Farm, and Magic. They are spectacles to me and there are so many more I wish to see... However, the questions that overtake me are...Why am I attracted to these communities? What have I learned? When will I find my community that lives off the land and with the land and for the land?

I dream of building a cob house (hybrid with straw bale)... I dream of building an herb garden that I can tend to for the rest of my life... I dream of knowing some part of someplace very well -- the weather...streams...animals...birds...insects...soil... This will come, I know...

I have experimented with cob, CSEB, and straw-bale... I am learning more about medicinal herbs... And, I am on the path to becoming a teacher of yoga... I would love to apply this knowledge to a community one day...and learn more -- bee-keeping...cheese-making...quilt making you name it!

I look forward to connecting with you all.

Be well,

Lindsay

I have found that my greatest pleasure in the world is hosting Zaadzter-like people around my new home, the island of Maui! This is an extraordinary place, but it takes some skill to dodge the tourist traps and find the deep magic that is here.

I am hoping to organize this passion into a hostel/retreat type situation, but land prices being what they are on Maui, it may take a while! In the meantime, I'm sharpening my skills by hosting couchsurfers. I have very humble accomodatoins at the moment, so I can only take on folks one at a time. But we have a blast and as a consequence I learn more about the island with every visit!

I look forward to the day when I will have much more room to host friends and organize events that will help me share the beauty and fantasy that is Maui at her best!

A Hui Ho

      Drigo,

Thank you for the welcome! I can't really do much to my site (it's a replicating site through the company I work with). But I can book with any travel vendor I want. So I'm in the research phase. I will definitely check out what the others in the group have.

I'll be starting my eco tour advertising in January, so then I'll see what kinds of trips St Louis folks are after.

I look forward to learning here!

Namaste,
Rachel
