What a wealth of knowledge in this thread! So many links to explore, so much good knowledge to drink from.

Again a special thanks to all those who contributed, and just a small reminder to our recent members to please read through this thread if you haven't already :~) and if you'd like, to get a glass of wine, put on your favorite inspirational music, and continue the thread...

Sunstar brings up an interesting possibility - from my limited experience with small islands in the 'Far East,' it doesn't seem like edible plants grow very well. The family that looks after the island has been attempting to grow herbs, vegetables, and fruits for years with no results. But I'm committed to discovering what can be grown there, and how, and how to improve yield, etc.

Currently, we have 4 chilli plans that are growing well, a tropical fruit vine called Marquisa (similar to passion fruit, I think), some ginseng plants, and that's it so far. It's the dry season here now (but we're approaching the wet season), so it's been rather tough to keep the vegetation on the island green and healthy. But I'm hoping during the coming rainy season that we'll find a way to get a lovely, nutritious, and organic garden growing sustainably, and promise to post pictures as we do...

This is what the pod is all about... practical sharing of technologies, inspiring people to go forward with their own ideas, exploring the possibility of collaboration, posting websites like www.tribewanted.com to see examples of what others are doing.

It IS possible.

This is a wonderful way to inspire our world, and issue in the change that we all know must come forth... is coming forth. These places can be catalysts where we can really put our best ideas and experience into creating little paradizez :~)

I've got lots to post on recent developments, but I'll start here with a slightly updated version of the vision for the island...

Please excuse the recent absence folks, family is in town, and having a small battle with my cable internet provider so am stuck with dial-up, but I'm LOVIN the great energy, enthusiasm, and meeting of minds transpiring on this pod! A special thanks to Sunstar for sharing his incredible wealth of knowledge and enthusiastic support. Thank you, Sun!

------------------------------------------

(vision below is written as if it already exists - although in reality we are making the first steps towards it... if you'd like to be on my United Adventures mailing list with updates on the island and our other enterprise areas, please email me at unitedadventures@yahoo.com - yes we are working on a new website!)

Tiger Island Eco Adventure Personal Growth Resort Vision

Getting There

Getting to and from the tiger island can be done in many ways. You can rent a chopper or hire a plane to get to a nearby island, and then be picked up by our boat. You can charter a number of yachts and private boats, all pre-approved for quality. You can take a fast ferry from a neighboring public island. Or you can take our very own United Adventures partner ship: fast, comfortable, safe and powered on bio-diesel.

The Island’s Environment

The natural beauty is incredible. Clear waters and live coral reefs abound. The islands grounds are kept meticulously clean. There’s an aura of peace, colorful nature, and many perfect areas to enjoy the natural beauty of the island. There’s even a hydroponic or organic vegetable garden where delicious veggies are grown. The island garden is beautifully landscaped to show off tropical island vegetation varieties, as well as a few international plants that grow well in the local environment. At night, solar powered lamps light up the island’s paths, and accentuate the beauty of the island ecosystem. This includes lighting up reefs for night snorkeling.

The Island’s Structures

Structures on the island include several eco-friendly cabins for simple but comfortable accommodations, a large communal space at the ‘clubhouse,’ several charming outdoor bathrooms with eco features, and several thatched tropical huts, reading areas and a tree house for getting intimate with nature, and as the perfect spots for guests to spend time together. Where possible, local renewable materials, and often recycled hard wood from old boats, are used in the construction process. Special emphasis is placed upon key technologies and structures to provide sustainable, inexpensive energy (wind and solar energy), fresh water supplies (through rainwater collection systems and possibly reverse osmosis), and intelligent waste management (composting, including ‘humanure’ systems, recycling).

The Island’s Programs

The eco-adventure-personal growth resort inspires harmony – it facilitates the natural feeling of connectedness to nature. Our design and staff / paradise hosts are intentionally focused on facilitating incredible vacation and personal growth experiences around the discovery of living in harmony with and appreciating Mother Nature. Our paradise hosts are trained to equip our guests with simple techniques and strategies that guests can implement in their own lives back home to experience the benefits of living in harmony with nature. Such quality of life improvement programs involve, for example, organic vegetable gardening, holistic health augmentation through yoga and nutrition, and the creation of healthful natural environments in our living and creative / work spaces.

Our design and staff / paradise hosts are also intentionally focused on facilitating the pleasurable experience of human interaction and connectedness / harmony. This can be as simple as being very attentive to the needs of guests, to introducing families and groups of friends to group activities and games, to making connections among guests who previously may not have known each other. The resort is a paradise of often like-minded beings where connections and friendships are built that potentially last life times. The human connectedness element is further facilitated through highly effective and enriching group experiences, whether they be for organizations or families. This would include a particular strength in coaching corporate or organizational clients to achieve a vision through effective team synergies and leadership. Facilities on the island include a small ropes course, and other obstacle courses that are common or not so common in other outbound training facilities.

More subtly, the Tiger islands resort is designed in a spiritual light. Architecture and programs reflect an appreciation of spiritual experience. From meditation and reflection zones (huts, reading spots, tree house), to peaceful statues depicting Buddha in meditation and other peace-inducing spiritual figures from various faiths, to hosting courses lead by modern-day spiritual coaches and ‘gurus’, the resort is also focused on connecting itself and her guests to the Divine.

The Resort’s Humanitarian Commitment

As a research center focusing on living in harmony with nature, with our common humanity, and with the Divine – the fruits of our endeavors are intended have wide-ranging impacts in the regional community that may also be applied internationally. Paradise hosts and architects continually ask and redefine the questions of how we can best live in harmony with our natural surroundings, how we can best and sustainably enjoy the fruits of nature, how people of different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds can live or spend time together in harmony, and how we can most effectively manifest common visions to evolve our own and regional quality of life. Based upon the belief and understanding that present regional and global conditions are significantly shaped by spiritual and religious beliefs, the resort is also a grounds for workshops, discussions and small conferences that seek an evolved understanding and appreciation of common spirituality that facilitates outer and inner peace and harmony.

For the Resort’s environmental and humanitarian initiatives, a separate non-profit organization exists to receive and manage funds, conduct research, sponsor regional initiatives, and publish findings for regional, national and international audiences.

Environmental Commitment

Besides conserving and where possible enhancing the health and beauty of the natural environment upon the resort’s premises, United Adventures is also committed to applying identified, successful strategies and technologies to the Pulau Seribu region. These would include appropriate and inexpensive technology initiatives such as the design and distribution of wind-energy systems using simple car batteries and alternators, the implementation of composting, ‘humanure’ systems, and island seawater farming techniques for the sustainable and autonomous provision of vegetables and staple foods, and inexpensive ceramic coral re-growth technologies to support regional eco-tourism. Collaborating with international research institutions and island-based eco-resorts, Pulau Macan is committed to contributing towards furthering research and implementation of inexpensive, sustainable strategies and technologies that will allow for a blossoming of eco-adventure-inspirational tourism across Indonesia and in other gorgeous places around the world. Our purpose is to regenerate and sustain gorgeous natural environments, and inspire people to be the stewards of those environments and live in harmony with Mother Earth.

\
News from the Agro Expo II
in Indonesia, July 2005!

Many of you have been asking for our update on current activities of Sonic Bloom in Indonesia and the world. Here it is. Let us share the recent experiences of the International Agro Expo 2005 in Semarang, Indonesia, July 11 to 17, 2005, which was attended by 20.000 people.

This week long event was organized by our exclusive distributor for Sonic Bloom, Harry Harryanto, the Governor of Central Java, the Department of Agriculture, and the agricultural minister of Indonesia.

Many Agricultural ministers, attaches and staff from countries in their region attended. We were so fortunate to have the agricultural ministers of Afghanistan, Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Peoples Republic of China, Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Suriname, Royal Thai, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Yemen, the US Embassy, and other countries tour some Sonic Bloom pilot projects on the bus tour to the expo. They were witnessing first hand some amazing 30 to 100 per cent Sonic Bloom increases in production and were overwhelmed with the successes. Harry Harryanto gave the opening speech followed by the Governor of Central Java, Mr. H. Mardiyanto, and the Agricultural minister. The gala dinner the night before was at the foot of Borabutho, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, at the most prestigious hotel in Semerang. At this unique international event that brought together so many different people and cultures, some of the most famous cultural dancers and singers displayed their extraordinary art form. Harry Harryanto was seated with the speaker of parliament and the Chinese agricultural ambassador. The ambassador from Thailand and Pakistan joined in the celebration and sang along with the cultural songs. The Sonic Bloom booth was praised as one of the highlights of the Agro Expo by visitors and ministers. We have been growing plants there since February, and the production was considered as stunning and almost unbelievable by the Indonesians and governments alike. We grew corn, tomatoes, maryama beans, cantaloupes, melons, flowers, salad mixes, eggplant, vegetables and crops.

Harry and I and his wonderful staff were very happy to share the theme "SONIC BLOOM IS THE ANSWER" for that part of the world as well as the planet. Many visitors commented: Seeing is believing! Because of this expo we can share the gift of Sonic Bloom with even more countries.

I give my deepest thanks to all those involved in this wonderful sharing of agricultural experience and cultural technology. One of the highlights of this trip, I was invited to lecture at a pilot project training center to a 30 some new student technicians. They have come from a Tsunami devastated region. Sonic Bloom works very well in these intolerable new saline conditions. So when the student technicians they can go back to their towns and villages and help feed the people were all other methods have failed. Also our special thanks to the American Embassy, and the American Agricultural Commissioner, for coming to the expo, and all their support.

Cheers, Dan Carlson

      Rodrigo

Aloha

I did not go into the benefits of coconut as a food and the oil qualities (which are unique

But I thought as a practical side bar I should mention that coconuts and their elements are a super-food par excellence and they are very very sturdy and adapted to your region over centuries..

They withstand hurricanes and typhoons while imported plants don’t fare as well
though
the element of a botanical garden via the ministers of agriculture there in Indonesia through Dan Carlson (www.sonicbloom.com) possible to get samples of all possible plant that CAN grow there that are food producing including the now famous cacao or raw chocolate which is the rage in raw food circles could make it even more fantastic.

The 25 ministers of agri. there is Indonesia and the government brought in Dan Carlson to isse sonic bloom to increase agricultural yields as they are importing 60 % of their food and the population will double I the next ten years. The results were amazing.
Yet for tiny island crops and just the right blend of as many coconuts as you can get on the shoreline and as far inland as possible is step 1. The 25 ministers of agriculture for AALL of Indonesia are former military heads (passive and peaceful) and they all have the same personal goal of creating gardens of Eden on their properties and around Indonesia.

See the notes on www.sonicbloom.com about the agricultural expo in Indonesia that Dan spearheaded last year and some of the dramatic results in yields..
In planting a garden of Eden on the 2 tigers you can increase growth rate by ten tims to create a better garden feel and landscaping (all by hand small scale) and increase food fruit trees.

Every year hundreds of thousands of people yearn for something more than mere eco tourism and adventure and relaxation and yet they don’t need fancy expensive hotels

they want real and kind people and maybe a library of book and dvds and such on the conscious evolution and of course some snorkeling and diving equipment and
then if possible some nurturing bodywork? Talk? Quiet and meditation? The hammock therapy!

I have seen that the millions of people that come to Hawaii put up with a lot of hype and pay enormous funds to be here and see what they thought they left at home your place and places like it that support the local people in crafts and small infrastructure combied with the abilities of those using networking and the internet

Like the "Tribe Wanted" idea Bill shared (but not so TV and glitz oriented but with that bit of adventure and yet more for people who want to get away from that a bit..makes the potential here something very very unique .

I have seen personally countless places like this in the Caribbean in places you see in islands magazine and places lime that that are little getaways and they are basic ..

More to come soon

Keep the vision going

it is how every "impossible" dream came about and this is easy compared to some visions.

      Yes BILL
Re: HOW Can we? Imagine in detail!

The details and practicalities are something

passionate people with a magical project do amazing things.

yes even just sharing on the e version now is great.

never before in the history of advertising adn networking have we have a global netork to bring in ehough people to any such place to make it stand on its own..or even jsut envision the beauty of it

And our friend Rod is already doing it
he has a lot of passion about this and avery great heart it feels like and he is a doer doing it.

I was really suprised to see the paragliders I have many friends here that are devoted paragliders.

Yesterday at Makapuu beach in Waimanalo

I was on the beach laying looking up at the cliffs above the beach and I have a returning insights from many years ago that the white sand and the blue water and sunny blue sky and air and life force and the paragliders and hang gliders and bodysurfers were all in an altered state very much like a
trans -dimensional heaven of sorts

It was literally a time out heaven on earth not just a nice place in nature but really vibrationally heaven on earth where peple were functioning in their passion for the moment which was all that was important..

It seems we can offer that when we find that many or most people have not experienced that especially in a tropical arena.

Having drank over 100,000 coconuts worth of coconut water in the past 35 years from
Central America to Islands in the Caribbean to Hawaii and Indonesia I can say that is a divine thing in itself....though many think of it as nothing more than an exotic indulgence. Simple pleasures like this and quiet adn the possibility of an environment like this in a area where the local peple are open to all new experience and sharing (some great peple there) it is something we all see the potential in.

I am excited by Rod's commitment.. it is what this takes.
I feel that the possibility of seminars there and a healing center are viable yet
presume some homework and more networking.

having lived in the tropics for may decades now it is hard to beat.. now to take micro climates adn micro learning and healing to these areas to they dont seem remote to commited guests.

I hope I can hear more from this group on this.

I wanted to swing back to the beginning of this post. Though it may have been wine fueled, I do think the idea of seeing/manifesting paradise wherever you are is a good one to keep in mind. People so often see things as better "out there," forever looking off in the distance for that place that they idealize, not taking time to see the beauty that surrounds them, the people in their lives, the possibilities right in front of them. Heh, I just noticed, while writing this, that the wallpaper on my cell phone is a picture of a flower growing from the cracks of a brick wall :-)

Getting more in line with what's being talked about here, and to introduce myself, I stumbled upon this pod while I was reading a thread in the Zaadzpreneurs pod. To hear of someone out there, doing it, and inviting other people to be a part, or share their ideas, just grew a big smile on my face. I'm a firm believer in taking action to create what you want in the world, too.

It's been a long day for me, so I'll say a bit more about myself, in a few days. But for now, just wanted to say howdy. Reading my profile will give more insight.

Hrmm, okay one more thing for now. In reading about someone with two islands wanting to activate their potential in interesting ways, it got me thinking about my own life, how starting, say, a retreat center on an island would meet both my and my wife's needs/visions for ourselves, as I am skilled at creating and organizing communities, then motivating, and getting them in action. Plus I have a desire to travel, and am always a fan of learning from, laughin with, new people and old friends. Community really gives me juice. My wife is a great teacher, and has had a vision of having a center where she taught, using her skills as a Wellness Coach, Psychic, with a healthy dash of movement for good measure.

Hrmm, well then I guess I woke up there! More later...

I am blatantly stealing this link from the zaadzpreneur pod - but it was so on-topic I thought it should get reposted;

http://tribewanted.com/index.htm

I would choose a simpler look, personally, but I'm a big believer in the 'simple sells' philosophy of web design.

But, whoever made it has done fairly well with it structurally and conceptually - it has good links coming to it, and it's a good example of how one could approach a website like this.

As I stand in the beautiful Changi Airport, and read these luminous posts, I'm again in awe in thanks for the loving support and encouragement.

Elansunstar.... wow. I don't even know where to begin. I haven't even begun to jump into all those sites you've posted... perhaps you oughta come here and we can both help Indonesia boost her tourism potential and we could do some incredible stuff with the 18,000+ islands in this vast archipelago... Hawaii is indeed a gorgeous place with kind and sincere people, and my friends from there remind me of the good vibes here in Indonesia.

I'm particularly interested in the technologies you mentioned of using seawater for growing vegetables... and will look into it soonest... You've posted a lot of awesome ideas and I will get to them one by one as soon as I've got some more time...

Cameron, thanks for your interest! Very glad you've joined us here and I'm excited about your background and existing projects and how we may be able to collaborate or work together!

Bill, my man, while here in Singapore I'm writing up the bid papers for the companies I'm approaching to do our website and will incorporate your ideas above... I'll post a separate topic, I think, on the question of how www technology can enhance this idea...

from the depths of gratitude and commitment, I can't wait to further create and manifest this vision with you,

~drigo

Well, Sun, you do throw a lot on the plate when you write, but it's all very on-topic, and knowing Rodrigo as I do, when he drops back in from his busy entreprenuerial schedule I'm sure he will be very pleased, and see a great affinity.

I don't thing the idea of selling domain names will work, because you have to be a country to do that, but a lot of your ideas sounded very interesting. It did make me wonder what the coconut and permaculture possibilities were on Rodrigo's site.

Rodrigo, to answer the question about how a eco-village website for your site and project might work, here's what I would start out with:

The central core of the site would be a blog, a wordpress blog (free software, easy to learn). In the blog you would talk about the schedules and events happening at the site, and the blog creates a sense of "live" presence, thru which you can position yourself to answer emails and sell customers.

Writing the blog entries would be an ongoing task, but there are a few ways to make it easier to do.

Then, a photography section, organized to send the message that yours is an ecology vacation adventure. Lots of pics of flora and fauna and sights. maybe give the rights to the pics out for free, to children and educators. This helps get bookmarkers and helps keep the idea of your place in the minds of porential customers.

Then, a series of pages about ecology vacations, and eco villages - not too many to start, but enough to add an informational flavor to the site.

And finally, your closing pages, where you sell the tours, talk money, and give tour information.

That would be plenty to get started, enough content to attract some good links, enough to sell some tours, and maybe attract some investment.

hi drigo

just came across this - and your original post in zaadpreneurs [i think]

am interested in getting involved with this project

we are experts in LOHAS marketing and have considerable experience in bringing new projects to fruition - with or without capital for marketing investment

our largest client last year spent half a million, our smallest spent $500

so we can certainly come up with a solution that will work - even some sort of JV or contra would be considered

look forward to being in touch

cameron@nuovon

It looked like you tried to post some pics, Rodrigo, but it didn't work. Is that right?

There's some kind of trick you have to use to post pics here - you upload the pic to your personal photos section, select the pic from it, cntrl-c to copy it, then cntrl-v to paste it into a pod post.

      Aloha
For your island retreat....

these sites I have used for growing with seawater

yes seawater amazing results and no burns from the salt!!!!

Seaweed extact s even more powerful Can mail you some.

.The black powder is extremely concentrated trace minersals from concentrated seaweed extacts..powerful growth starter and humectant (holds water) and nutrient as triples production of plants with foliar spray use on leaves.

the plants enhance your personal desire you mentioned to studyfeng shui as the pants are part of the fneg shui element.

if you grow your baby coconut trees with this then you can get producing coconuts in 1/3 the time possibly....One german community lived exclusively on coconuts for years during the war on an island you know the story?

Se the research on coconut oil nutritive and anto bacterial from Bruce Fife

      Aloha
I am the world's most published photographer and My specialty is travel and resort

i have sold more travel and resort and spa than any other photographer and you can use my stock of happy people in tropical areas for your website which would put it through the ceiling to say the least.

I also have been planning such a thing while living in Hawaii for 4 decades and have traveled and studied at many many healing and health resorts since 1970

I have doe extensive fasts and been a raw foodist for 40 years now and also have studied over 50 systems of healing and detoxification as well as hundreds of mind body spirit elements.

So i am quite interested in this here and in Thailand.

I can also offer the government there my services and imagery to increase travel in general in exchange for?

I have a friend with 10 square miles in Gaunaja in Honduras islands that could be a sequel. Etc.

Alternate energy is a passion of mine ....
Increasing the value would be a library of cds and dvds of mind body spirit and inspirational materials fro te world's great's
A friend wit yoga ashram in Sri lanka has a wall projector and shows dvds one night a a week to locals adn team and it is a hit.

I beleive you have the winner here as places like this are the next
Trillion $
Read Paul Pilzer's
The Fountain of Wealth and The Next Trillion and see
Paul Pilzer.com

market analyst Everyoe wants this and they want to heal and they want to learn.

This template could develop into a chain. if done consciously!
I have lived extensively in the tropics and in Central and South america and Caribbean and Hawaii for the last 4 decades and can offer my services if it can help.

You could also fund it with a domain service like .tv and others now since .com and .org and .net are so full for domain names if you could work out local agreement

About 20 years ago the King of Malaysia brought me to Malaysia because he was a wind-surfer and wanted me to shoot there. and he brought me to see the Sultan of brunei who was the richest man in the world then.
I am a certified windsurfing instuctor internationally and have worked with dolphins since 1972 when I worked with John Lilly...Dolphins if there are any there are a great draw as is every aspect of mind body spirit (not JUST eco) tourism.

You ar on the spot with this
Dont ever give up on it. it IS the future of it all as long as it has library of media run on solar..and books as well.

My friend Dan Carlson (www.sonicbloom.com) waqs broght in to the Indonesian governement to work with the 25 ministers of agriculture there to increase agricultural yeilds with sonic boom They were so astondeded by the yeids that they praised him to high heaven and mad him a fixture of soorts. Somnic bloom produced one pumplkin in midwest US that was 1500 pounds and nutritive value through the sky!.

Also the research on growing amazing crops with sea-water is available and I can get you all the links for that so seawater is not an issue as big as you might think.

Immediately bring in as many coconuts to plant now as they take time to mature. I drink about 12 coconuts a day here in Hawaii Identical to Mother's milk in composition exactly.

I have found the people there to be exceptionally warm hearted and caring.

Another friend is the top topical architect in hawaii and his buildings are built in Bali at tie and shipped here...the market for tropical structures is exploding exponentially and here real estate has quadrupled already (Hawaii)

Our branding is "Incredible Vacation Experiences" and it's the header on the blog that I posted awhile back, which has pictures of the island and some of our other destinations too. I took some pictures of the solar panel and the little garden that the guys on the island made.... As for the garden, we're now thinking of hydroponics - but the challenge is again water.

To my surprise, I had a last minute booking for two for a trip to the islands while I was there with my group this weekend, and the husband is this Spanish guy who used to set up eco resorts around central America. So, with a small barter deal, I think I've found myself an additional consultant :~)

As for the virtual eco-village, I absolutely love the idea... but what would the experience be like? Would you log in, and then just click on different parts of the site to learn about eco-living? How do you envision it?

Actually, we do have a website for the island... it's decent but not near where I'd like it to be... you can view it at www.pulaumacan.com. We'll be re-doing that site soon.

I'll be posting more through the week, and hopefully some pictures too...

Small Tiger Island, eh? That has a kind of poetry to it.

Have you settled on a brand name for your tour/resort business? It's probably on one of the illustrations or links you posted a while back, but if it is, it has slipped out of my memory and needs to be re-inforced.

Crabs got your tomatoes, eh? Here I put wire cages, about a foot in diameter and 16 inches tall, around my tomatoe plants, and leave that in place untill they get bigger and start producing more of their protective chemicals. I'd expect the biology to be more agressive there in the tropics, so it might be best to leave the cage in place permanently.

I agree that actually doing it is better than virtually doing it. It's just that actually doing it is much less likely here in cyberspace. I'm trying to figure out a way for more people to be involved with eco-villages, to get the idea flowing and growing in people's minds.

Are you planning on starting a dedicated website for your business and project - you know, a www.smalltigerisland.com type of thing, where you own the domain name, rent a bit of server space, and have your official website, the one you want prospective customers to see?
