January 27 is the Day the World Will Press ‘Play’  

A little over two years ago, through email, I was introduced to Jim MacLaren. Working on Volume 4 at the time, I felt I had immediately been connected with someone of true courage, strength, and enthusiasm for living.

The Volume 4 Coach’s Notes became a thank you and dedication to him and several other special people in my life who have influenced myself and countless others by sharing their unique messages of persistence, faith and accomplishment.

Choose Living/Cardio Coach™ PRESS PLAY Day will be, as far as we are aware, the world’s first interactive global fundraising event.

On January 27, 2007, at 12pm, Eastern Standard Time, participants from around the globe, many our own Cardio Coach™ customers, will, at the same time, work out to a specially created mp3 download Cardio Coach™ compilation. The workout mp3 will feature an interview with Jim, and we have, though generous donations, procured several great prize giveaways for participants. While we are still creating our specific prize categories, one definite will be “most participants recruited.” So, please spread the word for this event as you have spread your enthusiasm for the Cardio Coach™ workouts.

According to the Cardio Coach™ forum, several of our customers are already encouraging their friends and families to participate and planning gatherings and parties around the event. Todd, Karal and I are deeply immersed in the creation of the mp3 workout and will be announcing ticket sales for the event on the site soon. Tickets are $30, and all proceeds will go toward Jim MacLaren and his Choose Living Foundation. He rebuilt his life after his first accident cost him the loss of his left leg below the knee, by becoming not just a triathlete competitor, but the world’s fastest amputee athlete at that time, routinely beating 80% of his able-bodied challengers in events like the New York Marathon and Hawaii Ironman.

His second accident, in 1993, occurred during a triathalon in California, and paralyzed him from the neck down. Jim, however, did not stop there, and found within himself an inner force that has enabled him to act in ways he could not as an able-bodied athlete. He created his foundation, Choose Living, to spread this message though speaking engagements and donations to organizations such as Camp Good Days & Special Times, a summer camp created for children with cancer but now reaching out to include those affected by violence and burn victims, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, an organization created by his triathlete friends and featured in the movie Emmanual’s Gift.”

Jim has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Jim Rome is Burning, and has spoken in various venues across America. In 2005 he was awarded the ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award, and is featured in Jack Canfield’s new book, You’ve GOT to Read This Book! 55 People Tell the Story of the Book That Changed Their Life! Jim embodies the Cardio Coach™ philosophy, and we are thrilled to be a part of his life.
