Got that favorite film you’re passionate about recommending, or just wish more people would see it? Go ahead, discuss any movie here!
Community Film Picks (formerly zFilms) pod/Group is devoted to the open exchange of opinions, views, and reviews about movies, current and past. (In theatres now, and on video/DVD. And now we have a Television Board for any kind of TV...(more) show.)
The “Movies” lists in our profiles are a GREAT source of recommendations, leads, suggestions, ideas. Community Film Picks pod/Group offers more immediate interaction, and more space for information about the films.
Cross-posts of film mentions and reviews and comments from elsewhere in the Community are specifically invited !!
Community Film Picks (zFilms) pod/Group has two purposes: 1. To enable more-informed voting with film-viewing dollars so we can help change the world, and 2. To help us all find better films to watch and the ones to avoid.
1. VOTING INFORMEDLY WITH FILM DOLLARS
Movies, films, the cinema are an important part of most of our lives. Don’t you think that voting with your film-viewing dollars is an important way to support/encourage the changes you want to see in the world? Don’t you think you need more information about movies, to vote intelligently?
Everyone is looking for ways to “go green,” these days. Well, how about “going green” re movies, in the sense of giving your money to those which promote your values? Community Films Picks can serve as your “Green Guide.” A uniquely Gaia Community-flavored compendium of commentaries about movies.
Source: Megatrends 2010: The Rise of Conscious Capitalism, Page: 25 Contributed by: ~C4Chaos. Patricia Aburdene said Welcome to the Dawn of Conscious Capitalism-a popular, decentralized, broad-based crusade to heal the excesses of capitalism with transcendent human values. Every day Conscious Capitalism wins new converts in the paneled boardrooms of global business…. Equally important, the actions millions of us take, “from the supermarket to the stock market,” are drafting a more wholistic brand of free enterprise which will forever outshine the Chicago School-and win someone somewhere a brand-new Nobel Prize.
[[“the actions millions of us take…..” That’s what this pod is about, for movies. Join us, and contribute and enjoy!]]
We look forward to synergy. We look forward to exerting pressure, however strong or weak, on those whose decisions result in the films available for people to see.
In the television world, show ratings are the equivalent of film-viewers’ dollars. Thus, we discuss TV also.
We look forward to co-creating, with you, our new world of movies.
2. FINDING GOOD STUFF TO WATCH
The more we share, the more easily each of us can find films for ourselves and our families to watch which are enjoyable, entertaining, inspiring, uplifting, consciousness-raising, and/or spiritually relevant. And we can also make note of films we might want to skip!!
We think that sharing recommendations about films is worthy of at least equal attention to sharing information about books or Green resources in general. We hope you will join us, become active, and really USE the resource of this pod/Group. Then you’ll go to the video store with ideas, not just cruising the aisles, hoping. Then you’ll look at the film ads with information, not just a few shreds of recos from friends or the media.
——————————————————
Note: we are not at this time able to deal with the world of videos ordinary folks are producing and posting everywhere on the web. Who wants to start or refer us to THAT resource/pod? Community Films Picks Group is pretty much restricting itself to “mass-media.” ——————————————————–
HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR POSTINGS:
YOU ARE NOT LIMITED TO BRIEF REVIEWS OR COMMENTS. Feel free to analyze, compare, discuss, take off into cultural and philosophical analyses.
INCLUDE A VIOLENCE RATING It would be fabulously helpful if you would include a “rating” (your own description, or the standard one) of any film you mention, ESPECIALLY with respect to violence. Some of us forgo many excellent films because we just can’t hack all the violence.
ASSIGN A CATEGORY It would also be marvelously helpful if you mention the category of film: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Romance, Musical, etc.
DON’T SPOIL THE PLOT Hey, have a heart and don’t give away the plot or special stuff for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie yet.
CHECK OUT What Can You Do in Community Film Picks pod/Group?in this post.
TIP FOR USING THIS GROUP You’ll find Community Film Picks much more useful if you add it to the list of pods/Discussion Groups you receive Notifications of. In the column on the left of every page, under the “Me” heading, scroll down to and click on “Settings,” then click on Discussion Groups. Give your desired email and select Daily Digest and whether you want a note, or the full text. Then you will receive in your regular email either a notice of, or full text of, anything new posted each day .
——————————————– So, join the fun, tell us all your opinions and likes, suggest further improvements to this pod, and let’s BE the change by behaving in new ways with respect to the movies we pay to see and rent and the TV we watch!!! (less)

1Vector3I I heard that movie attendance in the US is UP despite economic hard times. I assume people get tired of being at home watching DVD's and want to GO OUT and be entertained. What do you think?(8 months ago)
